I think Scarface would be better. Poor wolf. On a side note, all these discoveries are well and good, but the flip side of this is that it may draw attention from Blizzard and their merciless anti-fun bat. Hopefully, the pain and luck that goes into getting pets like this will be enough to deter them from "removing" special effects, but the wise Hunter will get these pets while it lasts.

That does not sound like something that would last even when he enters in combat Ultrafiction
Ill go check it out right now, on my way to the wolf anyway
Your suggestions are appreciated

that's awesome. That was the one thing that made me sad about taming him normal was seeing the sword gone, despite the fact that he's still with a "transparent" appearance

It stays during the duration of a tame, but he loses it at the tame. Kinda just like everything else with recent discussion. I'm interested in hearing your feedback!!!

Well I got mine too after about an hour of trying. Timing was trickier than the oil hawk. Had no real timer like i had with my serpent sting. So it all came down to trail and error. But here he is!

And second picture shows the buff he has from the sword.

Hi long time lurker on these forums but had to finally post after these finds. As soon as I saw The Lone Wolf trick I also went and tried. I slightly changed the tactic and had my wife shoot and kill him as the tame finished instead of relying on timing SS or traps. Worked on the 20th try. Thanks for the find.

Pictured below, Kushi (Japanese for skewer) myself and my wife.

Gratz on the tames! Keep it up Griffley! :)

Named mine Fenrir after a Nors myth about a wolf who got stabbed through the head :)

I can't tame any of these new pets (oily wolves, birds, lone hunter, etc).

I've tried for hours and nothing. Wish I knew exactly what to do. I suck at these things.

As much as I'm glad to see more... interesting pet perks show up, I am praying this doesn't become the fad pet for my active servers. I can just about stand the brain bug withough being grossed out by flexing brains. But this somehow disgusts me more, I think it's just the sword clearly STABBING AN ANIMAL and just.

It makes me flinch and wince and I can't look at it for very long >_<

Don't get me wrong I am happy for you guys I just... hope it doesn't become popular.

you can always normal tame him. He comes without the sword in the head that way. and has a spectral wolf look to him.

Hi all, longtime lurker, first time poster. I actually found a fellow petopian reader on Bloodhoof(US) while we were both attempting to tame the glowing carrion birds. I ran into him again at the wolf. After watching me roll my face on it for what had to be an hour or more (and failing) with traps, we decided to go the " you shoot as I tame" route. Note, this won't work for everyone if you can't find a willing buddy, but I simply could not get traps+ melee or serpent sting+ melee, or trap alone to work.

This is our method. It takes a lot of timing.

Tamer:
Strip down so you white hit for around 200, you want to get the wolf as low as possible (definitely within kill shot range)
Then begin taming.
As soon as your tame ends hit revive. I cannot stress this step enough, even if your shooter is spot on this will fail 100% of the time if you don't hit revive as your tame ends.

Shooter:
/focus and have cast bars. I stood very close to the wolf and shot as (perhaps .5s before) tame ended.
That's all you have to do.

--------------
If the mob dies and the golden "tame flash" goes off, the tamer failed at hitting revive fast enough.

If the tame is successful the shooter failed.

-------------

If the mob disappears without the tame flash (or regardless if you're cautious and hopeful) log out. You'll see the wolf as your pet on the character selection screen. Log in and res. Knifeface is yours!

I was able to find the magical spot to get him to die and disappear while I mashed Revive Pet as fast as I could... but when revived he didn't have the knife.

I guess time to try again.

edit: ACK! I was able to recreate the magical spot again but this time when I saw that I was reviving him I jumped up to stop the revive and logged out.

I see the wolf on my login screen, but when I try to login to my hunter the loading screen freezes at 100%... :o

So I don't know if it worked or not, and I don't know if I borked my game by hitting the super duper magical spot.

hey first time poster, long time lurker. Love this website and community being informative to the hunter community and i love my main hunter. I have tried for a while on this pet and was wondering if you do start to revive when it does die does that mean it worked? and should log out to obtain it? i tried reviving it at the very moment it die and let it continue casting but when revived didnt show the graphic
