Ah, i love the troll forms to bits! They are certainly pixely compared to the new worgen stuff but I guess that follows their being around since vanilla. To me it'd be weird if i had my beloved bitty mohawk turn into some slick looking master piece. Until they update the looks for the old world races I feel they are justified making the forms of them match up graphically. And ooo, the colors! Pretty colors! Shiny colors! So fun, flamboyant and TROLLY! The worgen forms look so boring compared to them, though i suppose they match up with their race. Still, I feel they could do with a couple more flourishes if not more color.
I do seriously dig the worgen cat form, it looks so slick, but still don't understand why a worgen would be transforming into a cat instead of a wolf. That's gonna bug me.
In conclusion; Rolling a troll (Guuguubarra) and worgen (Weri) druid but will most likely fall in love with the former, and neglect the latter.
Bat flight form would be awesome for trolls, but I'm holding out for a kookaburra!

For no valid reason, of course, just because they look hilarious, and would be awesome when fitted with a pair of tusks.

Same here. They should have considered some kind of special wolf form for the kitty form. Maybe a "four feet on the ground" version of their worgen form. For bear form, maybe even some "on steroids" version of, say, a dire wolf. Not the in-game kind. There really were things called dire wolves, back in the day.
http://www.tarpits.org/education/guide/flora/wolf.html Dire wolves were big, stocky wolves, I think the largest canids ever (correct me if I'm wrong) and, with some tweaking could have looked very tanky. The worgen are werewolves, after all.

You know, I think you're right, Dvatori. It's not hatin' on trolls, it's making sure that there's no shell shock between swapping forms back to troll. When they bring all the old races in line with the new graphics, we'll see this upgraded. But right now, they have a loose deadline to hit, so this is a back burner sort of deal, since it works, even if it's not the prettiest.

[Incoming rant]
Now that we know troll druids have been hiding for over six years, how could they hide with bright colors like that?
I've always wanted to be a troll feral druid. Trolls are my favorite race and druids are my favorite class.
I want to love these forms. I really want do, but I cannot. I don't mind the bright manes, they need to match the troll hair colors somehow, but the fur colors... Not one bear or tiger looks like a realistic fur color for the species. I know the night elf forms aren't perfectly realistic either, but they aren't super neon bright. The colors are smooth and match with the landscape of the night elf areas nicely, plus they at least gave us a normal black bear/panther to those that didn't want to be pink.
I'm sowwy Blizzard, but these suck ass. Dare I say they are as bad as the old tauren cat. I will be model editting mine.
The worgen forms are very nice though.

"Huh, Druid.... I can't tell the colors from this distance... god I hope that's a Tauren since I'm flagged but I don't want to get closer to figure it out."
"Oh look, its the bear that got dropped in a vat of paint several times. /runs"
Ignoring the horrible texture and hoping to god that they just didn't notice for some reason and it'll get fixed before release. /denial
Generally, when I'm trying to identify somebody in this game, I hover over them with my mouse and look at my tooltip window.
(Really, out of all the arguments over the troll druid forms this has always striked me as the most inane. Not only are there a lot of ways to identify somebody without directly looking at them, but unless you have the draw distance of the gods and you can see p-dawg from 600 feet away, you'll be able to clearly see the difference between druid forms anyway!)

Prowl
If a male bright blue haired night elf rogue wearing a lovely red dress can stealth successfully, I can't see a troll druid having too many problems.
(okay, silly example, but still)

The white furred Troll Bear isn't too dissimillar from a polar bear. A little more grey/silvery than the real creature but certainly less bright than the other colour choices. I *think* the matching cat form is the pale blue furred tiger. Although it does not have a real-world natural equivelent colour, it isn't too dissimilar from the in-game cat Rak'Shiri. Also, the pelt of that tiger is complimentary to his mane colour as well.
*sigh* Sorry. I think I raged a little here. I don't really mean to step on peoples toes or insult them. But I do want to argue for these forms. I admit, I raged a little at the texture issues myself earlier. But thinking about it (and with some excelent points brought up by others in this topic) I can live with them. Happily.
It's okay not to like the colours of these guys. I undrerstand that the very bright, contrasting colours are not for everyone (although they do have artistic merit :3 ). But saying they are the unredeemable, horrible piles of excriment just because you personally don't like them? Remember that plenty of us do. Even love them to bits.
Let me end on the fact that I think that the models on MMO aren't entirely correct. The pics posted on Blizzard do seem to be a little toned down in comparison, so let me link them to you here:
Troll Bear
Troll Cat
Worgen Bear
Worgen Cat
Viva la Troll Forms!

