Oh wow... I have to step in and say that you have some terrible luck. >.< It seems like I see Arc and Gon up every time I'm in the area.
Still, that's some crazy dedication! I'm glad you snagged them eventually. O.O

Thanks Ellaran!

Also if you spend over 5 hours looking for TLPD in Storm Peaks, you'll get a In-Game Mail from a GM with a Time-Lost Proto Drake free!

TLPD has NOT had his timer reduced and he STILL shares a Spawn with Vyragosa. This is a complete lie. You might want to stop believing random sources on forums.
~from someone who killed Vyragosa 11 times and TLPD once ... AFTER CATA!
Other rares do not share spawns so it could be possible that Loque and KK would be up at the same time (unlikely but indeed possible)
But Denomium please stop trolling for responses by posting your own "false info"

he can be hard to tame with out help, but mostly it's the yahoos who kill him right away. or as you tame. he is just so big.
how do you know how many people have him on a server?

There isnt really a way to tell how many "Krush's" for instance are on a server, the OP was probably just meaning that they haven't seen many on the server, or else maybe they just listen to bad information. Its impossible to pole all the hunters to see who or who doesnt have him. Back when CATA came out and you tamed Terrorpene 14 hours after release, you could probably say "server first or second", but since WOTLK came out a couple years ago there's likely hundreds of King Krush pets out there, just some people rarely take them out of their stables with all the new shineys that are around (like me for instance).
But yeah, I recommend sticking to that (3 rares up at a time) theory, if you kill a rare another will spawn somewhere on the continent ~15 or so minutes later. I once "put to sleep" Skoll while I was camping for TLPD (no one else wanted him, Frozen Lake spawn point) and that actually caused TLPD to spawn 10-20 minutes later to my enjoyment

I think that number of rares up at a time theory was debunked at one point, but it's still a good luck superstition for some of us.

again, i say to the people who don't believe it, i have literally done nothing else but hunt for rares since my hunter hit 85. no more than 3!

I think it's sort of both theories and that a finite number of rares can be up. Either way, it's stress relieving to squish a treasure dropping mob guilt free. >>

Funny side story, a guild buddy (Infiltration) asked me for help in the area killing a boss, but I guess I got there too late. Shortly after I arrived, Krush spawned right in front of us - but we did not know who or what he was, so we killed him, lol.
After some research, I felt horrible as you can imagine. I then became obsessed with catching him again.
I tamed him solo a couple days ago during my 3rd day of random extended hour camping, without any help from mods, friends, potions, or macros (maybe being level 85 with pvp gear helps, lol).
Anyway, I entered a battleground and when I returned to do a round I found him by Glimmer 4:41 realm time.
My pet was dismissed, but when I hit the tame button, I got an error that I had an active summon already. Krush started to attack me. I summoned my pet and then dismissed it. The first 2 tames I got feared away, but the 3rd was a charm, luckily because I almost killed him and it was a drawn out battle and anyone could have come over for "help" if you know what I mean.
So now I have him and I am very excited. I ran around the house jumping up and down and my heart was racing, lol.

She just was hidin! Taluwen got her randomly cause she was there. Lisaara didnt have the same luck, I'm afraid. She's the one that got the record-holding 4 - 5 day camp. I saw her once but a tauren hunters had JUST tamed her on the 3 1/2 day mark. I cried. I found her a day after that.

I hear what you're saying about how many Krush's are about on a server, but on my server me and this other Krush owner can sit in that little space next to the AH in Orgrimmar and get more /w's and comments on our KK's than my mate with his Karoma/Sambas

Maybe its just Kul Tiras (I spent the whole of tbc arguing with groups whether my purple pridewatcher Sima was a rare from Outland

)
Still no Mr Greenbutt xD Strange thing is he was killed at 15-00, 24 hours later to the dot Loque spawns where he died O.o Connected or just very very weird?
EDIT: Ok there must be a pattern here guys.
1st day - Krush dead at 3
2nd day - Loque spawns at 3 - tamed at 3.15
3rd day - aotona spawns at 3 - tamed at 3.10
Anyone know if realms are definately going down for maintenace/resets tonight?

While on as my Mage alt, was helping my guildie/sister-in-law hunt for Loque when we found King Krush. I actually had to convince her he was worth taming! (she has no idea about different pets -- it's all we can do to get her to use something besides her starting Lynx). Still, it made me feel good to help another hunter get him.
Next time I see him, I'm logging on as Cerah and taming him myself!

At least on my server, this is THE very best way to get a rare on Northrend:
Download the addon that places on your map where all the Northrend rares spawn and path.
Look for your rare from five minutes to the hour until five minutes after the hour.
All other times, search every other rare and kill it, returning to the one you want minutes before the hour.
Rinse and repeat.

Sorry to hear about that tale, happy it worked out for you
~Kylok, NPCSCAN and NPCSCAN Overlay are 2 necessities these days for any rare-hunter. Also Silverdragon isnt bad to have as a backup, but it usually ends up just giving me a large box of error message that makes taming the rare much harder
Top of the hour/ bottom of the hour have nothing to do with spawn times, they could however be the lucky times for you to look

, BUT if your mob isnt there, you may be able to "force" it to spawn (as long as its been 6 hours ish at least) by doing other laps to look for a different rare to kill.

I have to disagree with you about NPCScan being a necessity. I'm rather proud of the fact that I've found all my rare pets with nothing more than Track Beasts

The only addon I use is GupPet for my mini pets and mounts.

Agreeing with Cerah here, I've only used Silverdragon, and I got rid of that long ago.
Now I just find my rares with Track Beasts and a /target (rare name here) macro to spam.

Ahh its soo exciting to hear those drums and screen flash though! Even when flying over spawn points for rares I already have it still can make my heart skip a beat when it goes off.
I think it just comes back to my long camp for TLPD and how nervously excited I was when I got him

Hi Guys!
Well I've changed the title because this did have a very happy ending earlier today.
Yesterday me and my sister gave up on finding her Krush. The reports of deaths by alliance etc was getting very silly in numbers, so my sis suggested levelling some more and coming back later. Disheartened, she logged off for a couple of days break from that dreaded Basin.
Today, I log on, and sigh realising I had left Zhuge in the Basin. I have a chat with guildies, and decide to check if Loque is up for a friend. Starting at Sky Reach where I log out, I cross over to Nesingway to see a lvl 76 human hunter crossing back and forth to the spawns there with a disposable pet. I wish him /goodluck and pat up to the waterfall. Nothing. I fly across the to the base of Glimmering Pillar, and low and behold there he is - Mr Greenbutt!
I put away my polearm and ram into him hitting him with my hands to tag him - yelling at my sis to get online. She logs, thankfully at Nesingway and flys to me. When she gets to me, Krush and myself are both on half hp xD Using me as a Krush chew toy to take the fear (ty to who suggested this!) she tamed him no issue. She tried the BW idea with a trash pet but he feared me into the lil lake and went out of range lol. Even without it she only has 14k hp and survived with 25% hp. In the end - two very happy hunters
Here's a screeny of the moment Grump (my Krush) met his lil brother
Sadly Faruun the rhino got in the way during tame and I had to take him down
Thank you to everyone who helped out

very very happy and thankful to leave that dreaded Basin

for all!

Congratulations to your sister, she must have been so, so happy! I laughed hard at that screenie. The rhino looks so annoyed.

He does lol! He was a meanie and charged at my sister as she was taming but I shot him down. Maybe him and Krush were friends?

Krush has a wonderful home - my sister rolled hunter for Krush and she adores him
