Hehe. I liked her, too.

And the funny thing is, the blasted beasts were ALL OVER THE PLACE in Beta. I remember, because I picked one up then. >:(

Ah, Beta. *fond.* I had Synge my brown devilsaur and Nether my colorchanging warp stalker. They were my favorites. x3

Yeah, those red snakes were all over in beta, and now they're nearly non-existant. Try hunting for Slaverjaw sometime, or Emberwing, they both took me a day or two to find.

Anyway, good read. Poor Tira. :( That was awful brave of her to go charging at Deathwing.

((Dear Light, Dagger is shiny.

Also, man...I really do feel nostalgic every time I visit the stable master. I remember what happened to every pet, the zone...it really does make everything more real. I should do this again for Kalimdor.))

Dear Journal,

Despite missing Tira, Dagger has been great comfort. He's lazy as fel, but that's okay, I guess. Buzzard misses Tira as well, and he tends to sit on my shoulders, sort of droopy. Charistrasz prefers to stay in my bag, sleeping. When he does come out, he's great company.

Of course, we couldn't stay in Badlands for long. The black Dragonflight still isn't too happy for what we've done, and they get closer to us every day. The folks at Dragon's Mouth promised they could handle them, but they were blocking the path to Searing Gorge, so we had to leave fast.

Once through the pass, we were asked by a few dwarves (with sooty looking skin like the ground) to take care of some dwarves, and an ogre named Lunk who didn't like fighting wanted me to ask the machines "nicely" for their gears.

Hm. I don't think I asked "nicely" enough. Lunk thought the same thing, as he ran off, screaming about real adventures. In the mean time, I had to collect spider sacs for their venom, save some bush chickens, kill this creature called Margol for its horn, and kill a dwarf named Dig-Boss Dinwhisker.

Well, who should show up but Lunk. He wanted me to weaken the spiders, so he could jump onto their backs and ride them. Well, he was going to collect the venom for me instead, so I decided not to tell him that would probably kill them.

Well, the spider went squish, which caused venom to splatter all over his belly. So I had to collect it. Dagger took one look at Lunk, then at me, pleadingly. I could tell he wanted to get rid of our Lunk problems. Nonetheless, like a good hero, I dutifully, carefully scraped off the venom.

I hate ogres. Further, we had to collect ash chickens.

An inferno elemental was attracted by Dagger's shininess and it tried to kill him, but we took him out first. Lunk threw a fit, going on about Mr. Burny the elemental who had a family and we just killed him and now his family would die and how I should stop killing things. I told him he was squishing the spiders. He refused to believe me.

Finally, Lunk left Dagger and I alone, so we could finish collecting our chickens. I also failed to tell him he stepped on one. I'll let him figure it out later. We were exploring and found a bunch of baby spiders, which I promptly stomped all of them, and what is either someone trapped or -ew- an egg sac.

The webbing was too thick for us to find out one way or another, so we continued our way. Margol was dealt with, and we went to deal with the Dig-Boss. He turned out to be a coward and didn't show up, so we decided our best course of action was to kill his people until he finally came out. I sort of wish there was a better way, but oh well.

Finally though, he was chased out on his ram and we took care of him and took some jewel he had on him. It looked suspicious enough, so we took it back to Dig-Boss Dinwhisker. He threw the ember to the fire, but it blazed up, showing an image of this not-a-nage-sort-of-naga thing. It screamed about finding ascendance with Ragnaros and how its siblings wanted to be free and how they were supposed to dig. Jack told me to go to Thorium Point, so we went there.

We arrived, and we were ordered to find this elemental named Rasha'krak and kill it, as well as a bunch of spiders, war golems, and elementals in order to steal their flames. Lastly, we had to find this man's smithing tuyere and lookout spyglass. Dagger had other ideas though, and took residence in a tent and refused to come out. Looks like we're stopping for the night, journal.

Dear Journal,

Do you know how long it took to get that lazy snake up and helping again? He just wouldn't move. I finally concince him though, and we were off. Spiders were first on our agenda, and we killed nine of those. Dagger didn't like them much, too chitinous for him. They reminded me of Arachne, so I wasn't a fan of them either.

Holy fel, what a spider...

Afterwards, we had to collect hear from elementals. It was a struggle, they're rather hot. As well, we had to kill golems and dwarves. After taking the smithing tuyere, I heard stomping. I whirled to see Lunk, shouting about dwarves and how I killed them. I listened to him talk about how he would sit on them to make them sleep and agreed, wincing. IT'd get me what I needed, so...

Dagger, sensibly, was disgusted. Finally finished with Lunk, we killed more golems.

Rasha'krak was our last victim, and he was quick to die. We took his bindings and were off. Not surprisingly, Dagger doesn't want to keep moving, so we're resting for now, journal.

((What time is it? Yes! It's time for another installment in the adventures of Sol and Dagger in the lovely place called Searing Gorge. Something like that.))

