I am not in the thinking set of mind right now so I am confused.

So... the bird once spawned will live up to 60sec if you don't kill it?

So remove all haste gear and with 10.5 seconds left (from the 60sec) start the tame... so far am I correct?

Can you go ahead and kill the guy that spawns the bird and after the bird is spawned then just sit there for 49.5sec... then start tame?

How do you know when it is 49.5 seconds?

I have been out most of the day Christmas shopping so I can't grasp reality right now, so explaining it in easier terms would be great.

A /timer should be able to help with this. It won't be perfect, but it'll be a help. And yes, the bird stays alive when its summoner drops. So when the bird has been summoned, you can kill the mob that called it and wait.

Wednesday shutdown for EU realms, so I can't give this a try, but I might just to experiment. I'm pretty happy with my ghostly non-misty blue bird, but it's still interesting to me to at least see what it looks like!

Someone willing to risk it should give arena a try, to see if it loses the aura. Or having it die and ressing it.

freezing trap lasts 60 sec now, trap it asap and time your tame accordingly

Awesome guide. It took me a few tries, but I was able to get it. Now I have to choose between this bird or the undead one... and that's pretty much IF I keep a bird. I seem to miss out on a lot of these glitch tames, so I might keep him.

Well, it took a bit of fiddling with timing and how much of her gear I could keep on in order to hit the proper timing right with my connection, but Kyrie now has a shiny new glow! Thanks for figuring this out!

I registered for this forum just to say that I tamed this without a timer and on the very first try...it kinda blew my mind because it took me so many times for the oil stained wolf. Now I have my special aura bird and the author to thank!
P.S. We should all start hunting for the long forgotten npc summoned animals with things like this. (it's so COOL)

Actually, speaking of special pets, has anyone tried the crabs in Swamp of Sorrows with the booze bottles? They keep them until they die, so it should work, in theory.

Awesome! I was really bummed when I found I couldn't tame the oil-stained worg, but this is even better. Currently on my way there.

Silt Crawlers! In the northeast part of the zone, near the goblin town. Their buff shows up like the wolves', is that it does appear as a buff. They don't drop their buff, nor spawn it, so this might not be possible to pull off. But hey, in case anyone's thought of something...

Wow great discovery! But hey! Will this work with the chimera's in Azshara. There are ones that demons cast a strange spell on and they get a shadow priest like effect to them.

Funny... I do not have ANY fail messages. Its just gone as a Oiled wolf, restart - and nothing :O))

Tamed the bird with the glow-- except when I summoned it, it has no standard pet skills (growl, cower, bite). Anyone else experience this?

Nevermind, he does know them, they just are not on the pet bar proper. If you look in the spellbook, there there are, right where they should be.

Well, considering that Blizzard tried to disable flying in hunter pets today, this will quickly become a moot point.
