Gah! Savage!!!
.....
I do not think Savage likes me. I camp his spot and run up and down his trail (every 30min~hour) but he won't spawn!! I've only seen his tracks once, but I let another hunter tame Savage.

It was the same with me for a long, long time. Finally last night, I got a rush of motivation (AKA way too much coffee way too late at night :p) and went after both of the Jade forest tames successfully.
Glimmer was actually a pain in the butt. I'd follow it to what I assume was the end of it's path, flare, miss, and turn around to notice the tracks were overlapping eachother for the last 5 minutes and I was too sleepy to notice. Good times.

I had the weirdest dream last night. I went to try to find Savage, but I found Glimmer instead... I wish I could help you guys with info and the like, but I'm trying to avoid Beta to keep things fresh.

Going for server first hunter and the like, so the more 'rested' I am, the better.

Actually the world first 85, in attition to the nasty 'tactice' of having his guild kill ALL THE THINGS for him, also played beta extensively so he knew exactly where to go for what quest and didn't spend any time figuring it out (or even reading quest text/watching cut scenes, sometimes).

Yeah if you want server first you h ave to more or less follow the quests to a T on the beta so you have your "I know what to do" deal ready to go.
Something I'll never do. XD And seeing as we're on the same server, I know there's a lot of competition! good luck.

*wrinkles her nose* Hey, if nothing else, I'll get prime spot in gearing up. Succeed or fail, I'd rather try than not at all. The last time I tried was when WotLK came out. I started at 11 am the next day on MG and I was only a level behind the other DK playing. Then I got hacked and lost it. But I won't have any inspiration to do it if I have the questing route memorized. Won't get world first, but if the Alliance and Horde just gank each other, I should be fine to escape and level as I please. Especially with the faction ration being in my favor to 3:1. Once I get past the fluster cluck of the first questing hubs, it gets really quiet. I like the quiet.

Yeah that's my one qualm with Arthas, It used to be alliance heavy by far then everyone swapped to horde. I wish some hordies would suck it up and switch over to make things more fun. x:

Eh. I'm a Horde player. Plus it's where most of the raiding guilds seem to be (just joined Every Villain is Lemons) and I'm a raider above all else. Apparently, in general, the faction balance favors Alliance more than Horde due to Every Man for Himself being OP in PvP. I almost went Ally side on Arthas though! But the guild I was gonna join just like. Died. xD I don't even know what the guild was called.

My video on Glimmer is now up - enjoy!
Patrannache will be next week and if I keep up the pace, I should be able to squeeze in Bloodtooth as well.
And to copy this over from the comments on the Savage video:
azrahoth wrote:I can't remember my Petopian name (it's been years, haha) so I'll just post this here: I just got done tracking his path from south to north and it took him around 35 minutes (1:14 to 1:50 iirc, super tired now), not sure if that's been nailed down or not.
That sounds correct to me!

So while editing the Patrannache video, I noticed something in two identical shots of one of his tracks:

The later shot of the track is
darker. Could it be that older tracks grow darker before they fade after five minutes? It sure looks that way, according to my evidence. That's a really cool touch!

Kalliope, your series of videos is absolutely amazing, and I really appreciate your work. Although I would like rare-hunting to be mostly a surprise, I want to be realm-first for Savage and/or Glimmer, and I want to know possible start points (I won't look at the entire path point, just his general range that I can look in.)
Now that I know that Glimmer is the only "fading" waterstrider, I may get him after all...
On a different, now I have an issue: I like all of these waterstriders:
Black/Green Outland Model
Cyan Pandaria Model
Orange Pandaria Model
Red Pandaria Model??

As of the 8/16/12 beta patch, stealthed pets still use the elite gold dragon and drop tracks backwards. Tested on Stompy, I assume the same for all.
Kal, I also tested the older track may darken idea with stompy. This is what I found (this was done approx 7:30pm server). Please ignore awful formatting lol
I didn't seem to see it much in Stompy's. Maybe this is just another way Pat has to stand out from the rest

Thanks for checking!

Maybe it is just Pat.

Makes me wonder about others though, because your screenshots were definitely not the same lightness.

As of the 16004 patch...
The tracks are still laid backwards and the stealthed mobs are still golden dragons instead of silver. The dragon icon really isn't here nor there for me, but the backwards tracks drives me bananas

Well, imagine how it must feel to have your feet on backwards, I guess... That's a bit boggling.
