What about a gazelle with a giraffe skin? Like a giraffe that's pulled its neck in :)

Yeah, I think I was just too exited to even think of anything else than 'OMG TAME TAME TAME!' :P

That depends what you mean by "deer". Do you just mean does? The stags are definitely tameable. See this list for what has and hasn't been checked / confirmed:

I beast lored one the other day, and it had a diet but wasn't tameable. So I guess that means that there is hope? :)

Yeah I mean the Doe/s. Hopefully they'll be included as well.

A lot of creatures that will never be tameable, or are not tameable, have diets as well. It means they have been tagged as part of the family. Not that they will necessarily become tameable. So try not to get up *too* much hope yet. :) Keep hopeful. Not expectant!

Yeah, but since some of the ones that used to be critters has turned into beasts, and have diets, there might be a chance they get tameable. But we will see what happens. :)

I think it's more "Why make males of a family tameable but not females?"

As said, does are female deers, stags are male deers. Making one tameable but not the other is silly.

And the frailty thing doesn't work when we have things like Caterpillars, sporebats, the basic water strider, the tiny porcupines, etc.

There's also the thing that they don't have any antlers, though. It's not just that they're frail-looking but they also don't have any major source of attack.

I suspect it has nothing to do with 'frailty', and everything to do with 'poly count':

Also, deer are *already* beasts on live.

My bad. I must have missed that.
They don't have diets on live though.
And yes, there are other beasts with diets that are not tameable. We'll just have to see what happens with these.

*Nods* I think a major reason behind the does not being tamable is that they're critter models- FAR more pointedly than, say, Gazelle. They have paper thin ears, only a handful of polygons, and hideously low-rez skins- I think Blizzard doesn't think them quite worthy of being blown up to pet size!

I still really hope that these will be implemented at some point (I know more oriental then savage outlands...) even just as rare mobs...and Stags. tamable stags....come on, they are soooooooo pretty and wonderful and look at that detail!!! Without tack, these things are so beautiful!!!

Because they don't have a family on live. :D Just because they're marked as 'stags' doesn't mean they will be tameable.

I don't expect these to become tameable, due to the aforementioned 'low poly count'. Maybe one day they can add updated does, but these are not made to be sized up. Just like the baby bears (who also have a diet, but won't be tameable).

Um. Well. Lack of antlers doesn't mean a deer isn't going to be a formidable foe. I've personally witnessed does attacking something, hoofs flying. They will stand their rear legs and kick to maim with the front. Which are sharp. They also bite. A doe can be just as vicious as a buck. Some wolves have learned this the hard way.

Personally. I don't want the deer does to be tamable simply because their model is so poor. Which I agree with the other is why Blizzard probably doesn't have them included in the tamable stags. Their model is worse than the old world cat models.

Edit: Because I seemingly cannot spell or use proper grammar today.

Caterpillars have a low poly count.

Yes, they were a bug we got to keep, but the point still remains. :p

I mean, to be fair, it's different to have a cornered doe kick a lunging wolf in self-defense, vs. being the constant battle companion of a hunter.

The only other real family I can see people being confused about is Moths, and this is sort of justified by their "blinding/pacifying" dust abilities and sharp horns.
Yes, they are frail, but what good is that if they can't hit them? Does don't really have anything going for them besides those hooves.

That's my own justification for why we can tame Moths and not does/cows/"less formidable" critters.
