For further reading.... from a Tom Chilton interview over at MMO_Champion:

People aren't very sure of what's going live with Patch 4.0.3a, and what will be added on December 7th with the actual release of the expansion. Will people be able to visit the new zones added to the old world such as Uldum or Mount Hyjal?

TC: Well, obviously those zones have been patched to players. They won't be available until players can level up. What we've done is kind of early stages... we've done a bit of terrain phasing to make them unavailable. But we're not gonna be surprised when players find a way to get in.

Ultimately what matters is that they can't actually do any of the quests until they're Cataclysm account enabled.

From how I read that (and its flow into the next set of questions), it seems the new zones will be there in 4.0.3a, but will be blocked off... but if you can find a way in you can look around... and that is about it. I am not even sure if the creatures/NPCs will be around.

I also know that if you can't figure out how to get into certain areas that Eagle Eye should help you if you just want to look.

I understand why Gilneas will be open considering how Deathwing basically made the gate 'not closed' anymore.

Oh.. fun. I can so see that as a guild event! Hide and seek where it really matters, haha.. considering.. Orgrimmar is.. so changed.. playing hide and seek there would be worse then UC..

Aw if only blizzard would let us get into Twilight highlands (believe me I tried, I tried everything to find a good vantage point for eagle eye.. died in the process or got kicked to the wetlands..) I.. pretty much want to get one shotted by Karoma.

I could soo see a guild event for that. OMG Karoma is up! First one to get to him without dying wins a prize!

I didn't see him, but honestly, I didn't know he existed, so I didn't know to look for him.

Regarding checking out the Cata zones, I spent a bit of time checking out Twilight Highlands last night after the main servers went down. And yes, Karoma was up. Visited the shale spiders too. <3 Eagle Eye.
