Well apart from the extra gems on the JC cats and the eye and armor color difference, they are identical models atm. (while there running animations are the same also as far as I can tell) In fact the Obsidian Nightwing follows the Winged Guardian animations of flight identical also (including the head sway, looking from left to right while idle in the air)

Yeah, The wing structure/design on both of them are the same also, just not "oh ShinY!" on the Nightwing.

It's also most likely the reason why a lot of people did not like the "flying" animations/style of the Night wing. While in mid air it's body does sick out the back a lot and the wings look to far forward to support the wight at the back, and even worse if you had someone riding you. This was a domino effect from them using the winged guardian flying animations. The winged guardian had a much bigger/meatier/boof head. This actually made the mount look balanced due to size/weight distribution and people did not really complain about the wings being so far forward as it still looked balanced. With the new sleeker and smaller headed panther model, not so much. But hey, as Cows said.... IT'S MAGICS!

Or maybe gnomes will strap a couple of rockets on them, like the rocket chicken pet. Then they'll be even more like Voltron.

I'm hoping they decide to add in a 150 mount achievement in MoP. There's so many new mounts it won't be too hard to get now.
