Been lurking for a while.. Appreciate the effort put into this stuff, I got me a couple of cool looking pets now cause of you all. I don't think I have seen it posted before but found that you can tame 'Wildthorn Lurker' in Ashenvale and have it maintain its "prowl" effect though it is only for looks cause once it attacks/dies it will break it and lose the effect. I am pretty sure you could use this for all the pets who have a prowl effect too.

Just toss a freezing trap on them so they keep their prowl effect while their frozen then use the tame / abandon trick.

However when you logout make sure there is no enemies nearby since he starts on aggressive and will break it once he attacks. Pic below.

Oh cool, thanks!

So you can tame prowling pets, but it will break the moment they attack or die, is that right?

Looks like the US thread that was made on the Customer Support forums got redirected to the Bug Report forum, so at least we know someone at Blizz actually read the thread. But as for the ultimate word on the subject, no clue yet.

Can I tame a fabled stealth devilsaur from Un'goro this way?

It's likely they won't give one until they speak to the devs. I doubt they'll risk another GTSG situation.

I still fume over that drastic miscommunication...

I agree, that's probably what they'll do.

Meanwhile, on the US thread, apparently my name has become Acheronita :P Easy enough to misspell I guess but now I'm reading "Anita"

Anita, huh? Should either make for a good pet name, or a nickname.

Anyways, I suspect that the thread on the Hunter forum will get locked, to redirect users to the thread in the Bug Report forum. Thus, when we do get a definitive blue response, it will be on one thread instead of two.

EDIT: To clarify, Acherontia's name needs to be corrected on the thread in the US Bug Report forum; it may prove to be a bit of an issue if Acherontia is to be contacted in-game by a GM :)

It's listed on the front page :) It's one of the ones you can use this method for, but it will LOSE the sparkles on death.

They genuinely don't need to, as it's already in this post repeatedly. I think if someone can't read it here it won't matter where they are.

Apologies if I sound somewhat hostile, but I put a lot of work and effort into making this post and linking to every SINGLE mob this can be done on, along with images of each (for which I went around and tested them all), and I don't like that everyone is being redirected to what is essentially a copy/paste >.>

Thanks Englishlady, will add!

It was an idea I posted in this thread way back on page 9

So how do we as the Hunter Community help prevent a Garwal type reaction from Blizzard? I say we post on to forums to FIX the pets with the damage debuffs that persist after the tame. But request they leave the others alone.

How to fix one and not the other? Make all the pets that have the damage buffs untamable and removed from the stables of the hunters that have done it.
But whos counting right??

If I may insert some meta communication here to (hopefully) clear up some air?

Griffley is working real hard to make a topic to help this community along. And so is Acherontia. Both of you have credit for this taming method and it's starting to look like a cockfight with 2 running threads on the subject. I hope you both can work this out and work together in making one awesome thread...

I love you both for these findings :)

Tbh, I'd found the method and wrote the guide.

I'd prefer it if it was merely linked rather than copy-pasted into another thread, because the entire thing was my work. I'm not desperate for recognition, but I do feel like someone else is essentially getting credit for my effort.* Getting a "thanks for this, I'll add it to my guide" when no other information bar what's in THIS guide is NEEDED kind of feels like a kick in the gut, but it doesn't matter in the end (as I'm sure it'll get hotfixed soon lol), so I haven't kicked up a fuss :P

* The effort in question was finding the macro + method, proving it, and then running down each individual mob, getting, uploading and linking screenshots for each, and getting and linking the WoWHead URLs for each mob, which did take quite a few hours.