I like the bright colors on the troll bear, but I hate what they did with the fur colors of the cats. All but one have a murky green-grey color scheme, which, paired with the neon hair, just doesn't match too well. That and the blurry textures are disappointing.

I said incoming rant for a reason. Do not take it personally if you do happen to like the troll druid forms. I just needed to get out my dislike for them.

Well, think of it as an counter-rant to your rant.
Seriously though. I didn't mean to seem like I was attacking your (and Feath3r's) post specifically. I've seen those arguments a lot all over the place recently and I needed to present my counter points (aka, I needed to rant a bit too, and your post(s) were a convenient launching point).

I thought I read somewhere that bliz does wanna update the old models a tiny bid to bring them up to par with the new ones?
It's just kinda low on the list right now :/
Anyways, on troll forms: I love the colors personally. I do agree though that the stripes should have been the color of the hair. I think it would have helped to tie it all together.

I still think Troll's textures look lazy and messy compared to the other races.

I love the Troll forms. I'd been lvling a Cow Druid and the SECOND I heard we were getting troll druids, I stopped and waited.
About 3 seconds after "Troll Druid" was confirmed, I looked to my wife and went "I hope we get a green bear and tiger" And.. we did. I'm fully happy with them.
Note: Possible spoiler....
In the Retaking of the Echo Isles event, when the Troll gal shows up to help in the fight.. she flys in.
As a bat. Not a bird.
Then later on when she flys back from finding Zalazane.
She's again a bat. I've done the event three times and looked close.
So... Bat as a flight form seems probable. It'd also fit for 'Werewolves' to get a bat form as well, instead of a bird.
So we'll see.
But I love the troll forms. I've already got my name reserved for mine.

I also like the flashy troll forms and I'm planning on giving druidism another try because of them. I've rolled druids before, both Tauren and Nelf, but I never got very far. But with the Trolls I guess it's time to have another go.

I actually think it would be kinda lame for Worgen to turn into wolfs precisely because they're halfway there already.
Worgen: So you can turn into animals?
Nelfkitty: Yes.
Worgen: That's kinda neat!
Nelfkitty: Indeed.
Worgen: I can turn into an animal too, you know.
Nelfkitty: Oh really?
Worgen: Yes, totally! Look! Look here!
*Worgen drops down to all fours shouting WOOOSH!*
Worgen: See!? See!? I'm wolf now! GRRRRR!
Nelfkitty: Fascinating. You clearly are just as good at this as I am.
I mean, Tauren don't turn into bulls either. So I don't see what's so weird about Worgen being both willing and capable to master other animal spirits besides wolfs. It would be weak of them if they didn't, imo.

The models from MMO-Champ are showing slightly older skins I think, as if you check out the official pages you'll see that the Worgen bears no longer have that weird coloration to the tips of their inner ears. Still, the Troll models look like they need work. There's something that's odd about the cats and their teeth. If you can look at the upper teeth between the fangs you'd notice that the Worgen cats only have three teeth while any of the others show four, and the Trolls have theirs rather strangely shaped and pushed together. Kinda sloppy mistakes?
The official page is here:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/und ... orms.shtml
Another thing to compare between the races are their claws! The Troll bear claws look really odd, while the Worgen cats get some nice fur details over the claws instead of such obvious lines. The tips of the Troll cat's braids also seem like they're wanting transparency instead of that shade of grey. Their beards are also too blocky in shape, missing some more transparency to give that hairy look. How in the world are they done? o_o

Mindsprocket, you've got a very good point there. A wolf to wolf transformation would be a wee bit under-whelming.
