so do you just follow their path and eventually they'll POP out right at you or something?

I wonder, does an accompanying Rogue lets say just simply see a hunter fighting/taming thin air?

Follow the tracks and spam Flare ahead of them. If you follow the tracks you'll see more appear ahead of you so you'll know when you are going the right way. If you manage to get the Flare in the right place it'll reveal the beast.

You have to flare slightly ahead of the tracks, and the beast will "spawn". Once visible though, everyone can see them, but they drop no loot, and are elites, so I'm not thinking anyone will be killing these on accident.

Hmm I lost the tracks and now I cant seem to find them again anywhere. I am pretty sure there is noone else around either.. so either this cat has a huge huge pathing area or he despawns.. or someone snuck in and grabbed him..

They do seem to have huge pathing areas.

EDIT: Most, if not all, of the tracks seem to be backwards. I just hunted down Savage and the same thing happened.

I think they also despawn. The porcupine tracks just ceased even though there was noone around. And I've been following Stompy around near Shado-Pan Monastery. His tracks also ceased eventually. I wonder if they then reappear in a different area, as Stompy's tracks have also been found where the path goes up the mountain, and here I was following him and he was doing circles, not walking off somewhere.

They will look like they despawn while the beast is moving forward and you are near the front of the set of tracks. The trick to catching one is to hunt them until you start seeing tracks appearing behind you.

Yah it seems they do go backwards. My flare hit Savage for a few secs kitty dissapeared did it again after 40 secs and he was still in the same spot. So he moves slowly, tried to get a better SS but I ticked kitty off  kitteh hurts.. alot.

But where he is, is where I put down my flare. Also he does path further then that area so you may be looking pretty far to find some tracks :)

This makes me a Happy Panda. Looking forward to playing MOP a bit more now :)

Wow that Savage looks incredible! I think my Skarr will be reborn a Siberian Tiger

I really want to get the hang of this before launch so that I really can just sit my butt down in Vale and tame Portents until it's the color I want.
I got one this morning (red with black mane), but it took me flaring one space until I noticed the tracks just suddenly spawned way ahead of where I was, flying to the right of the Shrine of Two Moons (the horde place), and then landing a flare at the end of THOSE tracks, where they met a dead end at a hill.

I'm hoping that hill is a spawn point. Would be nice to just sit there. :)

Hey Sasrei, do you think Savage would be tameable at 85? (perhaps with the tame beast glyph that lowers tame cast) I'm really curious to get out there to tame this beauty, I probably would focus on that right away if it would be possible once launch hits.

I guess I could download the BETA and try logging in to track her... but I'm a wee bit lazy.

People can still kill on purpose, though. :/ Just to grief. So be careful.

Aggannor wrote:But that brings up new question to me. Some pages ago someone said that these rares have 1 hour respawn timer. Any idea if it is only for testing (like humanoid rares had insane spawning for testing), or is this (about) the speed they are going to stay?
(Sorry for double; just saw this.)

Yes, the timer is shorter for testing purposes.

Thus I chose my wording carefully. There will always be griefers, so I said accidentally. Even on purpose though, a griefer would have to strictly follow a hunter around until they found the beast, and then attempt to kill the elite. I'm not sure that even the douchiest of griefers will be willing to do that, way too much hassle for a little bit of asshattery giggles.

Savage is lvl 85, and my hunter is lvl 85 :) So yes you can pick him up right away, as soon as it all downloads

Hopefully people wont be as nasty, but we all know it can happen. But because it doesnt have the rare tag it may sway certain people.. before it was all silver dragon = death. So hopefully.. people wont be as bad.

Beautiful! Mind Posting a Map pic of where you found her so I could reference later on? Or would it be somewhat of a zone-wide pathing?

She's basically in the area between Sri La Village and The Arboretum, where the tigers and porcupines are :)

Yep all around that area.. shes easy to lose even if you just found her. Think of them as ghostcrawler 5.0  got a pic of her strolling around, she doesnt seem to be fast but I lost her pretty quick after this.. its pretty much all luck.. and if I knew where the other ones were id go and see if I can get some nice SSs for everyone :)
