It wasn't bad at all, just not a pet I felt like having, however when I started moving I had to let it go. They have a horrible model glitch where the back breaks every time they run. It's similar to what happens with Hyenas, but on the Fox it's just so much more obvious. >< Poor thing looks like someone snaps its neck and forequarters each time it takes a stride. Don't think I could handle looking at that constantly.
Booo. I wanted one for my blood elf. Well I'll still check them out... :(

That's odd because I love their run animation :P Can't say I have noticed the glitch in the run yet, I like their idle animations also.

Oh no, that's so sad :( I've been so much looking forward to the foxes. But I let my hyena go because I couldn't bare watching his poor back break with every step :(
I hope they'll fix it, I'll at least try them out anyway just to see if I can live with it.

I submitted a suggestion about it. If anyone's seen a Hyena run they'll know what I'm talking about by broken back. The only thing is the Fox model has it even worse, you can see this unnatural chunk of their back rise up in a blocky shape while running. Very pronounced.

It's hard to describe, but yeah...it's pretty glaring. ><

Now that my Model Viewer has decided to start working with the Cataclysm files I was able to make a quick animated gif of the fox running animation.

It's probably ignorable if you don't focus on it, but for the brief time I was testing a fox in Beta it was too obvious and distracting. It uses the same skeleton as the coyote models, but I think they could have spent a bit more time making it mesh better. This doesn't look bad on coyotes with their fur details, but since foxes are rather flat the geometric shapes just pop out a lot more. The way the back breaks and the clipping of the legs would bother me enough that I wouldn't be able to keep one if I wanted a fox.

That big point that juts out of its throat is pretty bothersome, too. This is why I can't use hyenas, things like that just irk me too much. Like you said, though, it's a lot more concealed on wolves with the added fur to where I don't notice it. But on the smooth models, it's very obvious.

I tried a crab last night and something stuck out to me immediately: their feet slide on the ground while they're idle. The night elf male feet used to do the same thing, but they fixed it. But if you watch, even though the crabs are technically standing still, their feet slide. It bothers me.

Yeah, once I notice something I have a hard time un-noticing it. ><

Oddly enough the Hyenas don't bother me much. It could be their details and shading, but it's not so obvious on them. The fox is just so plain and smooth that all these irregularities stick out like a sore thumb.

It's the same for Silithid tanks. The non-dancing idle makes them slide around a bit.

Ah, oddly enough I haven't noticed it on the silithids. It must be because they're so jumpy and always moving anyway. Hopefully I'll forget you told me that so that I don't look.

Can't remember if this was discussed already, but do brainbugs have the same type of super-mobile idle animations, or something more ponderous (hoping for the latter - stuff with armor plate shouldn't dance around)?

The brainbugs don't dance around, no worries. One idle animation is a glance from side to side, which shows off their scythe claws a bit, and the other is just a gentle sort of body shake.

I'm pretty sure they don't, just based on the model viewer. I can't wait for my brainbugs for all the the above-stated reasons. >_<

They also do the front leg bug-rub, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm like you guys, I have a hard time un-seeing things I've noticed. It's one reason the female cat skin bothers me (though not so much on the very translucent ghost saber). The big triangular "fur" sticking out on either side of the face when you look from the front just... ugh. Man, I'm so picky!

And their eyes are really close together, it's freaky. It's like the general shape of the nose and eyes is flipped. It should be wide between the eyes and thin at the nose, but instead they have a huge schnoz and narrow-set eyes.
