So for some bizarre reason I thought Godzilla came out on Friday, not today! What a surprise to wake up to huh?! xD We *might* be seeing it today, me and my boyfriend. The plan was to see it tomorrow but my classes are over now, I have an assignment due on Monday but I'm sure I can spare a couple of hours to walk over to the cinema. I NEED TO SEE THIS!
I'VE JUST COME BACK FROM THE CINEMA

My husband and I made a day of it yesterday. The closest Imax cinema is 2-3 hours away from us, so we left at 7 am, made the long trip, lunch, various appointments, some shopping, and 3D Imax Gojira!
He's not a fan, but enjoyed it nonetheless.
I'm a massive fan, and totally loved it.

I just saw it. It was pretty good. I wish there was more godzilla though and less people scenes. Had some really awesome shots though, I hope I can find some of those images online. So much badassness.

Godzilla! My husband and I and a group of friends saw it on opening night (12:01 a.m. Friday), and I really really liked it. I've never seen the originals, but my husband said they kept true to it. My only complaint is that there was a little too much human blah blah stuff, and not enough Godzilla fighting stuff. But overall, it was still really cool!

for those who might like to know:
its opening week-end has been a record breaker.
the sequel to Godzilla has already been greenlit.

In two weeks I'm taking the long trip (around 8 hours from my place) to Toronto to see a childhood friend I haven't seen in years. And the very first thing we have planned is a trip tot he Imax to see Gojira!

So Godzilla is doing fabulously at the box office. Makes me so happy. I really, really hope Universal/Legendary get the rights to use other kaiju as I would DIE to see a Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah remake! THAT. WOULD BE. SO EPIC. Literally the only thing that could've made this one any better for me was to have a traditional kaiju in there instead of new ones, but the Cloverfield-ripoff was cool too. xD (Joke guys. Don't kill me. I just thought the MUTOs looked a lot like Clover.)
Buuuuut... My mum really wants to see it. As well as seeing it again on Wednesday with my friends I THINK ME AND MY MUM ARE SEEING IT IN IMAX JDKFKSFNSJLKSNSDL

Going to see Godxilla in IMAX 3D with my boyfriend tomorrow. Very excited. He was my childhood. I really hope they play the song Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult, at least in the credits. I really hope they didn't pass up a golden opportunity.

No, the credits music is a suite of themes from the film, by Alexandre Desplats.

Speaking of the music, the theme for the movie is <3.

I'm a massive filmscore fan. I'm glad they asked Desplat to write the music to Gojira. Although I don't think it's necessarily his best soundtrack, it's FAR better than anything he-who-shall-not-be-named would have written.
There ARE some really awesome moments in the score. First time I saw the movie I was too busy well.. being AWED AND AMAZED by the film to notice the music as much. I only got to really hear it in that end credits suite.
When I see it again in a couple of weeks I'll probably be paying a TINY bit more attention to the music.
Oh, and did I mention the film was AWESOME?
The more I think about it, the more I enjoyed it. For me, it as the exact right balance of character development and monster battles. Too much monster battles and it becomes a copy of Pacific Rim (a guilty pleasure film for me). Too much character development and, well, it's no longer a monster movie.

Hey now. Pacific Rim was fun.

Pacific Rim had waaay too much robot, and not enough monster

Looking forward to Godzilla, will be seeing it sometime this week.
