I tamed Krush on beta too, it is a far easier tame with the hp boost at level 83.
Agreed! xD Seeing as how both times I've actually seen him tamed, the fear immunity wasn't even a factor.
Good to know!

The phrase "emergency towel" comes to mind...!

there is no need for any fear immunity whether its live or beta.
But you still need the haste no?

Well, yes, but there aren't any haste changes happening in Cata, afaik. And the concerns of this thread were over the change to TBW.

After Krush spawned this morning (on live) it took me 3 tries to nab him with a haste set, but I wouldn't have noticed the change to the fear mechanic anyway. First two tries it feared me
after the effect wore off, and the third time I waited for it to fear my trash pet before dropping it.
As for his buffed hits, the increase in HP we'll be getting in Cataclysm should (I imagine) suffice for protection. The fear will have to be worked around with some haste and a bit of luck, but still entirely possible without help from other players. Could be very tough for a player who hasn't leveled in Cataclysm zones though, simply because he will bite your head off.

That's actually one thing that has annoyed me with the last two expansions...
There is no place where you suddenly get ambushed by an elite mob that rips your head off!
Un'Goro devilsaurs where like giant lizard ninjas that would appear out of nowhere, and it was awesome!
(jaw-grindingly annoying, but awesome)
People didn't go hunting for King Mosh, they prayed for him
not to be there.
Gave places like that a great atmosphere, imo.
Good that he's still tameable in Cata though. ^^

I also tamed ol' Krush this morning, lvl 83 hunter with 48k hp. Never was feared, although he did hit for 4k a pop. Glad to say he isnt untameable solo though. I had him copied over from live and the pet wipe two weeks ago had me back out there hunting him down.

Yeah... I'm all for convenience to a point, but that's not to say there shouldn't be some element of risk/danger, even if you're just solo'ing.
I had the same reaction when they nerfed the sons of Arugal.

it sucked when the devilsaurs would come by, but it was exciting to have to "sneak" around where the big devilsaurs would roam.
what about this guy?

They have the big elites in Hellfire Peninsula and Howling Fjord, which I assume were meant to be an equivalent...but it's not really the same when you can see them a mile off, and you'd have to be deaf/blind not to notice your screen shaking and the roaring

You want sneaky, hmm?
Meet the Whale Shark. Mr. Whale Shark is a skull elite, and he is huge, gray, and silent. His hit box is huge. His aggro range? Also huge. He blends into the murky depths of Vasjh'ir. No one sees Mr.Whale Shark until they're in his belly.
Fear the Whale Shark, my friends. Fear him, for he will get you. One day. No one escapes him. *evil laughter.*
On topic, good to hear that Krush is still tamable. Maybe I'll get him on my BE, too....Then again...Must resist urge. It was pretty painful on Fire.

I remember once back in vanilla I was in Mara. Even though I knew about the Croc boss in the water, I guess our healer didn't, swam into aggro range, and got one shotted. Thankfully I was a rogue who could vanish and then watch from the shadows the rest of my group wiping.
I thought it was funny.

so after reading all this about king krush, i attempted to tame him on live. i killed aotona about 5:23 pm and read some spawn timers for the rares in the area. i read this story about one guy killing aotona and seeing king krush 12 hours later, so lo and behold, 12 hours later on the dot king krush spawns. too bad i was 2 mins late finding him and when i got there he was dead. i tried waiting 3 hours, then 6, and 12 again but nothing. it's been 23 hours since i've seen him and 2 days since i saw loque'nahak (already tamed).
is there no pattern to his respawn time? i've been out here so long and have seen not a single rare spawn.
edit: just found loque again exactly 24 hours after the king krush kill, flew over to frenzyheart hill and found aotona too within 4 mins of each other. so i know loque does not share spawn timer with the other 2 rares, but would that indicate krush and aotona may spawn every 6, 12, or 24 hours?

xanthore wrote:is there no pattern to his respawn time? i've been out here so long and have seen not a single rare spawn.
From what I have gathered from various comments/sites about timers, there isn't any set pattern...only a min/max kind of timer. For example it could take anywhere between 4-12 hours. There are reports of spawns being up at the same time, and of one rare spawning several mins after another is killed.
Your best bet is probably to either sit and camp around the basin, like many do, or log in at various times and hope to get lucky (longer, but lazier option like me

) Unfortunately those rares do go down very quickly after they spawn, so what's to say Krush wasn't killed while you were checking another spot? That's why they are so coveted and special once you manage to nab them.
Good luck~

The best way to get any of the Northrend rares is to hunt for them right after the reset every night (when dailies reset) as it also resets the rarespawns. I have found just about every Northrend rare doing this, tameable or otherwise.
EDIT!!!!!! This does NOT apply to Vyragosa and the Time Lost Proto Drake. As far as I know though, it affects all the other rares.
