Oh, yeah. The only reason I :( at it is that it was less than a day since you'd posted and someone else was rolling. I don't mind if someone's taking over, but at least give the original person the chance IMO. :D But maybe that's just me. Plus, like you said: too confusing in the end if there's a bunch coming in!

It's too late to do one tonight, but I'll probably do mine tomorrow. :) I had a red corehound in the past (my Ruby) so for now, I'll go with the brown chimera. Besides, of all the old world chimera colors, the brown is probably my favorite. I've never had one (well, I had one for all of 5 minutes or so before I realized the breath was glitched) so it'll be neat to get one as a *real* pet for a while!

I think it's a bit rude to pick on someone for opting to assign rolls. As Kormai said, this was originally Slic's thread; Slic picked up where Ache left off. In the old thread, by the end of it, there were like 4 or 5 people assigning rolls. So long as you see your name and a picture and/or link of the pet you're supposed to tame, why does it matter in the end who gave the roll?

You could even roll pets for yourself if you really wanted. All it is is a /roll 1-37 for the pet families, and a /roll 1-x of how many skins there are in the family.

All right, reporting in on my pink squee spider.

I put Amethyst in the stable with a promise to come back and give her love and then went off to the portal to Deepholm. I saw on the website/wowhead that there's a pink one that isn't underground in the tunnels which made me a happy hunter. A short flight and an ice trap later and I have a pink squee spider. ^_^

Image

I love the shale spiders, I think they're adorable. I named this little guy Garnet, but he didn't evoke the same immediate attachment and 'aw' in me the way Amethyst did. However, I do like the pink color. I love how they change in different light settings and since they're made of rocks, they don't creep me out the way the actual spider pets do.

Along with great looks, I love the sounds and animations they have as well. I love the squee noise they make; I think it's great. :D I also love their simple little idle movements and the way they fight. Even specced as a damaging tank, Garnet has been holding aggro on my quest mobs without a misdirect (even before I remembered to spec him). Nothing fantastic, I know, but I'm incredibly wary of joining any sort of PuG in LFD after getting into a really horrid group.

They're pretty impressive little guys and I look forward to them getting their web wrap ability and speccing Amethyst for damage to PvP with her. ^_^

No problem. I just got a chuckle off the one you just rolled though. XD

I used to have Shango because I thought I would love his reskin because I love tigers, but dislike the old world cat models. Turns out many many other people thought the same thing and even before I noticed lots of people with him, I noticed I didn't really connect with him. Turns out Rak'Shiri's new skin has captured my heart. :D

I'll give a brief little report, but it probably won't have any pictures with it since I let this handsome guy go.

So, despite this guy not clicking with Vitani, I think he has a beautiful skin. I love tigers, and Tiger/Tyger has been my nickname since I got into MMOs. I love the mount models of cats as well. Shango's really become quite the handsome cat. :D

I like the cat noises and animations. To be honest, I've never noticed the slobber noise that comes with the cat "yawn," and I like the little yawn effect itself, so that doesn't bother me. For anyone it does bother, there's a thread somewhere detailing how to turn it off. ^_^

One thing that's kind of impressed me with Blizzard's remake of cats is that they tend to move in a fairly realistic motion. I love watching them walk and watching their shoulders glide properly. (I'm weird, I know. >_<) Most of their animations are pretty simplistic, but I think that's why I like them.

As I'm sure we all know by now, cats bring one of the most awesome buffs to the table if you don't have a DK, warrior (I think), or enhance shaman around. Roar of courage is amazing and has brought cats back into usefulness which makes me a happy hunter. :headbang:

I, unfortunately, couldn't find a screenie of Vitani with Shango, so I offer this one of her and Rak'Shiri (who is now named Rufus) instead.

Well, I have a blue jormungar, why not try a green one?
I'll do this challenge later when I'm not half asleep and have time to put into it. I've been kind of loath to use a worm knowing that their AoE drops aggro.

Same here, I never notice any slobber sounding noise, just a yawn, so it's never bothered me.

Alrighty, I was assigned a grey hyena.

Image

The common ones are found in Blasted Lands, so I popped through the portal in the Mage District of Stormwind. Upon landing, I found there was a little traffic...

Image

...but otherwise finding and getting to the target hyenas was easy - they're all over the place.

I picked one out and started taming. To my surprise, these guys charge and knock you back! I was not expecting that. But he had charged right into my ice trap, and I could easily resume my tame.

Image

Hyena aquired. I named him Bonesnap.

Image

So, being a hyena, he has that ability to increase bleed damage, which rogues and druids and any other class who bleeds their targets would enjoy. This is definitely a pet that buffs certain members in your party/raid, but not yourself. Their damage is nice, since they're Ferocity pets.

I do like some aspects of their appearance. They share animations with the lean wolf and fox models - they sniff the ground, howl and scratch themselves behind the ear. Their tails are stubby and cute, and I love their round ears. I personally prefer how hyenas looked back before they gave them such a hunched posture (they carried their heads higher before the Wrath expansion), but the new stance does make them look fiercer.

And then there's this...

Image

They have this funny thing going on with their chest. It's only really noticeable when they sit back and scratch.

Well, I took Bonesnap out to Twilight Highlands to help me level my cooking a bit.

Image

I really can't complain about his performance. Things died quickly and everything went without a hitch.

Image

I do have a hyena in my stable. However, I don't use him much, as I haven't really started to instance yet. Bonesnap was a neat coloration, and would look really nifty next to an undead hunter. But he and I really didn't connect. Think I'll stick with my red one.

