I'm still wondering about what will happen to your mounts if you race/faction change into a worgen. I'm sure with a race change racial mounts you have will just stay the same (like it you went night elf druid to worgen druid you keep your saber mounts) but a faction change? If I went tauren druid to worgen druid what will happen to my kodo mounts? Will they turn into a random alliance mount, a certain set mount (like all human horses), or disappear?

I logged into the beta just now to see if I have any Horde characters with an available faction change, and I do. But since she doesn't have any of the goblin mounts I'm not sure how helpful that test would be.

I'm on the Beta and I went from a Dwarf Priest to a Worgen Priest. I kept all my old dwarven mounts. I just look silly as a Worgen on a ram is all. lol

Lucky for you Gilneas is just a 1-12 zone where they then poop you out to Darkshore and you can start gaining night elf rep.

Personally, running wild works. They're wolf-men...what kind of animal is going to let some savage beast that will eat it ride it? It makes sense for them to just drop to all fours and start running. Hell, I'd be happy if they implemented something similar for tauren! What a relief it would be to actually fit in ALL the doorways. From my experiences of messing with high level worgen on beta, I only had running wild out on my bars in place of mounts. The worgen in their worgen forms just look goofy on most of the mounts from what I've seen, same as the tauren do.

The only reason I think they should add a mount is for all the people that will complain about not getting a mount from Gilneas. Hell! The Gilneans don't even have their home city anymore, they might as well just share rep with the night elves, in my opinion.

For the topic on the number of Alliance mounts versus Horde:
The quick way to check is at http://www.warcraftmounts.com/
Just click the alliance mount link. At the bottom, it'll say how many mounts are available. Same for the hoard. Currently, it lists a total of 159 for each faction to potentially use. That number includes class specific mounts, WoW TCG mounts, removed mounts, and dropped mounts, near as I can tell.

For those of you with your tinfoil hats on out there I'll list all the faction specific mounts, not counting quested/faction mounts like the Winterspring Frostsabers for the Alliance, nor any of the Argent tourney mounts. Its easy enough to see we have equal numbers there right now. I'm just sticking to the basic Core Faction mounts, because that is where the discrepancy used to be

As you can see, both races have 33 core faction mounts they can get. In BC and beyond, Bliz was careful to make sure that any additional faction based mounts added to the game were equal on both sides. Both factions have an equal number of initially obtainable flying mounts. Both factions have an equal number of PVP mounts they can obtain. Both factions have a long quest/reputation grind for an additional mount (Winterspring Frostsabere versus Venomhide Ravasaur). Each individual race has 2 additional mounts obtainable at the Argent Tournament. There are many, many other dropped mounts and reputation mounts in the game that are not specific alliance or horde, and are obtainable by both.
So, at the end of Wrath of the Lich King, Horde and Alliance are equal, mount wise anyway.
Come Cata ? Goblins, and therefor the Horde, get 6-7 additional mounts, and unless there's a secret mount vender added to the game before then, the Alliance doesn't. After all that hard work in wrath to balance out the number of mounts, I find it odd that Bliz would unbalance it.


So, why does this matter ?

Several reasons:
1. More mounts make it that much easier for the Horde to get the 50 and 100 mount achievements, as well as any other future mount achievements, such as a 150 one. It may not seem like much, but City reputations are easy to grind, and when you're one mount away from one of the achievements, tell me having your character's faction being short 6-7 mounts isn't a big deal. It is.
2. I'm with Mania and those wanting Worgen specific mounts. I want more cool mounts to ride. More mounts are more fun, and provide motivation for players to get exalted with Gilneas.
3. It doesn't make sense. Worgen will have to have the riding skill anyway to fly. They'll have to use mounts to fly. They're originally humans. Many of the people in/from Gilneas are still human. Hell you even ride a horse in one of the Gilneas quests to rescue a guy hanging in a tree(been a while since I saw the quest, I don't remember the details). Why don't they have mounts ? On a side note, if Running Wild should let me fly, then I demand to have tracks of fire, alla Back to the Future, behind me if I have 310% flying and use Running Wild

The only options I've thought of so far that'd make any sense would be to:
A. Give Worgen a faction specific mount selection.
or...
B. Make the Goblin Trikes avalible through Steamwheedle Cartel Rep. They're goblins. They love gooold.

I do love an idea of being able to buy goblin mounts via rep. Trikes look pretty awesome, and it would fit.
But I'm jaded and pessimitic and I think Blizz will just leave it as it is, shafting Alliance.

I agree that the Alliance should get mounts to compensate for the Horde gaining more (and from what I remember seeing on beta, there's only like two goblin trikes--the epic and non-epic). I'm just rather upset that the silly Worgen get Plainsrunning... I miss Plainsrunning on my Tauren from original beta. I was sad when they gave them Kodos (ORCS ride kodos, not tauren, haven't they even PLAYED the other WC's??)

From a mount standpoint, I think it's quite lovely that Worgen get something very unique. It makes perfect sense to me, and if Cata is truly throwing out mounts / mount reps like they say, I wouldn't be worried, though I am not a hardcore mount collector.

That statement that you decided to break apart away from its original sentence was made with the "let's keep goblin trikes Horde only" one you previously quoted. Please don't twist a second meaning into my words that wasn't intended. I don't wish for the Allies to have trikes because Blizzard already gave them access to 4 out of the 5 Horde mounts while Horde only have access to ~2 out of the 5 Alliance ones.

I've also said previously that I wish for Blizzard to keep the mounts equal so that we may see less Q_Q threads about how the Horde has more (even though they're only getting 2 trikes). I would like for Blizzard to be creative about adding in the mounts. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the stagecoaches the worgen use in their starting zone would be very cool, and somewhat complimentary to the goblin mount (vehicle for vehicle type deal). The model already exists in the game and they could make it very simple like the trikes; non-epic and epic.
