Is there really a quest to kill him? D:

Not him, but scorpions in the area. Unfortunately he tends to fall victim to that a lot.

Not sure if this counts but I found a female gobby trying to tame him (he reset on her a couple times) till I gestured at her with my draenei that I would help out. She finally got him with some assistance!

How do you gesture this? If I do /go at the other faction, I think they sometimes pick it up as "go away". But I think there's a "was happy to help" emote.

I usually use /beckon to get the other faction to come to me, or show I want to help. Usually if I'm being rude, I usually /rude or /shoo them.
Anyone, rehomed a sad black Madexx. Finally someone tamed him after asking in general for awhile.

It was a very late night/early morning, but I helped my friend tame Ban'thalos and Skarr finally (she's wanted both for ages), as well as a surprise Skitter! I was so glad it was love at first sight for her; I have a fondness for the little guy.
I myself am temporarily sheltering Magria, who led us to Skarr and Skitter in the first place, as well as Solix for Rox.

Had I not given in to Magria's demands, we might not have started chatting then....

Rehomed Skarr. Just said "he's up" in Rarecampers, told the hunter to use silence shot since she was heavy into the MM tree and that makes taming him easy, and she got him without losing any health hardly. She took one Fieroclast, but Skarr apparently bugged when she did her next tame and immediately came to her as soon as she started taming the second time. Skarr is posing nicely for the camera, but Phai is a little shy, it seems.

When you use a custom emote it actually comes out as "_____ makes some strange gestures" to the opposite faction.

Was finishing up some druid of the talon quests and Kirix was up. I saw a horde hunter was trying to tame and kept failing. I was hesitant to switch toons to tell him my method cause I was sorta tired and stuff. But then Skarr spawned too and I did my little "/point" to show him Skarr was up, and the hunter rushed over there to tame a new kitty. He was successful and super happy (He had already died like 4-5 times to Kirix, so this was a nice win) I thought, heck let me just go and tell him... so I hop on over to Sael and whisper him my secret to the Kirix tame, and he thanked me for that and for Skarr. I logged back on Neyaari and hoped he would get it, but still had to finish one more daily. So I hopped down to kill some charhounds and a few moments later he jumped down to show me his new spider. It was his lucky day (or hour) since no other hunter was around (besides myself) to snatch them from him. And that green spider sure looks nice with a goblin!

But if it helps, non-custom emotes work normally cross faction. So just being simple can sometimes help. I often use /point and /follow to get a horde player to follow me or see what I am seeing. And /smile and /cheer or whatnot shows them I am happy for them. Thats the best I can do until I log on a horde character.
I think if the custom made emotes worked cross faction they would be abused somehow, which is why it shows up as "strange gestures".

Just rehomed icehorn to an extremely grateful dwarf who still doesn't get why I did it especially since I don't have icehorn myself.

I will often /point at the mob, then /point at the player and /nod at the player.

Helped a former guildie from my Wrath Core group get Deth'tilac. He reset and we had to start over, but in the end we got him.

I rehomed Terrorpene on the pvp server, had to relog to my alliance whisperer and finally found someone interested. Then, found Sambas, Deth'tilac, Karkin and Anthriss. Eventually found a hordie who wanted Karkin and got him without problems. Then I mentionned Deth and after three tries (two resets and one successful but adrenaline-filled tame), he got her. Anthriss was killed/tamed in the meantime, and we ended the night with him grabbing Sambas too!
/falls into bed.
There is nice people on Frostwhisper EU *cheers*

Recent rehomes/help.
I logged in to Karkin being up again today, and saw a pile of bones all over the rocks by him.
A dwarf hunter showed up. He jumps across the rocks and stands next to Karkin and tries to toss a trap at him and then hits tame...
He dies and I am thinking okie dokie he's obviously trying to tame.. but.. that ain't gonna work.
Luckily, I own a laptop and another WoW account with an alliance toon on it, so i log-in on my laptop and ask the hunter if he would like some help.
He asks me for advice on taming, and I said "are you MM?" to which he replied "no sorry, I'd have to go and respec at the hunter trainer". I didn't really feel like going into the whole duel spec schpiel, so I told him "np, np, I'm on MM, I'll silence him for you.. just come stand by me, and start taming, I'll take care of the rest." He died the first time due to bad timing on my part, was watching laptop screen and not main screen ..lol.. but second try went off without a hitch and he has a shiny crab

I always enjoy helping the other side

he was really grateful and added me to friends
Then later tonight after a few hours I found Kirix a home.
Funny thing about that tame.. the hunter who is a friend of mine, wanted to try and tame him while naked.. (yeah don't ask) with the help of my trusty core hound + a speed potion, he actually pulled it off on the second attempt and now has a firey new green spider. It was hilarious seeing someone tame Kirix with no armor on XD I really thought he was insane to try it, but at the same time it was amusing.

Hee, that is fun! I saw someone tame Kirix with res sickness once - that was pretty amazing too.

I tried to rehome Skarr yesterday. The hunter had problems coming through the fire, while waiting for her, Skarr gets killed by 2 warriors of Alliance and a mage of my very own faction. After my question "why?" at the mage I got no answer and the other hunter was left mourning Skarr's dead body

Rehomed Magria. Found her on my hunter, found a taker in my channel immediately. She comes out, in nothing but her skivvies, and starts what looks like a successful tame in the making. As soon as she's almost done, an alliance dickhead interrupts the tame, dies (idiot), and she tries to resume her tame, only to realize she doesnt have enough health to survive and FDs. So she heals up, tries the tame again, the same alliance waits until she's low on health, interrupts the tame, dies again (seriously, wtf?), and she AGAIN has to wait because of her health. This happens at least 4 more times. I log on my ally and ask wtf they're doing besides racking up huge repair bills. They claim they are saving it for their friend. I just lol at them and relog back to horde and give my friend a haste pot. Before the alliance can do it again, her tame is finished and they're sitting there spamming /spit and /rude at us. I think the rude/dumb ones were the ones interrupting her tame constantly. Luckily, she got her pretty blue kitty finally.
