What's the hard part the posture or the critter? He has a Loque who likes tummy rubs too, can switch to that so that its not too similar to Rhy's. Or just use creative license and do your own thing when the time comes?
I took 4 years of art in high school and 1 year on college, and I still can't draw with a spit lol.

normally the animal itself i can get the pose right but then it comes down to drawing it and my mind goes blank 
normally ill try and if i cant do it after 1000 times ill just change it to something else and try again :B until its like a day before i have to have it done then ill go for the easy way xD
most of the times i do just draw what i want and say i was ment to draw someones hunter or somthing and i had drawn a random girl ... i would just be lazy and use my own pose from before and just make it look like a hunter xD
did it in college once for my gae character design xD
