Cadan seemed to be a fairly laid-back fellow. He would often stand with his eyes sort of half-closed, as if he was only half-interested in the world around him. He kept pace with me easily enough, but was distracted by a lot of things and would often stop to inspect people or creatures we passed by. He seemed a little jerky on land; clearly he was more at home in the river I tamed him from.

As for some of the things we did --
I levelled him at my favorite pet levelling spot: the Valley of Ancient Winters in Storm Peaks. Little cold for a croc, I know. I took him through the Violet Hold, which seemed okay, although I had to disable a few of his abilities to keep him from over-aggroing the tank. I went to Outland with him for a bit, and we did a few quests in Shadowmoon Valley, not the least of which was the Crimson Watch Battle. He was well-equipped for this and easily made mincemeat of the forces of Illidan. The rest of the day was mostly uneventful; I considered doing a Baron run with him to try at the mount again, but my other duties today didn't allow me enough time to get it done.

His walking animation seemed a bit jerky, but other animations were fairly smooth, especially the swim. I don't really like the look of the crocolisks currently in the game, but I feel that once Cataclysm drops I would give one of the newer skins a shot as they are more to my taste. They seem like a fairly standard Tenacity pet, but they do have a fair bit of personality in their idle animations. I let him loose at the end of the day, but it was an interesting experience.

And that was that. I'd like another round if I could. Just to refresh:

Zerbebuth, Lv 80 Troll BM Hunter

Pets Owned:
White Lion (Echee), Green Old World Raptor, Black Worg Mount, White Gorilla (Uhk'loc), Ghost Jormungar, Tan Silithid, White Core Hound (Kurken), Leopard S-Beast (Loque), Red Devilsaur

I had the sapphire wasp from Sholazar and unfortunately, I can't do a very big report on it. I literally started getting a headache from its wing movements. It made my eyes hurt.

HOWEVER, I did use Hypnotize for a little while in the basin and one thing that immediately stood out to me was his beautiful coloration. The blues and purples and blacks blend together and are truly stunning. Aotona has similar colors, but they don't quite have the same appeal to me as this wasp did. I would love to see colors like that on some other creature someday. It's just that I can't handle having those big fluttering wings on my screen, it makes my head hurt.

He was doing really good damage, too, I noticed. :)

I apologize for not being able to write much more, I was unable to hold this pet for too long due to its animations. But it was a neat experience nonetheless. :D

Hehe, this is interesting. On Nani I only just tamed the Quillfang Skitterer, a green&purple ravager, I've always loved Warp Stalkers and Atalfon USED to have that particular skin for a pet, until she got the light blue one instead. XD I'm now getting all three of them before hitting the bed, and tomorrow I'll get into them more.

Atalfon's Scorpid seems to be a bit scared of her, seeing at it attempted to run away just as the tame finished.. *giggles*

I was assigned the red crab. My troll hunter, Venjin, has one of these guys so I'll make my report with my good buddy, Cake. :)

I unfortunately don't remember where I tamed Cake from. >_> There's red crabs available in a variety of levels so nothing anyone should have too much trouble finding. Cake surprised me with his adorable little crab animations. I had tamed him for PvP purposes and he quickly became my goto PvP buddy.

I leveled him through randoms, his damage, of course, being subpar as a tenacity pet. He made up for it in personality though. :D Back when Pin did damage, depending on your tank (in a random), I'd suggest taking it off autocast as it is a channeled snare. Crabs, like spiders, silithids, etc, do make great PvP pets, however, and he looks so cute keeping those pesky melee away from me. I also love his being tenacity for PvP so he can take a bit more of a beating.

Edit: I'd like another one please.

Ok so I took the challenge and got me a brown rhino...gotta say...I LOVE IT!

Tank lvl 80 eliete: I challenged Chillmaw and his cronies. Easily solo'ed!

Lvl a few times: Got him to 80 in 2 heroic runs.

Run a roic: He did ok.

Run a BG: I don't pvp

Check different lightings: Not much difference...

Check swimming: It wasn't the best animation I've seen. Its fun gettin the horn to stick out and pretend its a shark!

Final thoughts: This rhino, Busco, will now be a permanent member of my stables. He's a great tank...he's funny, and he's awesome!

I don't mean to complain, but I'd like a reroll on all three of my toons, please.

Cerah - a white plainstrider's just too easy for a lvl 80 beastmaster. I mean, there's a million of the things outside TB!

Toeph - I guess I could try, but it's going to be a royal pain in the ass getting back to Azuremyst as a lowbie, especially since the ghost ship option is now out. Considering we just went there on the lowbie safari last week (and nobody wanted the beige moths), I don't want to have to ask anyone for an escort either.

Leata - I already have Mazzarche on Toeph. I'd rather have different pets for different toons.

Lol no problem. Mind you, as far as the white plainstrider goes--that's the point of the thread! To tame things you normally wouldn't, and try them out.

If you want a reroll on 'em, could you please copy/paste your pet info for the three chars here? It's a pain sifting through that other thread and trying to eliminate; I honestly didn't see Mazzranache on the third char's list and cba risking it again.

