I've got a Purple Tallstrider named PeopleEater, and had a boar named Breakfast. Both always tend to get a laugh. Saw someone the other day with a jormunger worm named Tape.

Also, I have Firefly the moth, I had Kil the crow after one of our guild druids...And I have Iorek, who is named after the armored bear in the Golden Compass. (Armored wolf, armored bear? Yeah.)

On my Nesingwary Hunter, she has a beaten up cat named Maurice that talks. A rat may or may not follow them, and it may or may not talk.

Got my new pets named finally few weeks ago.

I got my exotics named... decently exotic: Jínx, Dùjì, Kvíðin, Carface, Tremor (ghost worm powaaa~~)
Then the normal little ones: Anma, Nomster, Trackster, Solex, Duomo, Reivi, Noctus, Kaleido, Velenu, Ohmmy

The few ones that have got comments have been Carface and Nomster. They are the ones that I've used in random instances at least.

Here's a few of mine in no particular order...

Black Lion - Slyphwind. Gotten quite a few cool name compliments and questions about the name's origins. Leveled up with this guy primarily from Vanilla through Wrath. I was still suffering EQ withdrawal when I got him, heh, though that wasn't the only thing that inspired his name.
Armored Black Boar - Porker. The Squeelin' Tankin' Bacon. He'd hold onto anything back when I was leveling in vanilla. My friends loved hearing him charge in.
Ghost Jormungar - Graboid. Who gets the reference ? ^_^
Green Slime - EbilBooger. My raid loved him for VD fights because he had Blood of the Rhino. I wonder how many here will catch the reference in half of his name...
Spirit Leopard - Lazerkitteh - My first SB, people in guild commented about the "Lazer beamz ! pewpewpew !!!" and it kinda stuck, heh.
Blue Spectral Saber Worg - Raiju. And I have another I'll be naming Raijin when I remember. Mythical Japanese thunder beast and Lightning beasts, respectively.
Purple Spectral Tiger - Byakko. Lord of the West, Chinese Mythology.
Spectral Bear - Mengsk. Gotten a few chuckles from those who catch the reference
Grey Hyena - Ed. Seemed appropriate, heh. Should be an easy reference to get
Black Devilsaur - Chomper
Green Devilsaur - Krush
Grey Core Hound - Fluffy. Picked up for my BeastCleave comp, my partners loved the idea of the casters getting eaten by a pet named "Fluffy." Plus there's the obvious reference, lol.
Bicolor Worg - Koutetsukiba. Roughly, Iron Fang. At least, thats what I was trying for. I'm not sure how well it translates.

I have had a turtle named Lockjaw since forever. I once had someone whisper me that it was cool, then quickly start talking about old-school EverQuest stuff.

Apparently, Lockjaw was a named turtle in EQ so he thought that was where I got the name from. Really, I just thought Lockjaw was an appropriate name for a turtle.

My Hordeling hunter's turtle is named Shellshock because there can be only one Lockjaw

Rhage is my black devilsaur, I get some people saying how awesome a name that is, some tell me how cool it is cause they get the refrence.
And of cource Raiden my skoll lol

Kael's gotten a couple of "wait you can name your pet that?" as has DathRemar.

Black Scorpian - SunTzu (seemed appropriate)
Devilsaur - RENTAZILLA (megatokyo reference)

Haven't seen too many good ones of late or maybe I'm just not smart enough to capture their references

No order for mine, but I try (mostly) to put some thought into my pet's names.

A Turquoise Raptor named Garvin. It means "Spear-friend", and Garv was Tanin's first and only loyal pet for a long time. He never tamed another, until he was in his mid-70's.
Blue moth: Masha.
Blue silithid: Herbie. He's a love-bug.
Jormungar: John. He's named after an OC of mine I occasionally write about. John is a tank of a guy, so it seemed appropriate.
Green Devilsaur: Krush. He flat out refused to be called anything else.
Cobalt Windserpent: Algodones. The veining patterns on his wings and the bright blue of his skin reminded me of the turquoise jewelry I used to see sold in the Algodones tourist market when I was a kid.
Purple parrot: Hyacinth. There's a long, funny story behind the name. The day I caught Aotona, I went back to Dalaran to try and think of a name so I didn't bother people in the Basin with NPCscan going off. Trying to think of one, I was playing with the 'go to' command and a random 70-something DK comes running up to me and whispers, "WHER U GET". I assumed he was referring to the bird. Feeling a little too much in-character and thinking I could make a joke, I told him that the bird used to be a hyacinth macaw but just kept getting bigger. "He used to be a minipet," I said. Well, the DK was quiet for a bit and I was convinced he was going to call me out on my little joke. I just about choked on my breakfast when he came back with, "can u buy on ah". Well, I told him the truth, that you can find them on the AH sometimes, but were really expensive. I also told him where he could farm a hyacinth macaw minipet of his own. He ran off quite excited. I hope he's not disappointed at the size difference between a level 77 Aotona and a macaw minipet!
