Got my math homework done. Now to study, study, study, and study some more.

I've just determined that BOTH my parents must be heterozygous for which thumb goes on top when your fold your hands (yes, it's genetically determined, heh).

Left thumb on top is recessive, but right thumb on top is dominant. When I fold my hands, my left thumb is on top, but when my little sister folds hers, her right thumb is on top (just asked my other sister too, and her right thumb is on top too). Which means I got both recessive genes. On the other hand, my sisters both have light eyes, while I have dark eyes (parents have dark eyes). But as far as hair goes.. I have no idea. All 3 of us have hair lighter than BOTH my parents (though mines the darkest.. but.. it was more reddish when I was little).

I honestly don't understand how social things work. Apparently I'm pretty good at them, but as soon as a hot guy is involved I get confused and unhappy and ugh. I mean, at least this time when I saw him I was wearing something cute, instead of like last time when I just kind of looked ugh. I'm not a very good judge of how I look, though.

Him waving first is a good sign, right? Even though he bailed last night. But what if he really hadn't finished his homework? I mean, we are in college. I don't want to just assume he's lying and wasn't interested, but what he was lying? Having text conversations makes all of this so much harder, there's no body language or intonation to go off of.

I suppose I'll just see if he texts me. I know I look really, really good today... but I also look... churchy. Cardigans aren't the best of ideas if you don't want to look churchy. I don't even go to church!

Ugh, this is entirely too complicated for me. Actually, that's not true. It's too simple for me.

I guess I'll just wait to see if he's even interested. Him texting me first would be nice. That would be a good sign.

I want to sleep. I'll settle for tumblr.

So, my initial hypothesis was infact wrong. After thinking on it, I realized that one of my parents could actually be homozygous recessive as well.. As you'd only need ONE dominant allele for my sister's to put their right thumb on top. So I asked my mom how she folds her hands, and turns out she's homozygous recessive too, and foles with her left thumb on top like me. Which means if F is the dominant allele, and f the recessive, my family genotype for hand folding is:

Mom: ff
dad:Ff
me: ff
sister 1: Ff
Sister 2: Ff

Finished my genetics notes Means I won't have to study much more this weekend, maybe some cleaning. But don't need to make more study notes.

THe band Days Difference is apparently staying at my sister's tonight. I'm gonna see if we can set up a vid chat and/or mariokart gaming session. I should check some of their music (sister has decent taste)

Hahaha, my developmental prof just used Sauron making cyclopic trolls/orc to invade middle earth as an example for the sonichedgehog gene, because improper expression can lead to cyclopic mutants.

^very^ I want one for my other shoulder and I havent been able to get it, its driving me nuts.

just had a midterm. It felt a LOT easier than I was expecting. Like.. I finished in 15 minutes. I finished so fast, I just sat there until other people started getting up, cause I felt like it was TOO fast

Hopefully I do allright though!