No it's not a problem. Ryno and I already did the ghost run once to get his ravager and my moth, and we didn't encounter any trouble, so I'm sure it won't be a problem to get the ravager. :)

I had a ravager on Sara way back (named Crawleye as in "creepy crawly") so it'll be fun to see how it feels with a tauren. :)

Belated response is belated!
This is a transcript from Durana's personal journal, don't let her know I put it here. ;)
~

So, me long time aquatence signed me in fer this "Random Pet Challenge". Apparently, some lass looks at all the beasties out there in the mightly land of Azeroth, picks one, and sends ye off to go make friends with it. Almost sounds daft to me, what if ye're sent to tame some horrible spider who wants tae eat yer legs off? Or a sporebat? Dunno which'd be worse when I think about it.
Anyway, I'm drifting off topic as. My task was to try out a white turtle. Well, somehow this random pet lass must've known my weakness for turtles. A quick look in the old Petonomicon told me I could find 'em in Azshara. So, of I went. Upon landin', I went to go check out me old friend Azuregos. The Blue dragon was feeling a little faint, so I didn't stay long. I drifted off to the sea, where I saw wee turtle. Not the one I was looking for, but a plesant sight none the less.
Image
It's always good to see ol' Scalebeard up and about. Hope these recent tremors aren't disturbing him too much. I left him to his hunting.
After swimmin' the last part o' the channel I went up to the beach, ran along, knocked the stuffing out o' some elemental who thought he was all high and mighty, then went to find me soon to be turtle buddy. Sure enough, I found him roamin' the beaches by himself. I froze him, then started to convince him we were mates.
Image
He soon wandered to me side all friendly. And fer once, I knew what to call him. So, Boris the Turtle joined me for a brief stint across Azeroth. Before we left to see the world, we stayed behind on his beach fer a final sunset.
Image
Now, once Boris joined me, I had to wonder what to do with the blighter. I then remembered those fruity elves and tauren over by Zangarmarsh were still offerin' rewards fer Coilfang weapons. I'd been thinkin' of grabbin' me one of their beautiful Hippogryphs, so I decided to take Boris over to the Steamworks to go thump us some Naga bastards. Boris was completely taken by the mushroom forest, so we had tae take a quick break for him to "sniff the fungi" as it were.
Image
We eventually got out to the Steamworks, were we saw our quarry ahead. Boris surprised me in seeming rather eager to take the snakeheads down. Not that I think o' it, I souldn't be. Those Naga been holed up on Azshara fer a while now, maybe they killed some o' his kin?
Image
We went in there and dished out a load o' hurt on them snakeheads. Boris was more than eager to get into 'em. But I noticed somethin' seemed off. Seems like the snakey bastards would peel off Boris to attack me. Didn't have this much trouble with my other Turtle. I thought back, only to remeber I never tought Boris how to thunderstomp! Daft me!
Image
So, that essentially ended our Steamvault stint. We killed a few more of the buggers, but they eventually chased us out. We'll get 'em once I teach Boris how to shake the earth!
As for Boris himself, I can't say I don't like him. He's got a charm that only turtles have. So fer now, he's got a place in my stables. If he's ever got the urge to return back to his sunset drenched beach though, I'll let him leave without a fuss. 'Til then, it looks like Om has a new playmate.
~ Durana Sleetshot

In summary: I like him! Although I'll like him more when I go train him in thunderstomp. :\ He's got a place in my stables, although he'll be the first to go should I need the space for something else. (No offence to Boris, but Om is still the bestest turtle ever.) I think I'll hold off on more random pets until Cataclysm, where I'll abuse the hell out of this thread on my goblin. :D

Okay, I'll try the white plainstrider on Cerah. I'd like a reroll on the other two, if it's not too much trouble.

For future reference:

Cerah's pets

Toeph's pets

Leata's pets

For Toeph, I've already asked a lot of my fellow Petopians -- I don't want to overstay my welcome by asking for help with another escort, especially after we were just on Azuremyst last week.

For Leata, I'd just like to avoid duplicate pets. If I have one skin already on one toon, I don't want it on another (there's no point).

Thanks again!

Hahaha Moonlost, that was an excellent account!

Cerah, I disagree that there's no point in having the same pet - both my hunters have Clutchmother. They are very different creatures for each (though they share personality traits) and I have different attachment to the two.

By the same token, I look forward to taming the ravager on Aoani - it'll be different for her than it was for Sara and who knows, perhaps she'll keep it around when Sara didn't. ;)

Anyway, just my 2c.

Hyenas are an interesting pet family; they're similar to other Ferocity pets, especially wolves, but their models have some very different features that make them stand out.

I named this guy Rosheen and quickly took him around for a bit of quick testing. I used him for my Headless Horseman run today, and also took him through a couple heroics -- namely Gundrak and the Halls of Stone -- to get a feel for his personality and character as a pet. Afterwards we travelled around Outland for a bit, as I'm working on my BC-era reps.

I have to say, I really don't like hyenas very much. Maybe it's because I've been spoiled by prettier, newer pets, but their skins look unpolished and rough by comparison to alot of things I have in my stables. They share the skeleton and the animations with the "coyote" style wolves, but they just don't seem to have the same level of personality. In fact, because I recognize their aniations as the wolf ones, I feel it actually takes away from personality the family might have. Still, they are rarely seen at high levels on my server which gives them a bit of unique flair. The new version of the Tendon Rip ability seems like it would be useful, but as BM it seems to be less that required. I suppose it would be helpful in a raid group with Rogues and Warriors there to take advantage of it.

All in all, I found the hyena pet to be suboptimal for me. There are a large number of Ferocity pets I really like, but this one seems uninteresting and I feel it might be doomed to obscurity at high levels.

I'm going to work on some other pets I've tamed fora bit, but I'm enjoying this and will sign up for a new one in a little while.
