Those owls are beautiful, I just wish they used the vanilla owl skeleton

Oh they don't?!? That's a shame I think only some of the vanilla carrion (oh and some BC) birds share that with the vanilla owls.

I wonder if they chose not to use it due to the new owl having a significantly shorter tail and so it somehow looked odd/off balance with the vanilla skeleton? Might have been simply so they could have a standing (on the ground) option for them (which can be seen on the previous page of this thread). The old skeleton never had a resting ground/stand option, that only appeared in BC with the Druid flight form models.

I'm conflicted because I like the flying(running) animation of the original owl skeleton, but those cardboard folding wings bother me so much on them. When they're idling or flapping it just looks so...awkward the way the wings bend. The newer eagle skeleton had a bit better of a look when it's flapping I think, so overall I do prefer it.

Yeah, the cardboard wings are pretty iffy. I wonder if a newer model using that skelly would still look as awkward. But as with you I really like their "running" animation (the occasional double flap in between flaps is pretty cool), I've always really liked that skelly's "Side Swipe" attack animation too, talons out wings back, tones of personality.

Yes! I agree. Lots of personality in the animations, I just wish they'd update the wings to be more flexible and natural. I know they can by this point. Because I definitely agree the old owl skeletons have a different mood than the eagle ones and it's a shame to lose that original just because it's dated. (I don't think they've used it much in recent models? If at all?)

Also, I'd personally like if there were more glyphs, such as to change the flight form to that new Legion raven, to the MoP bat model and Legion eagle.

They are lovely!

I have seen them. But early in the Alpha there were two other new colours as well. I can't see them anymore and wonder if they were removed. The missing ones were these two colours:

Not sure if these guys have been logged in yet - Was a rare mob - with a murloc rider - Stormheim if I remember correctly. Didn't think much of it - but I just remembered to look for his skin and I didn't notice it anywhere - might have missed it - anyways - here are some shots:




biggest distinction being the light bands on his claws - they really pop out. Didn't notice them like that anywhere yet -

A huge shame. :< I've been looking for a golden/tan colored updated wolf for.. years. I have the mulgore coyotes now, as a memorial to my dog which passed several years ago, a shepherd-lab mix that was tawny golden. But there's never been an updated golden/tan wolf.
