I know it matters on some personal level, but I mean functionally, need a white lion, head to Barrens, tame, done. It's still going to ding up to 3 under.

And i'm sure Shy-Rotam is going to be safe and this is jsut one of the many many many quest bugs due to be fixed as the beta progresses.

Functionally, yes it is important. Sian-rotam is easier for Alliance to get without major help/planning from Horde-side.

Okay, so I checked on the PTR (and am cross-posting here): this appears to be a Cataclysm change.

It's a bug.. or they're having a domestic dispute.

When you get her low enough in health (<50% maybe?) it still echoes that she calls out to her mate. So it seems like it's still intended for him to spawn.

He doesn't show up, however. I had her down to like 1% health and waited a long time and no show. Maybe he's down the pub.

Honestly, it never made sense that the mate of a frost saber was a lion, so maybe they'll change him to another rare tiger colour (maybe the same one that only new night elves can get?) and make the white lion a rare elsewhere... like in an area with lions

EDIT: she doesn't seem to call out for her mate every time though, even though I keep her alive and at low health. I'm not sure what triggers the emote sometimes and not others. Either way, he doesn't come.

I don't know if it matters, but a little while ago (2 weeks or so) I went after Sian-Rotam with my hunter on the live server, and while shy-Rotam called, sian never showed.
I abandonned and tried several times, had her health down below 25% and then simply ran in circles around the spawn area. And while she kept calling her mate he never showes, so I ended up taming Shy-Rotam instead.

Has anyone else tried to tame or summon those two recently? Maybe the quest was already bugged...

This was my impression from some recent discussion. I thought it was already bugged.

Funnily enough, I've been able to summon him on my main. And she's the only one who I know on my server who can do it. I've had a couple of friends try to get him, but they can't get him to turn up. I come along on my alts, again no luck. Finally I drag over Durana, pops up first tey each time. :S

I had no problem getting him to spawn live today (tried about 2 hrs ago roughly). He spawned, but... despawned when I killed Shy by accident. Whoops :s

It seems like Sian-Rotam is only bugged for some people then. I'll try again later, I abandoned the quest after taming Shy-Rotam so I can try again and see if he awnsers her calls this time around.

On the first ptr, before char wipe, I went and got him and Shy. I had to strip nekkid and punch her till her health dropped. And even then, it took 3-4 resets before he actually showed after her yelling for him to come. ALSO! do not reset or kill Shy he will despawn if you reset, and if you kill shy without him actually hitting you he will also despawn. (that took another few tries)

What I did back when I tamed Sian was to freeze trap Shy while I tamed and then kill Shy after. That way you don't have to worry about the despawn.

I read the post about Gezzerack being tameable and did the happy dance with everyone else,can't wait to tame her. BUT....

When I read this post and how they changed the quest,I actually cried...I had to abandon my Sianna to tame Skoll...only to have it killed by some Paladin...according to him,"because I was here...and you wanted him! LOLZ!" .../sigh

So not only did I not get Skoll,I lost my best pet evah.

Now,however,the first pet I tame in Cata...before the Hive Queen,before the Brain Bug,before foxes,monkeys,beetles,green cat,cat with glowing eyes,etc,.etc....will be a simple little cat from Winterspring....who will be by my side when Blizz finally shuts the servers down. (hopefully years from now... )

P.S. I also thought it was weird that a white lion was her mate. Now,if Blizz wanted to make me really,really,really happy....have her new mate Blackmaw!! (or his skin...either way works for me... )

I tried again today, and I got both Sian and Shy It didn't take as long as before either, he showed up right away when she called. Funnily enough, after taming Sian Shy called again and another one showed up.
I tried staying closer to the point where they spawn this time around, maybe that made a difference, although I did try to stay close the last few times I tried...

I now have Sian, Shy and Humar on my night elf hunter. It seems a bit like overkill to have three cats in my stables, but I love all three skins evenly, and all three cats are dear to my hunter, so three cats and a boar it is.
