Just a question regarding the Spirit Mend, How do you focus the heal on someone?

I'm unsure if that's possible. I thought that was just for the pet and the hunter.

The pet automatically casts it at someone in your party who is low on health.

It could also be like Master's Call or Roar of Sacrifice, where you can macro your pet to cast on your mouseover target (or however else you want to specify your target).
This is my RoS macro:
#showtooltip Roar of Sacrifice
/cast [target=mouseover,help][help][target=Kalliope] Roar of Sacrifice
If I don't have a friendly mouseover target, then it defaults to me. So I'd imagine that a spirit mend macro would work the same way. I don't have a spirit beast on the PTR, though, so I can't test.