Dear Journal,

This is the laziest, Light-forgotten snake in the world. It took hours to find him, hiding in some crates, then another few hours to drag him out, spitting and hissing and threatening the poor dwarves. Then I had to calm him down enough so that he would stop glowering at me and trying to gnaw my hand. Finally, we were off to our next goal: Killing a bunch of Twilight Cultists.

The orders were as followed: Kill Ministers Finister, Kiyuubi and Letherio, then steal their rocks and mash them together. We also had to pry collars off of the Cultists. We also found a ghost in a cage who had been with the Cult. He received a vision from Elune and realized that he served the Old Gods and needed to fix that. He ended up trapped in a cage and killed, and his spirit sticks the world. Poor guy, he reminds me of those spirits in the Western Plaguelands, or about the rumors of the ghost cat traveling with a group of adventurers. The spirits everywhere are pretty restless.

Nonetheless, I found the needed prayer and read it. There was a warm glow coming from it, and it faded away. I think the night elf, Zamael is free now. There was still work to do, so we finished what we had to do with the Cultists.

Finished, Dagger and I hurried back to the Point. We were told to head to the Iron Summit across the Gorge, so off we went. The Flightmaster told me she had a gryphon she needed to send them back to them, because an adventurer had borrow one of theirs, so she offered me a free ride down. Who am I to argue? It was a short trip, and we went to speak with Mountain-Lord Rendan.

((Guess who picked up the Iron Summit FP? Me! XD))

Our target was the Dark Iron Marksman. We were to light their towers ablaze, kill them, and take their ammo. We also were asked to take care of a few Incendosaurs, whatever those are, and take their fire-gizzards. But first things first.

The bullets pinged off of Dagger's tough scaly hide, so I collected those off the ground, as well as the crates and ammo pouches. The towers burned nicely as well, and we found several incendosaurs.

Finished, Rendan told us that he lied, there was no way he'd help us. Frustrated, Dagger and I came down, only to be stopped by, yes, Lunk. He toold us Rendan likes to dance and that I should get a bunch of guards to dance with Lunk and I. I set about doing that, Dagger laughing at me the entire way. Stupid snake. He was embarassed, but even he swayed a bit.

Sucker agreed in a heartbeat. Who knew dancing would win a battle for me, huh? I was all set to head out, but Dagger was curled around an iron post, looking like he would die from embarassment. His huntress had shamed him! Looks like it will take hours to get him loose. We're not going anywhere today, journal.

Blasted snake.

What male dwarf would say no to a dancing sexy female? :P Well, a few I suppose if there's no booze involved. *shrug*
I really like Dagger too, darned lazy snake. Maybe I've been watching too many wildlife documentaries, but Dagger really seems to act like a real-life snake: always hiding, lounging around in warms spots and lashing out when provoked. Now if only real-life snakes came in the 12-foot long ruby-scaled variety. Actually, maybe not. I'd be afraid to leave the house then.

Hehehe. Yeah, though Sol was more worried about the fact Lunk was there. He wasn't that great smelling.

And yeah, I like Dagger a lot too. I figured he'd be a real lazy sort, since it took forever to find him, and he just seems like a real snake, the kind to sit there and go, "Meh. Bother me tomorrow."

And yeah, if that was the case, I'd be a bit scared too. XD

((Yay, more of these. I really want to be over with Searing Gorge. Burning Steppes has an awesome bit I just can't wait for. It'll be great. :3))

Dear Journal,

Fiona wrote, telling me Gidwin and Tarenar were venturing up to Mount Hyjal like any respectable hero. She'll stay in Light's Hope for now, and Lillith misses me, but she's doing well. The Light energy is doing its job, and she earns her keep as a guard dog. I haven't heard anything from Darkrai or Ghost in a long while. I can understand Darkrai, but I think Ghost is finally through with me. It kind of hurts, really. She was my first friend. Scylla and Shadwyn are both doing great in their respective places, which was cheering enough. The guards are Westfall are even beating back the Defias.

After finally prying Dagger from the bars (Lunk helped, only useful thing he's ever really done for me.), we made the trip back to Thoriuum Point. From there, I was given a flying machine and was told to "secure entrance into the Slag Pit." Oh boy.
WoWScrnShot_070711_130440.jpg

Okay, this thing -was- pretty cool, I'll admit. Not surprisingly, Dagger was clinging to the skids and hissing furiously all the while. We finally landed and Dagger carefully disentangled himself, shooting me an angry glare. He was placated by a hog haunch, so we're friends now.

Anyways, our next mission was to free slave workers, kill ten taskmasters or slavers, and find and kill an elementalist and a golem. Dagger decided he hated this place more than he disliked me at the moment, so he quite willing to help me finish the tasks. A few slaves had lost their minds and freaked out when I told them I was here to save them. Dagger quickly took care of them, and, uh, changed their mind. And that was that for them. Some slaves were, in fact, gnolls!

