I've been feeling rather nostalgic lately and decided to revisit some favorites from my childhood: Animal Farm by George Orwell and the short story of All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury. Animal Farm also included Orwell's 1984 which I've never read before so I'm looking forward to seeing how that turns out!
I also picked myself up the collective works of both Hans Christian Andersen and Edgar Allan Poe just for fun.

In the middle of Steampunk II, a collection of short stories.
Started McDevitt's Omega, as it was recommended to me after reading Engines of God, but I think I want to go back and read Chindi first.
Finished Changing the World, a Valdemar short story collection. Fast read, but it's been a while since I've read any of those books, so I was a little fuzzy on some details (and in one case, I think some of the characters were from novels I never read). My favorite novels were the Oath books (Tarma and Kethry) and the Gryphon books, but the herald stuff hasn't aged well for me, and most of this short story collection was about Companions.

Saw a recommendation of
The book of Barely Imagined Beings from Scientific American and thought I'd pass it on here, as we have a lot of people who'd like it, I think.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I have a slight fondness for stories written specifically for young adults ... even though I am no longer one myself (34).
I've been researching for new material to read and have heard good things about The Infernal Devices Series: Clockwork Angel; Clockwork Prince; and Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. I was just wondering if anyone here could share their own opinion on these books and whether they'd be something I should invest in.
I've also heard good things about The Everafter by Amy Huntley. Again, if anyone here has an opinion on this book, I'd like to hear it.

Finished the following stories ...
Unwind by Neal Shusterman. I fell in love with this book! I highly recommend it for anyone who loves The Hunger Games trilogy.
I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. I enjoyed it. I was expecting more from the end though.
The Everafter by Amy Huntley. It was alright. Not one of my all-time favorites but it did present a good and constant mystery throughout.
Currently reading ...
Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Recently finished "REAMDE" by Neal Stephenson. Felt like he's taken a few cool (geeky) ideas, and then rammed a bad James Bond story through them. I don't think I'll read any more of his.
Currently reading "The Passage" by Justin Cronin. Not sure what the genre really should be classified as yet, but it's certainly managed to invoke a very creepy feeling of subtle wrongness, so it will be interesting to see where it goes.

I decided not to read that one simply because I found the title annoying

I enjoyed his Anathem well enough, have you read that one?

No, the last one I read was Snow Crash. Which, looking back at it, was a few rather cool (geeky) ideas, with one whopper of a bad action jammed through it. I'm sensing a pattern here!

I think I tried to start Snow Crash--wasn't that the one that started off with some Mafia pizza delivery guy?
Anathem takes place on a world where all the scholars live in a monastic-like environment, which I thought was a fun idea. It was annoying how many alternate terms he used. For example, Fraa instead of Brother.
