Re: Rant Thread
In about an hour I will 'get' to spend time with my significant other's family. I am not looking forward to this.
Four years back, when we suddenly found ourselves with a pair of infant sons to care for (the reasons why they were left in the hands of a couple wholly unprepared for them are many and complex) it was decided that I, having more patience, would stay at home and raise them until such time as they were ready for school. Being a writer, I would find some meager employment to do from home (which I did, but it, with the economy, has since dried up).
I learned recently that my SO's family has taken this to mean that I am a lazy, parasitic waste of flesh that is forcing him to work horrendous hours (it's a standard forty hour a week desk job) while I sit on my ass and play video games (I generally spend my time chasing toddlers and reading articles on how to deal with tantrums, picky eating and potty training).
It's...frustrating. I gave up a career as a teacher to make sure they were raised in the best way possible for their situation. I gave up my social life so that I could be here for them. I learned to cook. I started doing housework (as a boy I had insisted that I would be rich and have a maid to do it). I've changed diapers, lost sleep to hold a vomiting child, been covered in all manner of unmentionable things...and now I'm being told that all of that was just me 'avoiding work'? Being lazy?
Sorry...just...not really happy to have to deal with them right now.

Re: Rant Thread
I completely understand. Just because I am a stay at home mom does not mean that I sit on my arse playing video games and watching tv relaxing all day. It is no-where near that at all!!! My daughter is 1.5yrs old and is very active getting into everything, climbing on everything and just full of endless energy that I bearly get any down time at all!! And still have the house to maintain! I dont have a social life asides from the little time I get on WoW, and when the hubby comes home...I still dont get a break because HE's tired and worn out from work and "needs" to relaxe...because appearently I get to much relaxing time during the day while he's out, so I dont need any when he's home...
Being a stay at home parent is a thankless job. But I hope that seeing my kid grow up right will make it all worth it!

Silent as night, silent as death, silent as your last breath

You know how you think you're doing a good thing, and you're told you are, and then they turn on you and say no, you haven't done a good thing and you're a horrible person and should be guilty for it?Vulpixen wrote:Azunara wrote:I feel betrayed and hurt.

Essentially, I had to take care of a cat. She was thin, lethargic, and didn't eat, so we took her to our house. We kept her mostly apart from the other animals except for two encounters, where we first set her up and where we left the door to the room the cat was in open for too long. She did fine with us, ate, slept, drank water, and seemed okay, despite the skinniness and wheezing.
When I told the family, they were happy. Days later, they're yelling at me because I "made their cat sick", despite the fact she was at first not in the best of conditions. It's a bit hurtful when I think I'm trying to help and they yell at me, when it might not have even been my cat.
More detailed version is in my dA here.

Re: Rant Thread
Thats some Bs if their cat was in bad condition in the first place they THEY arent very good owners and to top it all off the flu could have been in her system making her hevae how she was when you toko her home in the first place. Moral of the story if your pet gets sick and you take poor care of it.. YOU SHOULDNT HAVE A PET. I'm sorry Azu thats super meanAzunara wrote:You know how you think you're doing a good thing, and you're told you are, and then they turn on you and say no, you haven't done a good thing and you're a horrible person and should be guilty for it?Vulpixen wrote:Azunara wrote:I feel betrayed and hurt.

Re: Rant Thread
That's crap, pure and simple. While your cat and theirs were not really in contact with each other, I definitely recommend taking your kitty to the vet [and they should take theirs, also!] to rule out an upper respiratory infection. They are EXTREMELY contagious! Best of luck and boo at those rude people. >:|Azunara wrote:You know how you think you're doing a good thing, and you're told you are, and then they turn on you and say no, you haven't done a good thing and you're a horrible person and should be guilty for it?Vulpixen wrote:Azunara wrote:I feel betrayed and hurt.

Re: Rant Thread
Everyone has the windows open and neighbours are listening to creepy music ("I would do anything for love", then Snoop Dogg, what a mixture) *uarks* *runs and hides with socks in her ears*
Fiance and cat both are sick and trample on my nerves - I wanted to have a nice last week in Germany, but this is what I get, I'm just so glad to leave on next Monday by now, away from all this shit. I really begin to hate Germany - there is so much wrong going on here. I hate the neighbourhood I have to live in because of my studies. I always loved little towns and nature und what do I have to live in? houses, pavement and only a single tree behind the house. It doesn't cool down in the night and I can't sleep because it's too hot. Neighbours are stupid and loud, put the trash out in the wrong garbage cans (so the garbage collection doesn't pick it up), throw down their old papers from balkony, so they land on mine, it's loud during the nights and in the mornings stupid trucks love to park in front of my window with motors on
I'm so damned pissed, I can't wait to get out of here. I know it's not the fault of "Germany" as country, but of Nuremberg and the part I live in, but our social system just gets worse and worse and they do nothing against the increasing criminality here, especially in the big cities. We have had riot like behavior in Berlin for almost a week now with burning cars and everything and this month a man was shot in public close to where I live. I am already frightened to leave the house at night, I never was like that at home, where my parents live. I am afraid to use the subway late in the evening when I'm alone, I don't enter certain districts or streets without my fiance at my side, it's getting just horrible. In Sweden I'll live in a small town far in the north with a nice little university, I'm hoping to calm down a bit when I'm there.
Sorry for the long post, but I had to get it off somewhere.
edit for some grammar...
