Oh, this was a LOT of fun! I had the day off, and so I got the info early on that I was to tame Image. I've been hunting for that elusive lime green one for a while now, on and off, so trying the white one appealed to me.

And so, I soon found my way to Un'Goro, only to find that unlike the day before, when I had flown over and seen two of the buggers, there were no white ones in the whole darn area. I saw the black one, the brown one, and even ran into King Mosh (who found a home with a very nice Taurean hunter who apparently had been hunting for that exact one for a while) but not a white one to be found. And so, I calmly offed the ones wandering about, with the exception of Mosh, hoping a white one would spawn... and so one did!

At 85, the tame was easy, and one HS later, we were back in Orgrimar. I decided she was a lady and since she was a white devilsaur, she was named Pristine -- Prissy for short. Together we did the cooking daily, the fishing daily, and then took a trip to Deepholm and did the dailies there. I took a lovely screenshot of her preening proudly after defending us both valiantly throughout:
Image

After that, Pris still was eager to play, and so we went and did my daily attempt to get the mount and phoenix pet from MgT, and we had a grand 20 minutes or so doing that-- no mount, no pet, but it was still fun! I logged after that, but Pris is standing there eager to see what we'll be doing tomorrow...

And now, answering some of the things I've seen mentioned in these reports:
- Model: I remember distinctly DISLIKING these critters when they were first made tamable; the stomping just plain got on my nerves. Hence, I never really LOOKED at them. I know, I know, they are huge lizards with sharp teeth and they should be really as terrifying as I found them back when I was a lower level questing in Un'Goro-- but so help me, Pris reminds me of nothing more than a huge great dane, bounding along at Arisia's side, wagging her tail happily and really LOVING working with her master! I keep hearing her saying "LOOK MOM! LOOK-- I ate him GOOD for you, didn't I? Huh? Huh? Do I get a treat now, huh?" ::giggling:: You just want to pat her on the head and give her a nice biiiiig bone!

- Skin: She is LOVELY; the shading of the white reminds me of mother of pearl, actually and the lavender, lilac and purple of her markings are striking and yet aren't gaudy. The white devilsaur always reminded me of marshmallow before, but now I think of violets or purple crocus in the snow.

- Animations: I really want her to wag her tail more, and maybe shake her head better, but the ones they've given her work for the RAR! Dinosaur! type. ::grin:: The only thing I have not done is swim with her-- remiss on my part, but we never really hit water deep enough for her to swim within.

- Sound effects: Now that they do not stomp, I love them! The growling roar as she attacks reinforces the whole guard dog image to me, and her random RAWR!!! make me smile. It's one of those "Look at me! Look at me! I'm big and mean and going to eat you, yes I am -- so throw the ball, please mom? ThrowitThrowitThrowit!!!!!"

- Food requirements: She only needed to be fed at the start, and as you might think for a T-Rex, she likes meat. I've got her specced to basically self feed as she fights, and haven't had to toss her anything else today.

- Tanking ability: Pris held aggro nicely, and did good damage; I'm interested in seeing how she does at 85, to see if she ramps as she levels.

- Pet family abilities: I've found both Monstrous Bite and Terrifying Roar useful in my travels today; tomorrow we'll be killing all over the place, and I am going to enjoy watching my puppy-lizard ravage all sorts of people and critters!

And although I did not intend it... um, I'm keeping her. LOL She is just so darn sweet that I can't see releasing her!

I'd like to do this again--
Arisia
level 85
no instance pets and no bugs, please!

I recently discovered that devilsaurs have the most hilarious swim animation, so I highly recommend you take yours swimming!

I'll get my challenge done soon, I swear!

Tyger: I had totally intended to tell you to tame the Stranglethorn Vale spirit rare thing, but oh well.

Arisia: Yay! It makes me so happy when people fall in love with the random pets! I too hadn't really looked at Devilsuars seriously as pets until recently. I realized that as a Beastmaster I really ought to have at least the more PvE useful exotics.

Still organizing my room...almost done watching The Tudors :O

Well I spent half an hour typing out a roleplay story of how i created my initial bond with Mahamba but my internet crashed and i couldnt recover it. So. Fak. Im pretty annoyed about it so im gonna make it simple now.

Name: Mahamba
Pet Name: Courage
Race: Crocolisk
Talent Tree: Tenacity

Personality: Very quiet, always watching, doesnt move around a lot, he just sits there and looks handsome. Loves bears (if they've been eating fish) and of course, fish in general for eating. He really loves shallow water and hiding in long thick aquatic plant life. Hes EXTREMELY protective of me, doesnt let an aggressive mob anywhere near me without ripping its face off.

Did we bond?: We bonded very much,. Very very very much. I even tamed a 2nd one to be specced into DPS talents.
Uses: Very good tank pet, catches aggro very quickly. The Ankle Snap ability is very useful seeing as theres a lotta dungeons nowadays that are more along the lines of 80% caster, 20% melee

4 pics in one
4 more pics in one
Stranglethorn Vale, Mahamba and I after bonding
Vengence Landing in the Howling Fjord
Courage and I having fun underwater in Drak'tharon Keep
Courage hiding comfortable in some aquatic plant life in Drak'tharon Keep

I would like to try again pls :3

Name: Xakaal
Lvl: 1-75
Exotics: Sure
Restrictions: No dungeon pets, gorillas, silithids, monkeys, dogs, worms (unless you roll a fuzzy jormungar style-- i cant bring myself to tame Rattlebore incase we dont click but hes just so baddass looking lol..), no pets that have a 4hour+ spawn timer

This isn't torture, this is fun for me. :)
And yeah, no worries I can do a report on the White Gorilla too, I tamed him yesterday, never had a gorilla before and was eager to try him between challenges, but I might as well do a double :D
Since I just tamed Slaverjaw for the challenge.

