Oh, and I REALLY like the above idea of Blizzard changing the colors of the NPC IDs of the bronze and blue Madexxes (Madexii? Madexxs?)
Dunno about those scorpids or other Uldum mobs, sorry. I'm still waiting for my chars to copy across. Probably 24 hours now

Sure, I still tamed Madexx, sure, I still camped him for days and days etc etc but the fact is no one will know that and no one will care because one would just assume I tamed a blue scorpion instead of camped for the rare. Call me petty or superficial but I enjoy the unique, "special" feeling of a unique-skinned rare, even more so one that was more or less labelled "the new Loque" and given a completely unique game mechanic of being able to spawn in multiple different colours.
Will I keep my Madexx? Sure. Do I still love him? You bet. Will I be able to run around with him in Stormwind and be proud of the fact that I spent time and effort on him and every in the know hunter knows this? Nope. Cause NPC ID means nothing but a way to set off people's scanners in a main city XD
How would all those Loque campers, people who spent weeks/months or even just long days hunting for that cat, feel if (in WOTLK) patch notes came along with "Loque nahaks model is now a common spawn in Zul drak"... "Time lost proto drake is now obtainable through completing the 5 daily quests achievement"...
I'm not really as worked up about this as I fear I sound hahaha. It's great that people who really love them can now obtain the models. But it's not cool that a unique to game rare skin has just been made common. I don't particularly want to camp another skin either. I spent time on this one and I've grown really attached and have no desire for another scorpid in my stables

Went through Deepholm and Twilight Highlands, found no new mobs in the areas. I'll check Hyjal for any new mobs there.

Yeah, I really wish Blizz wouldn't take rare, unique skins and put them on common mobs. This has nothing to do with Madexx specifically. At the very least, make the new common mob a different color. I hurt for the people who spent hours upon hours of their lives camping for a rare pet with a special appearance, only to have it become something that anyone can pick up. Yeah, the NPC ID is different, but honestly, that's just NOT the same as having the unique skin.
I tamed Humar back when I was level 20-something, and he was my leveling companion all the way to 80. When they stuck Pitch in Sholazar, I felt sad. I still love my Humar, but I still wish he were still the unique skin that he was when I tamed him.

As I said in my previous post.. I have been in Uldum for over three weeks waiting for the Green Madexx to spawn.
As I was nearing week #2 the bronze/brown one spawned and I tamed it just in case I never saw any others alive... this was after I saw about 10 killed and only 2 others tamed.
Am I upset over the bronze one being made into a regular mob? No, and truthfully I will probably get the blue regular non-rare one too.
It all comes down to how YOU want to play the game. Your opinion only really matters to one person. You.
I can see how people would get upset over this, and I can see how people wouldn't care.
I personally would like every rare
pet in the game to be on an hour timer just like Ashtail. While the rare mobs that give you mounts when killed either be on a 72hr timer, or have placeholders and always have a small chance of spawning when a placeholder is killed.
But that is my opinion, and it only matters to me.

I do sympathize with those who want their pets to be rare and remain that way. I mean it's not that illogical, lots of people like having testaments to their accomplishments: be it mounts, companion pets, or tamed hunter pets. I suppose things becoming common doesn't bother me too much; it didn't bother me they made Karoma when I already had Grimtotem Spirit Guide. It doesn't change I accomplished something back then.
In my opinion, I welcome at least 2 colors of Madexx being common. I mean I really only want the blue and black, and I'm still just gonna have to camp for black madexx. Cause I really hate having Madexx killed by stupid people thinking they'll get loot.

I have the bronze Madexx (which was the color I wanted), and I think it's great that such a beautiful skin and model will be easier to obtain for everyone.
Thank you, thank you for the pics and info from the PTR--keep them coming!

Well, I'm certainly not camping for a blue Madexx anymore. I'll make due with red.
But as rares become "common", the way I look at it is that it allows me to go back to pets I really like.

I feel the same way, they just ruined Madexx completely, aside he has 3 other unique colours, his model and colours accordingly themselves were unique and what made them special.. thanks blizz, if anything, I hope they arent tamable time patch hits.. or even there at all >.<

Heh, a little perplexed at why some people are so upset over this, I suppose I just don't really understand.
I've got the blue Madexx, love him to pieces.

This change has absolutely no effect on my feelings towards him nor at Madexx in general. No skin is going to be 'unique'. I see the rare unique models
far more than common skins. You'd be more likely to get stares standing in a city with a plain brown boar or something.

Love your pet for who it is, not over its rarity. If you want the thrill of the hunt, then camp for Madexx. Who cares if there's a couple of the skins out there now on regular mobs? Your pet will be your pet, nothing can change that.
But hey, that's just how I see it.

Blizzard didn't make you camp that long just like Blizzard hasn't made me camp that long. I don't blame Blizzard for me throwing 3 weeks down the drain so far.
I will gladly quit camping and do actual FUN stuff if the green one shows up as a non-rare. Camping for a couple of days is "exciting". Camping for 2+ weeks is tedious, boring, and causes way too much stress.

I admit...kind of hoping the blue/bronze non-rares are color-changers. If not, I don't think I'll be keeping an eye out for blue Madexx 'just in case'...instead, I'll keep rockin' Tol Barad dailies with my red Ismat. The initial hunt for me is often as much about skin as model, the challenge of obtaining THAT particular look. Sometimes that changes (*hugs her Griever*), but that's just how I frequently view the hunt.

Seems there are more random mobs in Uldum as well. Some of the elementals got reskinned too. haven't found the new scorpids yet.
edit: found the new scorpid.. yeah, I really do like blue.. I'll probably get one, and won't camp anymore.

I don't mind if all of Madexx's skins were made common. He'd still be Madexx. Might just mean less competition from hunters - though you'd still have the competition with rare killers. If you don't want to take the time to camp and camp... and camp to get the Madexx you want, you can just go and tame a common version. Does it matter if others know the difference?
My little worgen has her Humar. Once she's past the lvl where Pitch is tameable, will I care if people think she grabbed Pitch? No, because I know it's Humar and that he'll have been with her since lvl 24.

And really, if they only added 2 of the 5 colors as random mobs, that's still not bad at all.

Actually, they are color changers. Just verified. Blue to Brown. So yeah, I'll be sticking with my Red as well.
Hrrumph.
