Re: [Blizzcon] Possible new hunter pets
Just tweeted Jeremy Feasel asking if they'll stay non exotic and keep Bellowing Roar as their family special skill. Hopefully he gets back to me on this.
It certainly wouldn't hurt if more people asked.

Re: [Blizzcon] Possible new hunter pets
Haha, the "Buttheads" would be awesome. I was going to term it "Ungulates" though I believe that includes boars and rhinos (but would otherwise cover the whole gamut the best I believe), so I went the completely unscientific route and called them "Grazers" instead. Or "Hoofed Mammals" though I guess that sounds even less elegant.Wain wrote:Goats, rams, talbuks and antelopes all belong in the caprids and could easily be grouped as one family. Not only do they form a genetic group but they would all pretty much attack the same way.
So those at least could be added very easily without the need for a new family. And talbuks would be in theme with the xpac.
The family could be renamed from Goats to Caprids. But if not then they could be named Bucks or Buttheads or something.

Re: [Blizzcon] Possible new hunter pets
I doubt they'll be exotics only because of the so many other hunters who were lucky to get the ghost hydra back in the day probably didn't tame them under BM or use that.
So making them exotic would force those players to use that spec which could draw some serious hostilities.

Yeah, and it's already a set pet class in game so I wouldn't worry too much. <3

Re: [Blizzcon] Possible new hunter pets
So all this excitement about new pets made me go out and buy a month and as I was scrolling through my characters I noticed one of my Hunters is holding an ax
Re: [Blizzcon] Possible new hunter pets
Yeah, I've got...a couple of those laying around. >.> <.<
someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket
Re: [Blizzcon] Possible new hunter pets
Added hydras to the list in the OP since it seems quite likely they'll become tameable.

^ this! I cant wait for this glorious, ugly monstrosity to be mine!Ickabob wrote:

I doubt they will be exotic since the hydras that have been tamed thus far are not bm exclusive. (also the hunter in the screen shot had low level gear and I doubt it would be xmog.) of course the ghost wolf they promised us ended up being a spirit beast but I think that an entirely different situation and Blizz wouldn't make one of the most coveted pets bm only after years of waiting.
(although I wouldn't complain if we also saw a spirit beast hydra at some point...)

Actually I'm pretty sure you wouldn't even have to buy WOD for that, as it'll probably be just a regular content patch.Sherbe wrote:I will in all seriousness buy WOD just so I can get my hydra!

The above is very true. All the hydras are appearing as tamable so you wouldn't have to worry about getting WoD.

Re: [Blizzcon] Possible new hunter pets
I'm going to be extra cynical and ask why we're finally getting hydra pets. We've asked a few times, and every time we get shut down. The last time it came up, I distinctly remember them saying that they hated how old the model looked. Well, the model is still old-looking. It's even older than the last time we asked about it, if you want to get technical!Kayb wrote:Call my cynical, but with April Fools just around the corner, I'd still be waiting for a more solid 'confirmation' than this.

There are going to be hydras in Draenor that will have updated art assets.Schlimazel wrote: I'm going to be extra cynical and ask why we're finally getting hydra pets.
