Well, I *did* say I like a challenge. :D It might take a while before I can locate him, depending on how long the spawn timer is. But I'll be getting shiny kitty ASAP!

Oooo! I've always been interested in taming a corehound, but never really had a reason. Plus now I have a valid reason to go visit Outlands again! (besides running SH over and over for the stupid mount XD )

Wow, this thread really got buried after the patch XD
I would have done this as a joural style entry, but I'm a little headachey and uncreative. Sorry. :(

Okay, so my lowbie huntress Tatten was set with the task of going out to her homeland of Gilneas and taming herself a Highlands fox. Not an easy task for a low level worgen! Still, half an hour and a few deaths later, I finally found myself standing in front of the shattered gates of Gilneas.
Image

From there, it didn't take me long to find my intended pet, padding about the moors with his peers. Due to his pale blue fur and unsettling pink/red eyes, along with the sombre mood of the area he was in, I named him Haunt. We shared a single moment at the cliffs of Gilneas before setting back to Stormwind.
Image

Model/Skin
I'm surprised by how striking this guy is, I initially wan't too keen on the model's colours initally, but running around, I've grown quite an appreciation for it. Haunt's name suits him well, as his fur and eye colour combination really feel eerie to me. I can see thsi guy working well with an undead theme. The only problem is that his light colour makes the few flaws the fox model has seem all the more apparent. For example, it seems like his back twistsand snaps when he runs, something I can't noticed before on the couple of foxes I have on my other hunters. But overall, not a bad looking pet.

Diet/Combat Prowess
Foxes have a very wide diet of meat, fish and fruit, which makes them pretty easy to take care of. I honestly had no trouble or need to buy food for Haunt to keep him happy. I can't speak too much about how well he fuctions in combat, PvE or PvP, as I'm too low level for my pet to start gainign it's talent points and family ability.

Overall
I'm surprised by how much I found myself enjoying this model, which was the least favourite of the fox skins. With that said though... Haunt jsut doesn't seem to have any personality to him, at least beside Tatten. He just feels like a light blue blob that attacks things. He's still got a spot in my stables, but I just haven't forged that connection to him.

I'd be willing for another one, if you have the time :)

Name: Tatten
Level: 16
Exotics: Alas not at the moment
Restrictions: None really :)

Finally I can reply and say that, yes! I did do my challenge! :D I had the blue dragonhawk! I got the roll and was like "Aw man. Another dragonhawk." But I sucked it up and headed off the Sunwell Plateau.

I got there was like lolz, ez mode BC raid. OH GOD I WAS WRONG. SO WRONG. I had my spirit beast out and was ready to light some baddies on fire. There was some robot construct guy and he had about 370k hp. This surprised me but Taio (Arcturis) and I dps'd him down with no problems. I saw the dragonhawk off in the distance and tossed a freezing trap under him and misdirected to Taio. Apparently I wasn't quick enough because, before I knew it, I was dead. I shrugged it off as me being dumb and tried again... Utter failure. At this point I'm like WTF? This shouldn't be so hard! I got out my beetle Rorschach and told all those mean mobs to beware! They laughed at me and hit me for 6k constantly and threw a TERRIBLE dot thing on me... I thought "I'm too smart to be outwitted by these guys! I'll just LOS them and bunch them up to aoe them! So smart..." Yeah. Well. Beware: these mobs are CHEATERS. I hit them and ran around a corner, giggling at my brilliance. Then I saw them coming at me THROUGH the wall. I quickly died. At this point I was REALLY mad! I mean seriously! I know this was a higher level raid but c'mon! Level 85 hunter with a level 85 pet!? I eventually said screw it and popped camo and ran past the mobs. I had dismissed my pet so when I was past them and to a safe distance I popped FD and stood back up. I got out my corehound, popped his super awesome ability, hit deterrence and then tame! I was taking heavy damage and with about 20k hp left I saw that I had completed the tame and proceeded to feign death. I was cackling maniacally and the next thing I knew I was dead... Some bastard had managed to hit me with that dot of death. I rezzed with my new pet and bandaged up my wounds... but not my pride...

Image
Here's the dragonhawk!

Image
Here's that evil pack of mobs [on the right, didn't aggro the ones on the left] that kicked my butt.

Image

Now I really do think this is a very pretty pet. It's very graceful and I love how it glides over to its target. It has smooth swimming animations. I can't really say anything about PvP or PvE that others haven't already said. It's special ability is a must for SV hunters, imo.

