At least cunning is doing decent damage at the moment
I know, and I'm psyched about that... but still glad beetles are now tenacity.

The cunning tree is the most flexible of the trees.
I'm all in favor of beetles being tenacity pets; definitely need more variety.

Exactly - whilst tenacity is optimized for tanking and ferocity is optimized for raid dps, cunning is a grab bag of different things all intended to be useful for PVP e.g. to allow you to respond quickly to wildly changing circumstances.

Tenacity can also be useful for PvP, but not quite in the same way as Cunning. It's more like "these are tanking talents that also work in PvP" rather than abilities that are specifically designed for it (like Bullheaded).

Right, it's a matter of optimization - tenacity and ferocity can still be useful in PVP just like a cunning pet can also function as a tenacity or ferocity pet if need be, however if you want to get hardcore, tenacity is what you want for tanking, ferocity for DPS and cunning for PVP (although in cata, cunning may actually end up being equally optimized for DPS and PVP - still early to say for sure though... and I suspect if cunning ever does truly eclipse ferocity that it will get hit with the nerfbat).
