Re: New Silthid? OMG!

Basically the whole mechanisms behind this is as follows:
Every mob in the game has its own unique NPC ID number. This number is embedded within that mob, even after taming a beast it retains that ID number hence the random glitches where someone sees a hunter's pet at it's full size and with it's pre-tamed name.
Anyways, the game reads these ID numbers in order to display the model associated with that number. Right now on the live servers both Soriid and Haarka have their own numbers and their current regular appearance.
However, in Cataclysm and in the current Beta realms their models have changed...yet they still have that same ID number underneath. If you were to take a tamed Soriid from right now, who has the pink silithid model, and bring him over to Cataclysm, the game will read him and go "Oh, this is blahblahblah number. It has this model." and shows him as the new Scarab model that Cataclysm has placed with that ID number. The pink silithid model is no longer associated with Soriid's number in Cataclysm.
If Blizzard does not like this most likely unintentional mechanic they could very well just give Soriid and Haarka brand new ID numbers in Cataclysm, leaving the old Soriid and Haarka looking the same since they would have their original numbers and not the new ones. If hunters were to bring them over they would not change appearance because the Cataclysm game does not read their ID numbers as the new models, and we would not get unique pets.
Does that make sense?
