Yeah, the drop rate could do with some improving. Doesn't have to be guaranteed, but certainly not where it could take over 100 kills to get a single piece.

I threw the meat right on top of it (Duskcloak Panthara) and nothing happened. No buff. No tame

Well that was weird. I've no idea why our forums took a 20 minute break We seem to be back again now.

One thing I did was drop a trap *before* throwing the meat, so the fact the trap aggroed it is possibly why it failed for me. I'm trying to get more meat and so far failing. It's a brutal grind for it to fail

I'm at 479 fiendish leather (outside of my bank, so from the talbuks I've killed this morning). Each talbuk gives 2-3 leather. I've skinned no other beasts. Assuming 3 leather per talbuk, that's about 160 kills. And nothing. On top of the many many kills I've made before today.

It might be an Aggro problem, I had to feign death to reset the CD on the meat, so you might need to Freeze, feign, throw then tame.

The buff does not show, you just have to trust that you hit it.

After killing 66 Talbuks (Chitinous Cragscaler on Krokuun) I got 1 Fresh Talbuk Meat!! Imma get a few more before trying to tame one of the beautiful creatures!

Anyways, I've made well over 200 kills of talbuks today and no drop. I need to do irl stuff, so I'm out for now. Good luck to you all.

Having just tried the method, it doesn't seem to always work.

There was a small set of Pantharas that were BUGGED and didn't need the meat. Day one people got the pet that way. MAYBE there was a few exceptions, but most, if not all, tamed the bugged ones which were hotfixed yesterday.

I got one. I do believe it's a matter of aggro. Freeze, feign death, toss and tame. Worked like a charm! <3

[edit, so it doesn't look like I'm taking credit...I followed the method in Pokcmvmxckm's comment, and it worked!]

I also followed that method and it did not work. It looks like you have to be very precise with the meat in order for it to work.