Image
Here's the 'hawk and me. While I do like how this pet looks, it's much too... soft... for my orc. This is how I see it: this dragonhawk is a pretty, petite woman who quietly sneezes into a tissue. My orc is some tough, green woman who sneezes VERY loudly into her hand, looks at it, sniffles and then wipes it on her pants. So yeah, not the greatest match! I'll be keeping it in the stables for a while at least. This was a pain in the butt for me to get so I'm not quite ready to let it go just yet! :P

Another pl0x?? <3

Well, Shorelfon hit level 20 yesterday. The crazy demon hunter had done a random pet challenge previously, being assigned one of the Southfury River crocolisks. Well, that crocolisk has since been replaced with Gosh-Haldir, but at least it's still a crocolisk. Since I was unable to do a report with their special ability taken into account previously (Ankle Crack), I'll go ahead and tack that on as an appendix to the original report.
_

Something about Charge and Ankle Crack is just pure win for a SV hunter with the pet tanking capacity of a chipmunk. I don't know why it's so different from Concussive Shot; maybe it's not having to worry about refreshing mid-Steady Shot. Perhaps it is more about enjoying that 1 second immobilize from Charge than it is not having to worry about Concussive Shot. Regardless, there was a huge difference once Nessy (my croc's new name) hit level 20 and started to use Charge and Ankle Crack.

If anyone is looking for a non-BM tanking pet, crocolisks come highly recommended. BM hunters have their pets latch on and grab aggro using Kill Command; the next best thing in my opinion is Ankle Crack.

Thanks guys for getting around to it so soon after the patch! I got all the new patch rares I wanted and I hope you got yours too!

And Cialbi thanks for adding that extra bit on about the crocolisk special ability. :)

New rolls:

Tatten
This one says its a rare for your level however I don't think its rare enough to even be in SilverDragon. It's respawn timer is like 30 minutes or less.

Hello.
This time, I've been assigned an Orange Raptor, but because of my eagerness for a challenge, I was asked to tame a specific NPC, Dart.
It went more smoothly than I imagined, especially considering the fact that he's located in a quest-heavy place.
But he was right there when I arrived.
Damn, he's fast.

Image

Image

I had to chase him for a minute before finally catching up to him to start to tame!
Meet TreacleFudge!

Image

We went questing in Tanaris.
I was a bit sad to ask TreacleFudge to kill trolls there. After all, SOMEONE put those beads and feathers on him, and I think it were the trolls.

Image

But as it turned out, he's VERY skilled at killing desert trolls.

Image

He wiped most of the village without me even noticing until it was time to loot.

We did Zul'Farrak together...

Image

We also camped Felwood for Olm the Wise.

Image

For about two hours. :(

Image

I've never had a raptor before. I always toyed with the idea of getting one but never got around to do it, for some reason.
Raptors are so cool!

Image

This particular Raptor looks quite striking, fluoroescent or what have you. Especially in Menethil Harbor light.

Image

I like the skin, I never have an issue of losing him, I can always see where he is. I like the stripes as well. Orange is not my favourite colour, but on this guy? It just FITS!
I'm slightly disappointed in the swimming animation however.

Image

It just looks exactly like his running animation, only in slow motion.

As for raptor as a pet itself...
He's awesome. I soloed Thunderdome with him by my side, even on this level, with only several talent points, he unleashes insane damage, must be his Tear Armor ability. I LOVE it! I'm never getting rid of this guy, EVER.
Thank you for assigning him to me, I love him!

May I have another go?
Pralinka's stable is still full, but.

Name: Bajaderka
Level: 49, but treat as 50, I'm about to ding.
Exotics: not yet, sorry.
Restrictions: Please, no spiders and no ninja-monkeys.
Still willing to do crazy stuff to get assigned pets! :D

All right, this report's going to be pretty brief and use a lot of copy/pasting since I tamed Uhk'loc as a challenge not too long ago.

I decided to go to Feralas to tame one of these brutes.
Image

This coloring is better looking than I thought it would be. It's not my favorite, but it looks nicer than expected; the black complements the red well. Gorillas are ugly brutes. To me they just seem to be built all sorts of weird. Their wrists pop out of their fur when they stand up to beat their chests, they have a huge beer belly that makes their back legs look tiny when they stand up, and overall they just seem kind of blocky and bleh.
Image
Image
Image

Turns out gorillas can smart cast pummel. Unlike other interrupt pets, they won't use pummel on every mob they come across, thereby wasting precious focus. Kind of a handy feature if you're like me and like to set it and forget about it. I even went and did my first 85 BG to test this guy out, knowing that in my shoddy gear I'd get steamrolled (eff you prot paladins). This guy was interrupting casters which was great, but he wasn't much help against the melee that were trying to eat my face off. I think once I get back into PvP, I'll start off with pets that can keep things away from me.

Oh, and it turns out gorillas aren't the only smart-interrupt casting pet. Moths can smart-cast their interrupt as well, and since I find moths a ton cuter, I will be using a moth for interrupts over a gorilla. :)

Another please.
Name: Vitani
Level: 85
Exotics: Yes
No more gorillas please. :)

@Tyger: My moth Atramedes must be a little lacking in brains. He doesn't so much 'smart cast' his cute little mini-arcane explosion as he does cast it the second he's sent after someone with a mana bar, regardless of if they're casting or not. It's only a minor irritant though, as it seemed to be more than enough to keep the holy pally attacking Undercity distracted long enough for us to burn her down. :P

I swear I posted my review of the serpent I was assigned, but I don't see it nor do I have thepet or screenshots/etc. saved anymore. :/ Booo.

How weird. I was messing around with it out in TH and it would only cast it if a caster was casting a spell. I'll be sure to retest it and make sure I didn't miss something. :)