As much as I didn't want too, I freed them as well, though I have to question that judgement. Gnolls. Useless, rotten gnolls. What good will they ever do for us?
WoWScrnShot_070711_131339.jpg
WoWScrnShot_070711_131339.jpg (118.58 KiB) Viewed 3311 times
One slave was extra tricky. He had been ordered by the slavers to kill me if they found me, as it turns out the Dark Iron know of me well enough. He pretended to be saved, and when my back was turned, lunged for me. Dagger however was there first, hissing frenziedly and chomped down on the gnoll and shaking the body, giving another scathing hiss. He looked me at carefully, then turned back to the Altar of Suntara.

((I freed a slave and it looked as if it was running off, when Dagger dashed over and killed it.))

Well. We talked to Evonice Sootsmoker and reported our results. She congratulated us, then told us we would have to steal 16 pillows, in order to give the dwarves sleep deprivation. Now, I'm not one to question orders, but really? Steal their pillows? Kind of underhanded, and a bit odd. Pillows? Why can't we steal something...I dunno, more worth it.

...Pillows.
WoWScrnShot_070711_132215.jpg

And of course, sleepy workers ambushed us, screaming about their pillows. Dagger looked at me, and released a barrage of acid that would make any spitting green dragon proud. Smug, he returned to my side, the workers most satisfactorily dead. Remind me never to tick off Dagger again. Ever.

Finished, we worked with Hansel Heavyhands to deal with a Twilight Lord and an Overseer. Hansel flung the Twilight Lord off, and Dagger and I quickly took out the Overseer. We were told to find Overseer Oilfist, so off we were.

We found him, and he orders us to destroy Minions of Calcinder, and kill Archduke Calcinder. Not surprisingly, we heard cries of fury. Turns out our pillow thieving had more an impact than I could ever guess.

Calcinder wasn't a threat, really. Dagger went in, hissing, his scales scraping along the ground. Flames flickered, reflecting off of him, but he remained unharmed, his tough, crystal-like skin unable to be penetrated. Finally, we threw the Twilight device and it banished the Archduke. Finished, we could go back to the Point.

Who should be waiting for us, but Lunk. He said he was proud of us for killing the Archduke without actually killing him, and offered me a heavy gear. I looked at it, he looked at me, and I sighed. Lunk. Meanwhile, Overseer Oilfist proudly gave me a necklace from their treasure stash and proclaimed me to be a member of the Thorium Brotherhood. He clapped me on the shoulder, saluted, and wished me good luck in whatever ventures I have next.

I was getting set to leave to Burning Steppes, when Dagger was no where to be seen. Overseer Oilfist called out and I saw Dagger, next to him. The snake hissed, swaying slightly.

His message was pretty clear. He didn't want to leave with me, he wanted to stay. That damned lazy snake. I let him stay, because he deserved the rest. The Overseer promised he would keep Dagger out of trouble, anything for his sister and hero of the the Point. So, Molly, Buzzard and I packed our bags, and with a final good bye to Dagger, were on our way to Burning Steppes.

...That snake...

And it is getting -hard- to choose a pet I like. Either way, this one coming up should be a suitable pet. I like it enough, anyways. Now I have to choose a name.

A goblin flagged me down, asking me to make a delivery down to Bogpaddle. They gave me money to take a gryphon back, so I figured why not? It can't hurt. Well, it did. Ended up crashing and nearly lit on fire if it were for my fast reflexes. Leaped out of that rocket and hid behind a crate when it blew. The goblins were pretty damn impressed, at least, and they cheered and clapped. Then they buried the poor pilot. Delivery made, I figured it'd be fun to wander the swamp a bit, see if I could find anything neat.

Huh. I wonder what the temple is there for. I would've looked, but there were some dangerous fish in the water, and without a companion, I wasn't going to risk it. So Molly, Buzzard and I carried on along the outskirts of the lake.

And we ran right into a winged snake! It was a lot more lithe and thin than Dagger was, but it looked just as furious. It lashed towards me, but quick thinking and I placed a trap down. It was frozen, and on a whim, I tried forming a bond with the snake.

The wind serpent, calmed, coiled around my shoulders, head slightly raised and hissing a warning to the other much smaller snakes. This one must have been the dominant snake. As we rode back on a gryphon to the Steppes, I had to think of a name. I think his name will be Daray. He looks like one to me. So Daray, Molly, Buzzard and I got ready to face Burning Steppes and whatever was to come.

((Fun fact: This snake was actually one I discovered in Beta, the red-winged snake that shared a skin with rare spawn in the Barrens who's gone (The one that spat fire.) and the snakes in the temple.

Also, Kira has yet to have any pets named after her characters, so here we go. Daray and Molly. Heh. I think I'll start Burning Steppes next post. ))

Goodbye for now, Dagger. Hopefully he'll make use of himself somehow to the Thoriums. Maybe. Nah. Wonder what kind of adventures you'll have with Daray :) Also notice how you've gone from one red snake to another. 'Cept this one has wings.

By the way, Azzere the Skyblade, the rare spawn you mentioned, is still very much in game. Varethyn tamed him not long ago in fact (though I released him recently to make space for the new rares, some of which I didn't click with after all >_>. Might pick him up again later). From what I've seen he has a very large patrol route, but I found him twice just south of Ruins of Taurajo.
