I threw some marks on a map from where I've noticed Savage tracks so far (just myself). He went around the bend of the mountains before the tracks seemed to just disappear (just north of the Arboretum). Please comment if you have any information different than what I have. I followed some of his tracks a bit west of the road there too.

Graaargggh maintenance. I wanted to go stalk some more Portents. So far I've seen Red/Black (tamed), purple/black, red/black again.... just now got a green one.

Something tells me on live I'm gong to have to tame every one I see until it's the right color, just so I can keep track of the spawn timer... I mean, obviously, if there's another hunter there I'll let them tame it. Just if no one's around, I really don't want to skew spawn timers by letting him walk around some more.

Another green one spawned, so I put hunters marks on it and followed it for a while to strat making my own personal map. Someone eventually came by to tame it, so I ran aside, because the first time they flared, I got caught in it. LOL.

On the west side of the road, the tracks go north between the road and Emperor's Omen, all the way up to the cliff where there's a family of Tanuki romping around. :)

I feel your pain! I was tracking Bloodtooth, then lost his tracks. I think he went deepsea diving on me. :(

Glimmer is making me rip my hairs out. He's so sneaky. I haven't even managed to see Bloodtooth and patty's tracks yet at all!

Ugh, I feel your pain. It took me about 2 hours to finally get him, his tracks are so impossible to follow when they get into the petals on the ground. I was going cross-eyed.

Ugh, thanks for the additional tip Agra. I'm going to try my luck again tonight / tomorrow morning for Savage.

I wonder what the spawn timer of these mobs will be. Since they're marked as "elites" instead of "rares" I wonder if it wouldn't be that long actually.

Even if the mob is up every 1-2 hours, as you mentioned Veph about your Glimmer hunt, it could still take a long time to track them down. I think once Panda hits, I might make a macro (1000g to the hunter who flares out Savage for me to tame). Maybe it'll get some hits.

I like this idea of a pet that you actually have to "hunt" for. (and yet I think its much better than my older idea of a rare that pops up in multiple zones)

*Other note, I love how MMO-CHAMP still hasn't gotten wind of this yet. Its a Petopian-bred secret! Thanks to all who played a part in getting this info out to us (Noah and his conspirators)

It amuses me greatly that we're not being used as a source, especially since we have the most/most accurate info. ;)

Not to mention probably the most helpful community on the topic...

Yup!

But I don't mind, since it keeps the die-hards in the know ahead of the rest of the world. ;)

Well, at least the first post I saw in general beta forums that mentioned the mechanic linked back here. :)

I'm going to have nightmares about this stupid quilen by live.

Today's hourly Portent spawns are green, green, green, green. I decide to go find Hexapos instead, who had been already tamed or something.
Come back, cobalt spawned and tamed elsewhere in a minute.

OK, fine, I get it, WoW. Cobalt's the only skin of this quilen I actually want, but when a game is pushing me to tears of frustration I think it's time to stop trying.
I'll just settle for this stupid GREEN color or something. :/
(Why do they insist on color changer rare? I want a particular pet and I am HUNTING for it, I should not have to deal with nested RNG.)

Nice video to show the gist of it.

Kalli, what you didnt see that this "Syiler" dug up all the information for the Petopians to steal!

Omg, did someone actually say that?
Laughing so hard right now.

 I hope not! I would imagine that there are other hunters out there discovering things on their own. :)

I wouldn't worry about the spawn colors at the moment - all that matters is what happens on live. ;) And it's going to be a LOT harder for casual impulse tames to happen.

You know, cause we're such thieves. Not like we're the ones going blind trying to find miniscule prints, or following a trail that backtracks three times (Ty Savage), or hunting down every Portent to see if there might be a pattern to his color changing. Oh no.

THIEVES. TSK TSK. XD

I'm actually kind of peeved we weren't mentioned. We worked our asses off to get these guys known for the world (of Warcraft) and I find it very hard to see him discovering these on his own. I dunno, it's just annoying for some reason.

I'll tell you, after the fourth green Portent I was getting worried that he had gotten stuck on green!

The way I see it, the past few days I was scouring around for what would pick up on our shenanigans first, and WoW Hunter's Hall did, and they listed both of the threads on the matter, so that's a good thing.
