Hes very sweet. I liked Reeva and Euryale though too. Well description wise. I really wish Sylvari were in game. I'm dying to play one!

So I spent all last night playing and went from level 1 to level 9. Really awesome game. May get in some more time tonight but unsure. I sadly got bored quickly last night because venturing and exploring was met with a lot of dying and "fighting to survive". I encountered very few true bugs. Mostly occasional lag but other then that it was problem free. VERY heavily populated which was to be expected but kind of bummed me out because it made it tough to charm anything and sometimes quest.
Overall the game is stunning but not as impressive as the press beta videos I've seen. It appears they may have dumbed down the fighting mechanics compared to the first beta releases. Which, IN MY OPINION, is a real shame. But over all it's gorgeous, graphics are amazing and it's fun. I don't see it being a WoW-killer at this point. Had they left it the way it was during the press beta tests then yeah it would really be giving Blizzard a run for their money. But this is in my opinion.

I want to post here, but I'm PVPing (MM necros are OPPPPP ohmygod, it's so much fun!) and running out of hours to spend on here. I have my sharp knife antidepressants other games ready for when it's all over.
I've played 36 hours so far. ._. My soul has been sold, for sure.
However, Zed, how do you think they've dumbed it down? I haven't seen anything too different from what I was expecting having watched as many beta vids as I have, but I may have missed something. I do that a lot xP

So what servers are everyone on, out of interest?
I took Far Shiverpeaks (EU) just because of the name
Also, been playing PvP (that's my main love in most games) and it's pretty damn fun, I have to say. The mechanics of keybinding, and the lack of information on the Target frame (i.e. no WoW-style Target of Target or cast bar that I can see), as well as a rather poor HuD for self/pet HP, is a little poo. But the abilities themselves and the customizability, as well as the FPS quick-fight style of the "battlegrounds," are great.
I am using a Ranger, with a Lynx (check out their insane damage stats + bleed--they're ugly but damn they're good).
I've traited mostly for Beast Master things, as well as some Skirmishing stuff to gain buffs when switching weapons--as I use a Longbow mainly, and then an Axe + Warhorn (mostly for the speed boost).
Click if you want to see an overview of my traits + slotted abilities!
I use Sharpening Stone and then Rapid Fire, which quickly stacks a ton of bleeds on the enemy. I also use Mud Trap--I liked the Crippling well enough, but the targetting circle of Mud + the 2 second root is really good. I use Rampage as One as my Elite, sort of a Bestial Wrath, and my signet is the Regeneration one, which when popped along with Rampage, gives my pet a big damage boost. I also took some Marksman skills, including Eagle Eye (although that doesn't show in the screenshot--I swapped out the middle MM trait for it), and Beastmaster's Signet (for another 5% increased pet damage on signet activation). I can also use Barrage with Sharpening Stone, or with the AoE hatchet attack, for even more insanity. Oh, and of course I've traited 30% extra pet crit damage in Skirmishing.
The Signet of Regen + Heal as One, and the +heal on Crit weapon enchant, and Carnivorous... something, for the pet, combine for some pretty crazy survivability.
Combined, these talent choices + the Longbow Ranger playstyle make a pretty good survivability char that can snipe from a very long range, do some good self-heals, sick damage through the pet, and simply cannot be caught by melee (the mud root + knockback shot together are nuts, really--the person struggles over the trap, you knock them right back to the other side of it

).
So yeah, damn he's ugly but he hits like a truck!

I've tried out Necromancer and Thief as well; the Thief mechanics seem very clunky currently, although fun regardless. Part of it is that Thieves have several special abilities that lock you in place while they activate, meaning that if someone is running away, you're left hitting midair--definitely needs a fix. But when you DO hit, you do a lot of damage, and you look really good doing it too
The Necromancer has a very cool "theme" around it--all green and black swirling evil and crazy spectral claws. I played this on two races, and I must say I enjoy it. I didn't get very far with this, nor did I PvP--so it may not be as good later on--but at low levels, anyway, it sports very high damage, an awesome-looking (and -feeling, imo) playstyle, and great self-heals.
Looking forward to checking out the Sylvari zones later on!!

I did most of my PVP on a necromancer. Like I said, minion master is pretty overpowered. 2v1 I could usually win. 3V1 was still close. It's absurd, I love it.
Rangers still have a bit of fixing up waiting to be done - biggest example is the pet AI (this applies to necro minions too iirc) is buggy. Nothing better than watching pets/minions not attack... But no doubt they'll fix that. All a matter of time.

I agree. This game has completely won me over. I'm already thinking of names for some of my pets... Cause I'm a dork like that. :B I have Varg (Alpine Wolf), Baast (Snow Leopard), Athena (Lynx), Ursa (Polar Bear), Kuma (Black Bear), Tarlo (Brown Bear), Saki (Hyena), Draven (Raven)... and I never named the Ice Drake. D:
I was actually really tempted to name my white wolf either Larka or Kaala. >.>

I'm going to start a GW2-related tumblr, I think. If any of you would be interested, I can toss the link out here whenever I get it set up. Should be fun and hopefully pretty community-oriented, once it's out there.

Well, I had a SHEDload of fun trying out the fire-based staff Elementalist. FIRE EVERYWHERE. The AoE is sick, the single-target's insane, and if you take mists/tornado, you have quite a lot of time where you're pretty much invulnerable. Tornado is also just OP in PvP--I would set everyone on fire, and lay down Fire AoE, and when they started whaling on me, I'd just go "LOL NOW I'M A TORNADO" and kill them all.
It was squishy, but not nearly as bad as some of the other types I tried, and I was laughing nonstop for pretty much all the Structured I did on him, which is an epic + in my book
For anyone who missed the Ending Event--for the last hour of the Beta, the Norn "Wild Hunt" was transformed into a free-for-all Great Critter Hunt throughout Wayfarer Foothills. Tons of super elite mobs--ranging from raccoons to deer to black moas--were going crazy all over the zone. There was a "Glory" score at the end, with my server (Far Shiverpeaks) having something like 240,000 glory. The last boss was up where new Norns fight the ice wurm--and it was a Legendary albino rabbit

HOBOY. Here I go with being in-divisive. I know I will be maining Ranger, but...I'm now stuck between two races. Charr or Norn. One race will be my main, the other will be an alt, but I'm having trouble deciding. Norn have an amazing culture, but they seem a bit.. too human in a sense. They're a very interesting race, but that's offsetting me to them. Charr are adorable. <3
Also, I did some PvP last night and I must say, that was one the most fun times I had every had in it. I quickly learned to always stick with the group after wandering off one too many times on my own. XD

My Necromancer is Sylvari(shes my main!) I have two charr(Thief and Elementalist planned) and I was going to make a human engineer but I tried Guardian last night. I loved it so thats my fourth class and not huma.. Asura! Whats cuter than a little ground-pounder. >:D Asura is so much better than Gnomes.

xD I loved the PVP. Part of me really hopes they balance minion masters... but, part of me hopes they don't because I'd know what my PVP main would be lmao.