K, so this will probably be my last challenge. I'm on the Karoma hunt (which will be my last stable slot) and I got a good lead tonight for her. :)

Anyway,Image this time.
Image

Normally I really dislike the green core hound skins, but this guy actually looks really cool with his orangey-yellow flames and drool. I like the original core hound skins as well. The skin over all looks good, a nice green color with darker green sort of armor looking parts. It's a little low res, but definitely not as ugly of a pet as I first thought.
Image

I really like the yellow flames and drool, it gives a really nice contrast to the green of his skin.

Animations wise, I like core hounds. They're pretty stable by your side, and every now and then they'll rear back and howl.
Image

If you like quiet pets, this model of core hound is not for you. These flaming guys have a constant burning sound in the background. The further you zoom out, the quieter it gets, and thankfully it's no longer coupled with the boom boom walk noise. Fighting wise, these guys aren't nearly as noisy as a fox, per say. They roar and that's about it.

As for specials, core hounds are solid. They slow casting speed and also provide Ancient Hysteria, a big win for any group that doesn't have a shaman or 85 mage. Ancient Hysteria has also been properly fixed to affect pets now as well. :)
Image

Overall, core hounds are really great pets (Chrom isn't really a quiet alternative to these guys either; he lacks the burning, but in combat he's loud as hell). They put out great damage and they provide some very useful abilities. I won't be keeping this guy as Vitani already has Chromaggus and I need the stable slot for Karoma, but I will consider picking this guy up on an alt sometime.

Xakaal: Half the time when writing up the rolls I hit the browser back button on my mouse and lose the whole thing including rolls. :( It sucks...I understand.

Loethlin: You don't have to do any extra, I was just joking. And I know its not torture for you hahaha. I aim to please!

Tyger: Awww you need another hunter alt! Hahaha! But thank you so much for all your contributions here and helping me when they were piling up. Do come and visit :D

I wonder, does anyone read this?

I will continue to read the thread and its reviews. :)
When I get around to working on my baby goblin hunter on Nesingwary, I'll probably start using her for these.

It's Name, Level, Exotics (yes/no) and Restrictions :)
Race or whatever Quel'Dorie is supposed to be doesn't apply. :)

Well, the only nitpick I can think of is that you really need to tell Kormai what level your hunter is. Giving the hunched tiger as a challenge for a level 30 isn't such a good idea when you consider that the only hunched tigers that can be tamed are all level 85.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

^Pogeyan is lvl 28 and only has a 4 hour spawn timer so hunched cats are on the random list unless the person has said they dont want rares or cats (this is if 'tiger' is being used for all hunched cats in general or if your talking about the tol'vir tigers)

This is a quickie... Flesh colored moths with green wings arent very appealing-- in fact the opposite but i knew the /petabandon macro and reading the threads about it, its pretty obvious blizzard is turning a blind eye to the harmless ones and only fixing the ones with damage buffs so i use it on my moth. She reminds me of the refreshing taste of spearmint so i named her Mint.

She kept aggro well, we did a few quests successfully together, we entered a dungeon and her abilities are quite useful in there. She stops spellcasting and her talent Swoop stuns the target which i like but... one of the spellbinders didnt take to kindly to having her spells stunlocked and outright enrage-killed Mint (she didnt have growl on, tank forgot to use DnD so that was probably the cause) and i ressurected Mint only to have her that horrible fleshy & green color.....

It wasnt clicking from the beginning and if i hadnt tamed her with the appearence buff it still wouldnt of clicked... the fact she loses it when she dies saddened me so i took her up to the Fern Feeder Moths and spent a little bit of time with her before letting her free. The last screenshot i took of her really touched me, made me feel like i did the right thing. She found a friend who was extremely happy to meet her :) its such a better place then flying around in a tainted thicket of corpses...

Name: Mint
Race: Moth
DPS: Good, very good, great for pvp and dungeons
Tank: Solo maybe, dont fight more then two or three at once tho.... specially if you arent well geared
Personality: Just calmly flapped her wings in place. Didnt much care for me, was slow to react if i was attacked but when one of her movement buffs were up she'd be there in a millisecond. Didnt abuse her buffs either which is good.

What we look like together :)
Questing
Violet Hold
Lost her aura :(
Our last farewell (hehe i should of played the song to match)
Her new best friend

Despite our breif time together I might go tame the white or grey moth to see if i bond with them... i love those colors and Moths are underestimated for sure! They are quite an amazing pet especially for PvP purposes (i dont pvp however)

Xakaal
lvl 1-76
Yea exotics are fine
No dungeon pets, silithids, monkeys, gorillas, worms (if you roll a worm and it comes out a jormungar i'll def take it :3), pets with a 4hour+ timer
