LupisDarkmoon wrote:[...]Seriously, if you just got impaled twice in the chest with a claymore, you lost.
In RP, doing something like "/e impales you in the chest with her sword" is overpowering as well. A better way to go about it would be "/e swings her sword at your chest". That way, you both have some control, like in real combat. Your opponent could very well try "/e attempts a desperate block at the quick swing, but only partially succeeds".

Anyhow, Sat out. Time to cause some nuclear explosions from the safety of my spaceship, protected behind mighty forceshields. DIE PUNY MORTALS! BWAHAHAHAHAH!

People who think addon's like Necrosis and PetEmote are only used by RPer's. Sure, i do alittle RP when im really really bored, but I could hardly be called an RPer. Yet people call me a hard-core RPer becuase i have thouse addons...I think i would be on an RP server if i was a hard core RPer...

On the topic of RP, Lupis, I agree, and what Saturo said was the appropriate way to fight in an RP duel. However, I've used a different method that worked fairly well.

Rolling system.

Essentially, character does "/e uses (Attack.)
/roll (level of attacking character.)
/roll of the DEFENDING character.) (level)

IF the attacking roll is higher than the defense roll, it hits. If not, the defense succeeds. I used this one when Azu was fighting, and it worked very well. Even though Azu was outmatached, she still had a small chance, just like the underdog does, to hit her opponent.

A more coherent example:

Azunara tries to tackle Saturo.
Azu's /roll 1-80: 42
Saturo's Roll 1-80 : 43

Here, Azu failed in her attack, however, because the numbers are close, you can angle it to, "Azunara misses, however her claws skim the gnome's armor."

On the topic of the game,

Siblings. Grr.

Being completely wide awake at 9 am -- not having been to bed yet 'tonight' -- while also being so obviously exhausted that I can no longer code even in JavaScript (!).

Rolling system.
Aye, that's actually what the situation was. We don't tend to use hit points too strictly, but as the attacks happened and the rolls turned out, the person that was in the fight (I was a bystander) should have at least showed that the character is damaged. But eh, I meant the entire rant in a broader sense. ^.^;;

Biggest pet peeve ever. EVER. EEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEERRR.

Having step siblings that are manipulative backstabbing two-faced bastards, but yet your step parent favors them because they're his kids, and then treats you like you're the lesser being because you didn't spawn from his seed. sdfghjdrt5fuygutufyguh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then one of the stepsisters invites you to a party, but you don't go because you would be as awkward as a goat in skates and probably mocked while you're at the party, so you get insulted because you weren't there.

Or you're at work with one of your step siblings and get questioned because of the way you do something that's outside of their comfort zone. Or you get called a bitch and a whore and a little skank JUST BECAUSE you are the daughter of the woman who is married to their father, and they don't like the fact that he married a younger woman. Or their father treats you like you're always the liar and the thief, despite the fact that it's HIS OWN CHILDREN that are robbing him blind! Asdfghjirdcfvgtbhy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/rages so hard that she throws up blood

Guess what my Deadly Sin is. Yes, that's right, it's Wrath!

What grinds my gears is:

Siblings that don't understand that things in life change, people change and attitudes change, and try to "put things back to how they were when we were kids"......and then get upset with you because you didn't make it to a family function you didn't know about.

Mothers who are manipulative, lazy and self-serving to the point where their oldest child, 10 years later, has just gotten out of the thousands of dollars worth of debt you put him in by opening up credit cards in his name as soon as he turned 18. The same woman who has decided to cheat on her husband of 30 years, and then whine about him not loving her anymore when she gets caught. Wake up call! He hasn't shared a bed with you since 1996 because you are a lying thief, but he can't stand the thought of divorce. You've ruined his credit, his spirits and everything else about him, but you can only think about yourself.

The same woman who was partially the cause of my husband and I deciding to get married alone. It was the 2 of us, our justice of the peace and our roomate to take some pictures.

Sorry....it's been a day...needed to vent a bit *cough*

I'm fairly certain you don't need to apologise for venting in a thread that is made for that purpose...

Both of your posts, Janga and Ordine, make me so sad. :( It's terrible when a family becomes full of conflict and anger.

   to ya both.

Eh....it normally doesn't bother me much anymore...I've been out of my parents house for a number of years, and really only see the annoying ones on holidays.

Unless, of course, I get dragged into something...which is why I'm so irritated at the moment lol

Thanks for the hugs *hugs back*

Anyways, on a less family oriented rant, what really annoys me is:

People who get caught shoplifting and try to deny it, start crying and begging us to not call their parents (minors, so we have to), pleading with us because it's going to ruin their summer vacation/birthday (I'm not the one who chose to steal...) telling us they'll pay for the stuff they stole (they already had the chance to do that), and the people who get offended when I say that they've committed a crime......boggles

people using a fictional book - that was translated and re-translated half a dozen times, written by wandering nomads, millennia ago, containing hundreds upon hundreds of obvious contradictions and factual errors - to justify their bigotry.

there.
I said it.

Suku, first of all, lmao. I'm not gonna say anything else here, but yes, I totally concur.

Ordine, let us rage together. /gets torches and pitchforks

Sara, thanks so much. =) And thank everyone for not minding me and my blood-rage fueled wrath. It's a really bad situation, because the only family I have at all in my life is my mother...my aunt got married, moved, and now treats me like dirt, and my grandma is a drunkard, so yeah. It's pretty bad. Why do you think I escape to Warcraft?

Less personal 'grind of my gears' would be...hm.................CELEBRITIES. I SAID IT. Stupid celebrities that whine and cry when they're in the spotlight too much, well guess what, IT'S YOUR JOB. And I hate that they don't get punished like everyone else when they take drugs, steal, beat their wives, and cause mayhem. THEY ARE NORMAL PEOPLE WITH NORMAL JOBS, treat them as such!

Also, when you're taming a really rare mob (like Arcturis) and someone takes time out of his/her day to kill your mob and make you miserable!!! SDFGHJSDFGHDFG!!!!!!!!!! /throws her keyboard at the wall

What really makes me mad on the topic of celebrities is how they get treated better than everyone else because they are famous. Take Lindsey Lohan for instance she was going to serve longer jail time no questions asked for the crime she commited and she bawls and sobs and weasels her way into IF I remember correctly maybe 30 days? Thats such complete BS it isnt even funny. Oh and  to Janga, Sili, and Korii <3

I cut off all contact with my family for five years after my father died. It wasn't really a big thing for me: I was just ... done. There's history and drama and addiction and abuse and mental illness and ... and I am just done with it.

I talked to my mother and stepfather a couple of times last year and decided that yes, my decision had been the right one. I miss my father, though.

Today's gripe: eval()

*sigh* I hate how freaking long WoW takes to download/install from scratch. =P

I'm currently on vacation, visiting family in BC. My boyfriend brought his laptop which I've been using for the past few days sporadically, but since SCII came out today he's repossessed it. x)

Anyways, my Mom's computer isn't great, but I know it plays WoW decently on low settings so I'm installing it. Of course the internet connection here is sort of crappy so it's literally taking days to install. ><
