I think that this is by far one of the most creative and exciting ideas for taming a rare beast.

We are basically getting our own unique class quest, something which Blizzard stated they weren't going to do any more.

I love the idea that we have to hunt these pets, tracking them the way a real hunter should. NPCscan isn't going to help us in this. Yes it will be more difficult, but I'm thrilled that we have to work for these in a way that is perfectly suited to our class.

This also alleviates some of the dilemma of others classes interfering or attempting to grief tames. Other players have the achievement with the humanoid rares to find and kill for loot, experience, and bragging rights. This is like our own personal little game of hide and seek. I love it.

I am interested to see how hunter etiquette plays out. I think eventually start points will be figured out (I believe the start point for Savage may already be) and then you might have a bunch of people on one point. With such a quick timer (beta timer), it may not be a big deal. Just curious though

I'm very pleased, as hunter etiquette is excellent (for the most part) when it comes to rare-hunting on Suramar. It's the other classes I don't trust! And...admittedly other hunters that start acting funny--stacking on me, following me around, etc. Also, amethyst adorned = yay! Now I really have a dilemma, as I like most of the adorned quilen (quilin? Blizzard please make up your mind so I can stop being confused here!) skins and a couple of the unadorned!

Aww, I'm actually hoping for the unadorned cobalt to show up. I'm not a big fan of the adorned stone ones myself. If cobalt doesn't show up I might go for the plain purple though, I do like that one.

As a warning, it seems that other classes CAN see the beasts once they've been flared.

I still want the adorned cobalt..

Though... what would I do on live if the one I want doesn't spawn? Somehow kill the incorrect one, or just tame and release? (Assuming no one else is around, anyway.)

Just confirmed it for myself.
I followed tracks, found the beast tamed by a horde hunter that camped.

Waited 30min without flaring... just flared and Savage was here.
Tamed him easily.

*nod* I saw a shaman target Portent once I had flared and trapped him.

Has one been killed yet? I am curious about their loot table, if any.

The only one Ive seen was tagged before I even started taming. I'm hoping this is to discourage harassers who want loot from them.
