The only dilemma I have for B+W is starters... I don't like any of the first forms, and can tolerate the Water or Grass final forms, but idk if I'll live through the first 36 or so levels of either...

Gim, you dont have to keep using the starters you know...You can easily replace it with any of the other pokemon found around. I might end up not using a starter in my English white version just because I've used them so much in my japanese versions. The starters are mearly to help you get started.
**edit: Just noticed a difference from Japanese to english version. The pokemons stats are all white in the english versions, where as the japanese versions had white, blue and red coloratins depending on if the stat grew fast/slower or normal. Its a pity they removed that for the english release, would have made finding out your pokemons growth much easier as you could see at a glance which stats where good/bad/normal.

Oh I know, but it's kinda traditional for me to use my starter in my main team, start to finish. That, and it's a bit hard to find a decent pokemon of those types so early on (typically). I'll prolly suck it up and pick Snivelus or an Osha-What?! (My joke names for the two, as Snivy reminds my of Severus Snapes nickname, and Oshawat does NOT look like a seal/anything of that sort.

)
Edit: I have to tell this horrible story... So I walk into Icefall cave, ground level. It has Delibird in it, and I'm desperately after it, but guess what, it's the first pokemon I encounter! I'm sitting there, awe-struck that I found a 5% pokemon first encounter, and go to use my Lapras' ice beam to weaken it, and accidentally hit sheer cold, I'm thinking, oh well, it'll prolly miss... NOT I guess Lapras wants to be my only Ice pokemon b/c she cleaned house on the poor bird. *sigh* Here goes to what will prolly be another hour of running in a straight line to find the damned bird again.

why does a sea otter have a Sealion as it's fully evolved form... The world may never know.

Because sealions eat sea otters, so these here Otters are fighting back Evo style!!

Pokeman has plently of weird evolutions...
Flaffy-amphoros its like a sheep evolving into a giraffe
Clampearl-hunttail/gorbyss its a clam evolving into a sea snake
dragonair-dragonite- chinese dragon to bipedal western dragon(I think?)
pupitar-tyranitar a cocoon to a dinosaur

It's actually when they jump over something, hold on, I'll be coming in with an edit when I find it.
Edit: As promised--
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Gyrados Read the 'Trivia' section at the very bottom, it's based off of carps jumping over the dragon gate and transforming.

Vibrarta(the dragonfly evolution of trapinch I forget its name)>flygon (I unstand the trapinch to the dragonfly but dragonfly to dragon not really)
shelgon to salamance (rock to dragon basically)

.............. ENOUGH WITH THE FRICKING OSHAWOTT HATE! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! *Raeg* I mean, SERIOUSLY? IT'S A F**KING SEA OTTER. AND WHO THE
HELL CARES IF IT HAS A SEAL LION FOR AN EVOLUTION?! ZIGZAGOON IS A RACCOON WHO TURNS INTO A FREAKIN'
BADGER. IT IS NOT THAT UNCOMMON FOR A POKEMON TO EVOLVE INTO SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Not from what I've noticed. All my Pokemon have the red/blue stats depending on their nature. The only one who doesn't is my Herdier, but he has a Bashful nature.
ALSOOOO. Update! I've gotten my third Badge, and have gotten to Nimbasa City. Haven't done anything there really.. Just went and zipped through and went to Route 16. Why? Emonga! It took forever, due to Emongas ONLY being in shaking grass, and even then they're uncommon. Not to mention the first two were male. But finally.. I caught my little Emonga, Roxie! <3
So, now I have two members of my planned team. Not bad. Next stop on the planned team stuff.. ... Whatever-the-heck-it's-called-Cave! I'll be able to get mah little Joltik there <3
Lily has also evolved, due to her basically having the best moveset my half-fried brain can come up with XD (Which is Grass Knot, Work Up, Yawn and Flame Burst)

Ahem. I believe someone warned you about mentioning Oshawott in a negative light.
(Just messing with people. I'll probably take Oshawott as my starter, it's my favorite.)

I fell in love with Mijumara/Oshawott when he was first introduced. My buds didn't start liking him until the anime was shown which oddly had the Oshawott stalking Ash and company.
