Re: Pets We All Adore

People who post in this thread are a very select subgroup of hunters - even amongst others here on petopia forums. The warcraft datamining site I linked in another post shows that the vast majority of hunters are NOT like the pasionate ones here - the "generic" hunter has the highest level, easiest to tame version of whatever the flavour of the month pet is. That means theres an awful lot of northrend wolves about. That same set of datamined statistics indicates that lots of hunters dont bother expanding their stable slots to the full available 5.
People here on petopia are much the opposite. I personally buy all the stable slots as soon as I can afford them. I get a variety of pets, each carefully chosen to suit the character. Since I dont raid, chosing the "best" pet is of no interest. Other people here seem similarly excited about pet choice; indeed, are a lot more dedicated in chasing down the rares than I'll ever be.
Some folk like the exclusivity of a rare/unique skin.
Some folk appreciate the difficult tame on Krush or The Beast.
Some really enjoy the barking dog or the colour changers or other odd behaviors.
For a lot of people, a matching or themed clook is important.
Relatively few I believe get a special pet becasue of the attention it receives.
