To the Flight Rising Community,

We have cause to believe an outside party gained access to a Flight Rising administrator's account. At this time, we have no reason to believe user passwords have been compromised, but this does not mean that it is not recommended to change your passwords often. We recommend performing password resets on your Flight Rising e-mail account to be safe.

We are disappointed that someone would seek to attack the site in this manner, but will not rest until we have found a resolution for it. We will notify the community immediately when we discover any additional information. We are sorry for this situation, and want to assure you we will be taking every avenue we can to address it.
Wow. I hope they catch who ever it is. People like that suck. There's Exploits.. and then BAD exploits. This falls under one of the Bad. I understand when I see people doing fun things liiike.. I dunno.. Taming pets with visual effect buffs! But then you get the people that start compromising accounts, Duping currency and stuff like this.. taking over admin accounts. Not cool.

In the event that you may have used the same password for both your Flight Rising account and your e-mail address, we recommend performing password resets on your Flight Rising e-mail account just as a precautionary measure.

His account. Not joking, throwing out a guess...you do know that he was recently in an accident that broke one arm and both legs right? Seems like the perfect time for an asshole to attack his account.

I've been hearing that it was Undel who got hacked.

Akiri makes far more sense though.

I'm thinking Undel too- though that's mostly based on how her username randomly changed to ' one day. I have no clue beyond that!

Looks like there is no ETA on when the site will be back up.

Upside: At least Fire was on top for Dominance when it went down and I'm not making myself blind from exalting babies and filling out a spread sheet.

All I know is this puts me seriously behind in getting the gold I need to expand my lair. I think I'm short like some 10+k gold still. I cannot complete trades without this done. Curse the jerk that cause this.

I had promised a really good friend that I would breed my two imperials - one needed underbelly that I require the nature discount for :( Still got 70kT to make to get to the discount price. Chances are the babies would need a secondary gene (one of the parents is basic), again needed the discount for that. They could breed yesterday >:( I've not gonna get them babies to hatch out in time for the nature discount to still be up after previewing the genes before I buy them :( *sigh*

Annnndddd all my dragons are now RTB after having planned on breeding them in a staggered pattern (as one nest hatches another pair can breed etc). Oh joy.

I suspect that hackers are targeting the site because a) it's a new site with imperfect security (as we've all seen) and b) they do utilize a cash shop. It's not big pickings, but it's comparatively /easy/ pickings, so they're hoping they'll get lucky and obtain a nice windfall without lots of work. People do buy gems with real money, and they're hoping they can get in there and get things like user info and credit card numbers without going to a whole lot of effort.

Sounds like that sort of information should be okay:

* I’m getting a little worried about this hacking situation on Flight Rising, since I’m also among those who bought gems with some real cash. x.x

Hey groovy,

Gem transactions entirely take place on Paypal’s website and not on Flight Rising; absolutely no form of sensitive financial user information is stored with us. We will, however, continue to stress basic account security (for any site you frequent on the internet) as a personal precaution.

Yeah, I assumed as much, but just because someone can break web code doesn't mean they're actually all that bright.

Besides, maybe they were hoping the admin account had access to the Paypal records.
