Hey, I'm on WrA. My main over there is Kalhoun, my human hunter, and he's who I'm usually on. I also have a belf hunter named Kaeshen that I poke around on now and then. Feel free to say hi if you see me on... I'm horribly shy though.
BTW, everyone should /join Petopians. I'm usually all alone in there.

Okay, hopefully I don't derail or anything to take away from the OP, but I figured this was an okay place.
I've been thinking about making a character on WrA.
The downside is I'm... not really scared but hesitant. RP intrigues me. It also somewhat worries me. 10 years ago or so I did a fair number of forum-based anime themed RP, but that was a long time ago. I have a character I leveled up on Scarlet Crusade but a) that was just while chatting with a friend and b) there's really no RP on SC, or at least nothing I seemed to be able to find casually. I can people watch occasionally but even Goldshire is fairly empty.
Is WrA decent? Is it friendly to WoWRP newbs like me? Or is it um... overwhelming, for lack of a better word? I'm generally kinda shy until I get more into a community. There will probably be mistakes made.
For what it's worth, my initial thought for a character was a Night Elf Priestess or a Human Rogue. I haven't fleshed out a lot of backstory beyond that, and they might not have much (more of evolving characters really). I'm a horde girl at heart but I just don't think I could RP it in the current Horde political environment (aka, I hate Garrosh) without being incredibly over the top. Plus I've always had a special lorenerd spot for Elune and her priestesses.

I'm new to WoWRP and I've found WRA to be quite nice. I've found both random RP as well as planned little RP event type stuff with Lupis. I haven't found RP to be at all overwhelming yet other than making sure I stick to the character I'm RPing's personality.
My main characters on WRA that I've been playing recently are Valnara, my purple obsessed warlock, and RoxĂe, my personal pet challenge hunter. I have a couple of other toons over there, but those are the ones I use most so far.

Necropost of the Dead! D:
So yeah, I've been toying with the idea of rolling up an alliance toon over on Wyrmrest Accord (US). Mostly as my former alliance guild is... dead. And it's no fun playing by yourself. That and I've always wanted to try WoW RP out, but have always been too shy. Hopefully a few Petopian friends can change that.
Any noob pointers, or should I just dive in head first? I do have couple of ideas for a character, although the one I am thinking of could potentually suffer from "special little snowflake syndrome".

Personally, I dived in head first, although the newer characters I've been coming up with aren't nearly as complicated or as controversial as my death knight (who, ironically, isn't even on a PvP server). Lupis and I also will sometimes set up RP sessions through RealID and meet up on two of the characters we've got RPing together.
And so long as your character isn't directly related to any major lore characters, has flaws and quirks (my warlock is obsessed with the color purple, for example), you're pretty much golden. Dragon characters are typically frowned upon too as I guess too many people screw up the way they work in WoW or something like that (and is probably a big reason I'll never bring Indi to an RP realm).
Almost all of my RP characters are Alliance on WRA. I have no issues going out to somewhere remote to help someone get comfortable with RPing (No where higher than a 59 could get though please).

I did that with Lupis as I was a little shy about how in game RP worked and now I'm hooked. XD

Hehe, sounds pretty reasonable. Basically, my "main" idea is a sort-of reverse Worgen. Back when Arugal was experimenting over in Pyrewood still, he wondered if he could create Worgen using wolves instead of humans. Through trial and error, he created a handfull of these Wolf-Worgen, however he abandoned the idea soon after. But yeah, the more I think about it, the more I think I'll just twist it to a early infected Gilnean who, although cured, never quite got all the wolf out of his system.
... I mostly just want an excuse to play a "wild" worgen. XD
Another idea was that of an elderly Draenei Paladin, one who was a young girl when Argus was lost. Very doting and kind, although stubborn as a mule.
And thansk for the offer to help. It's appreciated, if I get over my logging in nerves. XD

From my understanding, I think all playable Draenei are supposed to have seen the downfall of Argus or something like that. I could be wrong, but I was just recently researching them and I think that's the gist of what I got.
I think a wild worgen would be semi-easy to pull off, the hardest part is how they become sentient. My druid in the TotH thread is a "wild" worgen savagekin.

Everytime i listen to Monster by Skillet, i imagine a dude fighting off the worgen instinct within him as if they were two sentient beings inside one XD It totally works.

You should DL the add on MRP (My Role Play) off of curse.com. It lets you set little details, a description and whether you're IC or OOC. It helps other RPers know you're one of them, and if you're looking for interaction.
Also, don't forget to /join Petopians!

Eh, early draenei lore confuses me. Especiallly as there's very little information about it. Rise of the Horde is probably the best resource we have. I always got the impression that most of the playable Draenei were from Draenor, with only a few elders from Argus. But I admit, I'm probably wrong. XD
And anyway, I think I'll be picking playign my worgen concept first.

Downloaded and installed. Thank you for the tip

And I won't.

Good to see the Petopian Channel so widespread, or at least over more than one server!
Dyrant the Worgen is created, although not logged in. Currently he's a warrior, I think a dual-specced Fury/Prot warrior suit this Chraracter well... and Worgen males look badass in plate. >.> Hopefully he can help Tank for anyone here once he gets leveled too. I'm still pondering parts of his backstory and his overall personality.

Playable draenei are from both Argus, Draenor, and any other worlds they stopped by on the way. It's up to the player, but Argus draenei shoould be RPed as very old.

Uhm. Throwing in tips...
I've found my most successful characters (Azu, Kozri, Sol, Ivy, Speck) all started with...one, two traits, no background, and I just made everything up as I went along.
Hell, Kozri, a fairly known character among TotHers, only ever had a name. His entire personality and history and all of that started when I just jumped in with him. He wasn't supposed to even be so important, but he just kind of made his place.
That said, yeah. A good rule of thumb is playing a dragon, demon, what have you -usually- ends badly. I say usually because I have seen well played dragons (*Indi, cough.*) and demons (An old RPer I knew and an IRL friend of my mom's.) The secret? No one knew they were special. A dragon wouldn't run around Stormwind, he'd get shot. A demon with horns and wings? Stockades, an exorcism, or a nice hanging will end that nicely. Heck, warlock demons are barely tolerated!
In essence, start simple, let your char grow on its own.

Aye, that's a fair point Azu. And quite true too, a number of my own characters are the same way. But at the same time, I do quite like having some sort of backstory, even if it is rather simplistic, just to serve as a springboard of sorts. Dyrant will, ultimately, be a pretty simple character. Very lupine in mannerisms and his memories before being infected are rather hazy.
And with that said, Dyrant is alive! Want to level him though the Gilneas scene before really doing anything with him though.
Side note: MRP is fun. XD
