Here is another Moonlost Pet report!
This time, my goblin Slumlost was assigned to pick up the
Orange Dragonhawk.
So, these guys are pretty simple to pick up for Horde, I just took the teleporter to Silvermoon, went out the gates, ran to the west and there they were. First one I saw was tamed pretty simply. I can imagine alliance having a tougher time with this, as they'd have to slog all the way there through EPL and Ghostlands.
Anyway, I named this guy Venant, after one of the four
Royal stars. I felt it was appropriate.

Venant and I soon found ourselves in the Eastern Plaguelands and working for the Argent Crusade, occasionally helping a travelling caravan as we moved. Venant seemed rather aloof of our situation, but quickly became engaged as we started to thin the local scourge population. He was not happy being forced to follow along behind Fiona's wagon though.
~The Review~
Model: Details and anatomy of dragonhawks are... weird. Like a mix between reptiles, birds and insects. It took me a while to get used to the look to be honest, but I admit to having it grow on me. The model itself is rather smooth looking and pretty detailed. You can definitely tell this was a post-vanilla model.
The first thing I noticed about Venant's movements is that he is a very floaty pet. He doesn't move so much as just hover there in the air, which I've heard can be a little off-putting. I personally don't mind it so much. But oh wow, this guy looks
amazing when he flies. It's as if I have a rippling wave of fire beside me, it's awesome. Anyone pining for a phoenix pet should seriously check out the orange dragonhawk. Swimming motions are pretty much the same, only slowed down somewhat and reducing the "rippling fire" impression. One other thing I noticed is, just like the tallstider, dragonhawks have a very regal look and feel to them. Very proud and graceful. The only thing I dislike about the dragonhawk animations are the attacks. One of them is a rather sensible diving peck, the other one is a rather pathetic tail slap which looks just about as painful as a thrown pillow. Other than that though, very smooth moving pet.
This guy's colours are pretty fantastic. The body seems a little drab at first, but I found it to mesh quite well with the rest of him. The shading is really subtle, much more so than the other dragonhawk skins.
Utility: Dragonhawks are... not good for soloing. I was having a bit of a hard time not snagging aggro from Venant while in combat, even as a Beastmaster. His ability doesn't really benefit us much either, asside from one or two abilities
I think. However, that same ability would be very useful for raids, PvP and groups with a fair few spellcasters in them. As a cunning pet, Venant is perhaps a little more suited to PvP than PvE, but you should still be able to deal damage with one, should you desire to run with one.
Diet: Dragonhawks live on a diet of meat, fish and fruit. Although vendors for these can be hard to find when questing, most beasts should drop some food for a hungry dragonhawk to eat, Or you can fish something up for their supper. So they're not too hard to keep happy.
Final Thoughts: I gotta admit Kormai, you have a way of rolling well for me. I've been thinking of picking up a Dragonhawk for Slum, but decided to wait until I could pick up one of the higher level colours, specifically the Zul'Aman Dragonhawk. But after running around with Venant, I think I just may keep him instead.

He is gorgeous, especially as he flies. I'm not sure he'll be used as often as some of my other pets, but he's definitely got a space in my stables.
I'd love to go for another
