These hawks give me the creeps, personally. Poor things should be euthanized. But at least they still have some flesh on them and are actually just "really sick" rather than dead. Those bone raptors and wind serpents, however, are just bones. No flesh left at all, no room for belief they might still be alive. They're undead and, cool or not, I believe they should probably stay that way :/

*nods to Wain* I agree. The others are "too dead" to count as tamable. And at least the demons/spirits/ghosts are "unearthly."

These undead eagles at least look like malnourished birds dressed up as mummies for Halloween.

these birds are bugged

They can fly and attack pets that are flying in the air im sure they are not ment to do that

and its trick works

UPDATE: It turns out that the seagull, golden jawk or w/e its called from loch modan can also fly after pray but my owl cant now if this is just a problem with my owl or all owls i dont know

That's weird that these birds are listed as "Birds of Prey". And I'm not a fan of this "skin" either.

It might have something to do with the base model for owls being different, since their trick ability doesn't work.

Whoo! I planend an Undead Boar of awesome for Zeraph anyway so now she can get a pretty damn dead friend for it!

Seriously what is it with me and diseased/dead pets? Maybe I should have started to get worried when I made an alt especially for them.

I mean these birds can fly up into the sky to attack a mob in the air while owls cant fly up into the sky to kill mobs they are restricted to the ground

I noticed that last night.. went to deadmines and my deadeagle took out the rare parrot before I had a chance to stop it. don't know if any of the new birds do that..

I think they still have a radius limit. not sure where to test it.

But it makes sense that a flying pet should be able to go up into the air within some reasonable range to fight. But yeah, other flying pets should have that too ideally.

I have always LOVED the Undead pets... emphasis on the LOVE part, as I've also always been into horror & gore movies & the like....

So yes ALL my hunts will have this boney cutey pie.

Now... all we need is an undead & or diseased KITTY!!!

Winna's kitten still looks pretty sickly, possibly even "diseased". Perhaps that would work for ya?

I sent in a request too. I also told hunters I passed that was asking me about my pets on the beta to send in requests for tameable undead birds and wind serpents.

I sent in so many requests for so many things that I may be in danger of not getting another beta invite from Blizzard ever again.

Oh WOW! I first saw that model when I was waiting for the fire elementals and rift in Northrend and was hoping that they might be tamable come Cata.

"Nope, undead birds will never be tamable. Not gonna happen. Undead. Not beast. Does... not... compute... zzzzk*"



So anyway, yeah they did make them tamable, and I am totally going to go get one.

These particular models are listed as UndeadEagle though...

Yes. Yes it does.

Slight bump, but I'd like to point out that these are tameable if you (like me) accidentally completed the quest without knowing they were one of a kind.

You'll need a friend who has the quest or has the chain still available. Works best if they do not out-level the eagles too much.

First step is to group up, then duel your friend atop the mountain. Have them let you win.

Next part is a bit tricky. Have your friend call down an eagle, either with a ranged attack or by talking to Zul'Kiki, then tag the eagle with a harmless attack (scatter shot/melee attack if they are not too strong). Start taming it and it should occasionally turn to attack your buddy, canceling the tame. Repeat until they are dead, then start the tame. (Note: Feigning MIGHT work for this)

If everything goes perfect, you should have your disgustingly ugly undead eagle!

Aggro drops on the bird definitely work, so your friend doesn't have to die.