------------------

And I'd like to go again!

My report on the Purple Beetle (Warning: Kind of image heavy.)

Well, I never tamed any of the beetles before, so I was looking forward to trying something new! I made my way to Tanaris to tame the "Centipaar Tunneler" there (one of the purple beetle's variations in-game). I found one and made the tame!

Image

Then, with some help from my boyfriend, I named him Bugsy, and we were on our way.

Image

I decided to do some archaeology around the area, with Bugsy accompanying me of course ;)

Image

While he was following me around, he constantly made a skittering noise as he moved around, which I found fitting for what he is, but I could see the noise possibly getting on your nerves after awhile. He also was doing this quick looking around idle animation, which made him look nervous, but again seemed fitting for a bug. I tried swimming with him, and was saddened to see he didn't have a special swimming animation, he just looked to be running underwater as if he was still on land.

After I got bored with archaeology (Which didn't take too long, lol!) I decided to give Bugsy a shot at fighting some mobs. I decided to head out to the Twilight Highlands, and, seeing as he's a tenacity pet, had him try tanking groups of 2 or more mobs at a time to see how it worked out. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at how well he kept aggro, considering that he was only lvl 82, and I'm lvl 85, and we were fighting mobs around lvl 85. I was using multi-shot and everything, and had him fighting 3 guys at once at one point, and not once did he lose their attention. Now, mind you, I'm not the best hunter out there, and my dps tends to suck anyway, but Bugsy aka purple beetle still seemed to be a very viable tanking pet!

Image

Although I was surprised by his usefulness in the end, I, personally, still think I'm going to release him back into the wild. His appearance, for a beetle, is very plain looking, and I just didn't feel that much of a connection with him. Maybe he'll make another hunter a lot happier! If it's ok, I'll give that red dragonhawk a try next that Kormai gave me the option of. I'm hoping I'll find a new pet that'll really click with me by doing these! :D

Also, I just want to apologize to Lupis, and anyone else that I may have offended. I didn't know that it was ok for others to roll besides Kormai on this thread. Thank you, Lupis, for the purple beetle, it was fun doing that! And from now on, if I ask to go again, I'll take whatever anyone posts for me to take! Very sorry again, and I hope there are no hard feelings!

Ah, the brown chimera! Long ago, this lovely creature attracted my eye, so when I saw I had the chance to actually try it out, I figured 'Why the heck not?' I've been playing around the PTR, so I figured it would be something I could do while waiting for the newest build. And something I could do without having to feel bad for not raiding. ;) So, since there's only one place to find this skin now, it was down to Azshara to do some hunting the cliffs.

Image

After a couple feedings of roast beef to cheer him up, my new chimera was ready for inspection. I moved to Hyjal to do it, since I knew I'd come here for a few things anyhow.

Image

First off, as usual, I give my view of just how they look. And as mentioned before, of all the chimera, this was my favorite skin by *far*. I say 'was' because I haven't compared it to the cream skin, though I still think it may end up winning even there. It's very 'natural' looking to me, and between the color and the familiar 'vanilla chimera' skin, I absolutely adore just how this guy looks!

Image

For utility, I threw together a quick DPS build and went to down on some of the local Hyjal 'wildlife'. The slow is, I find, not as handy for pulling a sa venom spit (as you have to wait all that much longer for them to get there), but it *is* quite nice when used by the pet as it 'tanks'. Plus, a 5 second slow and a 7 second CD (when fully talented) means that the slowing effect is all but constantly up.

Froststorm breath was also tested, naturally. I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with what I see of it! For one, it is no longer on the GCD (if it ever was before), meaning that you can have it up whenever you need. Secondly, they can move while it's being cast, as long as they are not actively attacking or doing something else. And thirdly, not only was it doing 2k per tick, but the breath attack *can* crit, meaning that there were more than a few 4k whacks in the channel. All in all, very pleasing, and I consider it extremely useful for later!

I am somewhat disinclined t odrop The razza ,simply because of the memories that he offers. However, when it comes to pure looks, I have to say that this pretty brown wins solidly. I'm going to have to think about it pretty hard, as I may very well consider making him a keeper! And even if I don't, having tested the breath out on the PTR, I'm extremely satisfied with how useful the chimera will be for a Beast Master AOE.

Now, off to see just how good one of those tan fellows looks with me...

So, would you be willing to go a little extra distance and roll a low level pet? I'm playing around with leveling a worgen hunter, and would love to get a suggestion for a pet. :) I can do another random for Kurasu later; for now, I wanna get a little done with my wuffie.

Aloicious
Level: 20 (with how fast leveling is, I could probably handle a little higher, but 20 or below is ideal for right now)
Exotics: Nope (way too low level)
Restrictions: None! If you get something in Horde territory, I'll just consider it a challenge. It might just take extra time. :)

Hmm, managed to bring my stable down to 24 beasts (which is an amazing feat for me), and would be willing to tame another beast. It would have to be temporary, as I am hoping to get Karoma at some point.

Cialbi
1-85
Exotics are doable
Restrictions: No WotLK or Cata rares, please. The exception would be Arcturis, as I already have her tamed and thus would be able to do a report with ease :)

Oh, and schoolwork will probably keep me quite busy until about Thursday or Friday, so I won't be doing this immediatey :|

You do realize that you're now going to have to do something like taming an Armored Battleboar from the Tauren starting area, right?
