Just found Aotona after a bad WSG flew around some more of its spawn locations and bam there it is bright colorful bird

I remember Aotona being quite the pain in the butt to hunt for...specially the *first* day I started my hunt, I flew down into the Basin, and there she was. Half dead because a shaman was killing her. After that it was almost painful looking for that bird, heh. Finally got her though.

I would agree that rare pets are quite annoying to tame. But there is nothing like the feeling of finally bagging and tagging them.

Tuesday rolls around and i was farming SB like normal looking for this lovely and KK. Circled the zone for a couple then had to log over to my main for raid. Minute raid is done log back over to circle some more to only have my Npc Watch go off. I wasn't able to target with he button why? cause another just tamed her Oh well just another hunter not looking next time i come in the zone so i make a couple circles of the area for the king get nothing.

So out of the blue i think lets go and check on Arcturis. Ever since 4.0 dropped seems to be multiple hunters at his tame spot. I do a /who Grizzly and come up with no 80 hunters so i say what the hell. Fly straight over from SB to GH and look what is waiting for me on the hill with no one in sight. Quickly dismiss my pet and tame him to have another hunter land behind me not 5 secs after the tame ends. So its all about luck and perseverance a tame will jump up and bite you when you are least expecting it.

This makes my 3rd rare in a week (Uhk'loc and Nuramoc also)

Still no luck with Aotona... sighs 9days boo....

Wow... it spawned and a Warlock came killed it on me while taming... what kind of people do that? so upset.

Sadly that happens alot. So much in fact that its just makes you numb. I dont get why people do that, when they see the rare tagged they have to kill it, no reason.. no cause just hey its a rare and the hunter is taming it I must kill it so that the hunter doesnt get it. It happens alot with other factions, and it happens more often now with the patch for some reason. The jers came out of the woodwork.. I would have reported him but I still dont know if the GMs do anything about them. I swear everyone should put in a ticket to blizzard to change it so that if something is tagged like a rare with the tame ability, that pet becomes immunes to others but then again theres always the jerkes who will take advantage of that and just ruin it..

I am also looking for aotona on my other hunter, got KK a few days ago and now the bird. More ellusive then the green dino I swear lol. Good luck on your hunt. I know youll get him

Aw, I'm so sorry wildstormz. I know the feeling, and I don't understand why people do that. Did you have her tagged, out of curiosity? It's always best to tag a mob with a quick arcane shot or something right before you start the tame (but be careful not to kill it, of course) so that people can't kill it and get the loot. But when you're nervous, you can often forget to do that. I meant to do that with Gondria and forgot, so I was nervous the whole time the tame bar went down.

Anyhow, you know when you last saw her, so now it's a matter of camping her in another 6 or 8 hours or so (whenever the earliest theoretical respawn time is) and begin again.

did you have it tagged? what i recommend, is at least shoot him first, that way he's your kill if he gets killed.

It could have been if you just hit "tame" that he saw it was not tagged, and got the first shot in to make sure to get credit for his pointless lame achievement that means absolutely nothing and is a horrible aspect of the game (Frostbitten Achievement)


Oh and try putting in a ticket to a GM saying you were in the process of taming. Who knows they might give you pity...

I was already taming the Warlock said he didnt see me.... but he said he put ticket up for me to get pet restore if i get lucky :O but im gunna keep hunting since ticket are like so delayed at the moment! Im never gonna give up!

I'm sorry to say this wildstormz, but a GM wouldn't be able to help you. She was killed before the tame completed, meaning there will not be a record of her being 'yours'. They can only restore pets that existed in your stable at some point in time. Almost-tames unfortunately don't count.

That sucks well im still eyeing for it so tired! it got killed at 10:23am in moring hoping it spawn around 7am-10am somewhere..

What ever you do don't give up!!! Got my bird today after quite awhile camping and seeing her tamed last night.

I must have been lucky these past few days. Since last Sunday: Gondria, Skoll, Krellak and just last night: Aotona. I was playing with NPCSCAN setup and just after adding Aotona in the list I close the setup screen and BWAAAANNNG; Alert: Rare spotted - Aotona. Just in front of me (just East of the Hemmet Nessingway camp.

I was so glad... he (I decided it's a male) is looking great. Too bad the Trick animation is not working on him....

Finally AT LAST I BETTER THANK BLIZZCON FOR MAKING PEOPLE NOT PLAY WOW FOR A DAY! lolz... it was really quiet in the Area which was good but there was still lots of hunters was in the area about 10 hunters but mostly they were after Loque and King krush.

Today was my Best day ever why ? Well here`s the news! Today i tamed Loque (Wildstormz) 8pm server time! Then tamed King krush (Krushie) at 2am Server time! Then at 7:25am i Tamed Aotona AT LAST!!!!!! Thanks for your support everyone I also still havent got name for my Aotona yet!

Whoa, talk about a string of great luck!! Congrats Wildstormz, on all three pets.
