Yes, I am determined to hang onto my Tame Exotic Pets ability, it is not some game breaking mechanic, which allows me to do tons of damage while making me completely immune to retaliation. (unless the opponent just happens to be a priest)
It is a mostly cosmetic ability, true, but I will be damned if I just let it go without something substantial to take its place.
You may not realize it at all, but we are saying the same thing. I want bm to be balanced around damage and ability, NOT having a shiny pet and a few extra points in a pet tree. I would honestly like to play my bm spec all the time. I like it, but it just isn't as good as the other two when it comes down to it. That is what I am getting at. If the other trees got exotic pets, then blizz would have to compensate bms with more damage and better abilities.

GC has said numerous times the reason paladins aren't as competitive in damage (either in pvp or pve) is because we are balanced around defensive utility (main example is the bubble). Now if they removed the bubble paladins would be balanced around offensive utility, meaning an increase in damage and new abilities. This is partially shown in the changes to paladins. Bubble is getting nerfed, but we get an interrupt and some cool new abilities.

Also please don't bring retardins into this conversation. Messed up spec that can wtfpwn people in low end gear, but can't do crap against high end gear. Sure that is mostly because of how crazy resilience is now, and sure it's getting partially fixed in cata.

Let me sum up my point this way. If blizz said to bm hunters "there are no exotic pets anymore, anyone can tame anything. In exchange your new 51 point talent is called Aspec of the Beast. While in this aspect successful attacks regenerate x amount of focus per hit, and you and your pet dd 25% more damage". Would you be o.k. with it?

The last thing you said, I would be very happy in fact! :-D and I'm a BM!
Really simple and efficient, but then a huge damage problem would be created, and most probably BW and TBW would be nerfed to maintain some balance.

And again some of the BM hunters would whine.

Guess this is will be a huge step to take for many, but I'm confident that there will be lights in the end of the tunnel. Atleast, if suggested above happens, many raiders will be happy. :D

I know I'd be happy with that! That would be great for raiding (regenerating focus while standing) and for movement fights (increased damage at all times), without being a big bursty cooldown. It would most likely bring it more in line with the other two specs, AND, BM wouldn't be forced to use exotics and the other specs could bring any pet!

Speaking from a BM standpoint, I'd be very happy with that and would most definitely raid as BM again! Not that I can't now, it's just that we're finally on LK and I want to make sure I do the best I can do. :)

So yes, something like this would at least be a big first step towards making BM more attractive for all situations. :D

Success, something beast masters from all around might agree with, I hope blizzard have though about something like this only more deeper, I'll cross my fingers and toes! :-D

My point is this: Until Blizzard replaces the 51 pt talent in BM with something competitive (like duel pets, or a cool ability like Rhumba) don't expect me to go along with the idea of allowing "Just any old hunter" getting the ability that is a 51 pt talent for BM hunters.
Yes, I just quoted myself.
Like I said before, without something to take its place, I will fight the other specs getting the exotic pets.

Now for arguments sake, lets say Blizzard does implement some talent like your:
Aspec of the Beast. While in this aspect successful attacks regenerate x amount of focus per hit, and you and your pet dd 25% more damage
and at the same time giving exotic pets to all hunter.

YES, I would be all for it. In-fact, I would advocate for it.

Hell, I would be ALL FOR any ability worth its salt!

But to me its all about the order it is done (it may seem petty, but trust me it isn't,) you don't take something away before you give something. You can replace or add... just don't take away.

I agree 100%. That's what I've been saying all along. :) They can't take exotics away from BM unless they have a darned good talent to immediately take its place, all in one fell swoop. But as BM, I do hope that happens. I'd love to have a BM-specific aspect, that way it wouldn't seem like just another shot and a cheapened version of MM/SV. :) Plus, if the pet died, the hunter would still have the damage benefit, but not the focus regen benefit. (So they'd be hurt a little but they wouldn't be crippled). BM could use any pet they wanted (without being forced to use exotics for the extra skill) and the other two specs could use their favorite pets as well. In my humble opinion, it'd be a win-win situation. :)

I think exotics are one of those things that worked well on paper but when put into the game just made more problems than solved them. I mean i have seen alot of Bm get flack for not useing them and well thats just not right. I knwo some of you are just going to go "well they should just duel spec" but really why should they?

I want to use my favorite pet (Devilsaur) in my favorite spec (MM) :headbang:

BM needs a better end talent. C'mon, look what DM Warlocks get :!:

I'm glad Exotic pets have special colorations to them. Exotic pets are not so-called "ugly". Nor are they so-called "useless"! And I'm looking forward to when all the talkings gonna be about what Blizzard'll eventually reveal in a Cataclysm beta patch (when they do the "pet pass", duh). Pets abilities and such are definitely gonna be different, just like Cataclysm Hunters from Wrath of the Lich King Hunters.
