(have a white devilsaur, a blue ZD hound, and a blue windserpent. Anything else is fair game!)

This was one of my best hunter-y experiences before, so should hopefully be fun again this time.

(edit: not just laziness - the petopia forums somehow sneak past my work's web filter so I can browse at lunch times, but the main site is a no-no sadly, so I can't look it up myself).

I'm still working on my old challenge!



There has got to be a way to automate this though. Its basically rolling on two tables (family, skin), filtered by level, with a possible 3rd roll for the specific tameable beast. A series of random numbers and some vlookups would do it in a spreadsheet I'm sure.


Of course, part of the coolness is having someone else assign them to you!

I don't know if your lowbie is Horde or Alliance, and it occurs to me that if it's Horde, this last could be trouble. If so, and if you want a re-roll, just shout!

Ironically, I made a huge list of pets to tame. That bad was on the list for Fire. So I'm totally going for it!

As for the owl...Well, Tera is horde...But we'll see what I can do.

Black outland Raptor, green t rex, Skoll, Red Crab, OCJ, The Beast, Aotona, Tan Silithid, White Vanilla model Worm.

Well, my mains hunter stables are full. But I also have:

Daenak, level 15 troll hunter: light grey worg, black worg, dishu, tarantula, daggercap hawk, tiger, polar bear.

Llynarai, level 10 blood elf hunter: dark black cat, brown lion

I know my options are pretty small here due to my level, but I will be willing to run all over to get them!

This seems interesting. I've been trying new pets since the patch so I'll give it a shot.

For memories sake I went to Duskwood to tame one of these since it was the first time I had ever seen one when leveling up my former Draenei hunter (I was new to the game).

Pretty simple tame, I came in from Booty Bay (being a horde hunter), and found a couple of black worgs by the roadside with nothing else nearby to aggro on. Named him Shadow--cliche but simple.

Try tanking an 80 elite with your pet
Didn't try this as I'm working on the Hallow's End achievements, but from previous experience, I imagine (depending on the elite) that I would have had to do a lot of kiting, or it would fail miserably.

Level it a level or two
Didn't do this either as our pets now start at 77 (yay) and there's not much he can get experience from the old world. >_>

Do a heroic
Did this, got H FoS. 5% crit (what wolves now provide to yourself and party/raid) isn't bad, I'm already at 55% unbuffed crit so for me it's a 'meh' buff as I'd rather use something that benefits the group as a whole. Even for being a 77 pet I managed to stay on top of the meters as a survival hunter (probably not saying much for FoS and could be more due to my being decently geared than the pet).

Do a battleground
This gave me a reason to test out the new hunter pvp; gotta say, I had a blast!
I wouldn't recommend using a wolf as a pvp pet though unless you have some friends that can keep you protected and get the full benefit of the 5% crit buff. Personally I prefer pets that bring a little more to the table, especially as SV where my pet's damage is negligible anyway.

Check the pet out in different lightings
Imo, this color of worg looks the best in dark/shaded lightings as they bring out the best of his black/silver coat. In bright places like SMC, he seems to get dull and almost brown looking.

Check out swimming and possibly levitate animations (if any)
And here is why I've never had one of these models of worg longterm. =P
I think they have this incredibly goofy run animation that looks like their joints are stiff or something--it's the same issue that I have with the wolf mounts and why I don't always ride them very often. It's endearing in a way, but off-putting at the same time and usually has me abandoning one of these guys. Their swim animation is much the same. Goofy and unnatural. They only move their ankles with the slightest jerk of their legs.

Misc.: Simple diet, eats meat; I usually keep some for my initial taming of pets as it's the fastest way to get them combat ready. All in all, I may keep the silvery version of this model sitting in my stables, as it's not a bad pet. Quiet like all the wolf models, and not much in the way of idle animations for those who are bothered by the 'crazy' pets. However, the 'vanilla' wolf models have always been my favorite and I may go back to using one of those over the worg model.
