Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd. Not sure I'm enamoured, Hardy and I have always had a troublesome relationship.

Game of Thrones, finished all the books but I'm re-reading (on book 3).

Started Les Miserables, which is surprisingly good, if ridiculously lengthy.

Also picked up e-samples of Wheel of Time and Life of Pi...I think I want the actual books for Wheel of Time instead of the e-book. I'm sure I can pick up a used set for cheap! Can't wait for the Life of Pi movie tho, Ang Lee ftw!

Death of a Salesman. I absolutely HATE this play. Willy Loman is by far my least favorite character to ever walk the fictional world; he ruined the entire play. I can't even read it anymore, I hate him so thoroughly.

Oh me too, I've had to read it about 4-5 times now. Between High School and College and it SUCKS.

Zoo City, by Lauren Beukes. Thought it might have a lot of appeal for Petopians, with animal familiars that grant psychic powers.

Also, The King of Elfland's Daughter and The Engines of God.

Edit: Disappointed with Zoo City. Ended up being more of a silly crime novel.

Väinö Linna's Täällä Pohjantähden alla (Under the North Star), which I have read before. I read it first about six years ago, forcing myself to pick it up because I have never been a fan of Linna's more famous work Tuntematon Sotilas. I've been meaning to read it again for years, but didn't get round to it until now. It is even better than I remember, and is a very poignant work on the Finnish Civil War told from the "red" perspective, and of the Winter and Continuation Wars. It has had a profound effect on my interest in my nation's history (and broke some long-held prejudices, as I come from a "white" family), and I even named my son after one of the characters. :)

I have heard that the translation to English is poor, and I've never been able to find it in shops, but it's a book I recommend to all who might be interested in the Finnish psyche, history and culture.

A Memory of Light - by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson. The very last Wheel of Time book, ever.

I'm so frustrated I have to wait until it gets released in pocket size. Why can't they release both sizes at the same time? I refuse to have one oversized book on the shelf, even though I really, really, really want to read the ending. I've only been waiting some 15 years for this...

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Not amazing and eye-opening, but a fun little romance and it has some really neat aspects. I really, really hope the sequel comes out soon, the end was frustrating as fel!

I read Arthas and found it...serviceable, but then I never was that interested in the Arthas storyline. The other half bought the e-book of Tides of War and liked it, so I may start on that this week.

Will also start reading State of Decay by James Knapp for my book club.

I've heard it's a good play, but I haven't read it yet. Have you read Davalos' Wittenberg? There's a production going on here right now.

I haven't, though it sounds neat, I'll have to check it out. And I highly recommend R&G are Dead, though you may want to read Hamlet beforehand (for the first time or as a refresher).
