Every Friday night we have family movie night. Tonight we watched the HTTYD for the first time (well for the husband and I) the kids had seen it with their grandparents when it came out. It was quite enjoyable and fun. Guess we may have to see the second one now.

I saw HTTYD2 again yesterday. Almost in tears yet again. Damned good movie, I'll never get over how amazing it is. Especially that first scene with Hiccup and Toothless. ♥

Watched Captain America 2 at a friend's house. I really enjoyed it even though I didn't expect to- Superhero movies generally aren't my thing.

I finally watched Ender's Game. I was amazed to see the bug species in there reminded me of the Zerg or the Nerubians. I mean. Everything looked EXACTLY like them. Great movie though

I had mates over on Sat for drinks. They came around 11ish? So we watched some tv and the Lego movie and Snakes of a place. Good times.

It's been 3 days and that Lego song is still in my head XD

Just saw HTTYD2 tonight.. For the third time. :D I love that movie so much. There's so many details I keep noticing the more I see it, too!

Now I'm just rocking out to the soundtrack, because THIS MOVIE'S SOUNDTRACK IS GORGEOUS.

Why cross that last part out? o.o The movie's soundtrack is AMAZING. I especially love the song that Hiccup and Toothless fly to at the start. It just suits so well, especially mixed with the theme. ♥

Because I'm silly. XD

But yeah, the soundtrack is gorgeous! I've been listening to it pretty much non-stop since I found the entire soundtrack on Youtube. I think my favourite part of the soundtrack is the one that plays when Hiccup and Valka go flying with all the dragons. That particular track is so pretty! <3

I really loved Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It was sort of "james bond on steroids". I'm going bonkers waiting for the DVD to come out.

I have to drive into the city tomorrow for a short doctor's appointment, which means I'm tuck in town all day, which in turn means "I get to go to the movies" day.

The only problem is, most of the movies I'd really like to see are either no longer playing, or haven't started yet. Sadly, I THINK I'll be stuck going to see Transformers.... Since it's cheapy Tuesday (films are half price in pretty much every cinema on Tuesdays here) I don't mind QUITE as much.

Tuesday movies are cheap here too XD And seeing as it is Tuesday I went to the movies!

HTTYD2 was average I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. The story felt like too stories mashed together or some sort of fanfiction. I thought Drago Bludvist was underused. They built him up so much as a total nutter and when he showed up he kind of was just "generic cartoon villain" which I found to be a total bummer.

I dunno I was kind of disappointed I think.

With the big dragon I'd of liked to of seen it fight the big one from the first one XD

Thor: The Dark World was the last movie my fiance and I watched. We've been catching up on all our Marvel stuff we've missed out on.

On a side note, we saw HTTYD 2 on release day... holy hell, I didn't just cry, I freaking bawled. The unattractive type of bawling, too, with tears and snot everywhere. >.> It was The Lion King all over for me again! I still can't watch that damn movie without crying! Aside from that, though, we walked out completely loving HTTYD 2. I wish we could have seen it in Imax 3D, but our budget definitely didn't allow for that. :/

Patema inverted. A very neat animated film with a crazy concept about a girl going to the "surface world" where the gravity is different so instead of walking on the ground shes upside down and would float up into the sky if she did not hold onto things.

It's crazy and it's very well done.

I saw the new Planet of the Apes movie yesterday.
For me, it's definitely the best film of the year. It absolutely deserves a nomination as "best film" at the Oscars.
The SXF were great, obviously (there's rarely any excuse for bad effects), but the film, the acting, the story.. WOW.
It didn't hurt that the score was amazing, the acting was absolutely top notch, and that the cinematography was stunning.

Just the 3-4 minute long intro before the opening credits had me choked up.

It's a rollercoaster ride, sweet, sad, angry.. and an allegory about pointless hatred and war.

I highly recommend it. It's surprisingly different from the last PotA movie (Dawn? of the Planet of the Apes).

It's really that good huh? I saw some adverts for it on TV and thought it looked pretty silly, I couldn't get into the PotA films. I saw the last one and it was 'meh' at best for me. I have a friend who also tells me she loved it and that for her the CGI was the best part, that it's absolutely top notch. Might be one I'll have to watch when I'm back at my place near the cinema next week!

Snowy, if you don't like sci-fi to start with, then it might not be the film for you.
I liked the first PotA film, I didn't go totally nuts over it, but I really liked it. And yet I don't think there's even a comparison between the first film and this one. It's on an order of magnitude.

As for the CGI, it takes about 10 seconds and you completely forget you're watching the most amazing special effects ever done for a film. The apes are REAL in the film, they're actual individual characters, with personalities, and lives... I think this is part of what makes the film such a moving experience. They have motivations, all of them different. They have depth, and a history of experience.

It's all extremely well-written.
