There is a story line in quests ? I never read them. I read what I'm supposed to do and that's it. If I stopped to read each story It would take forever to quest. As for the OP. Sometime It's not just the skin it's a special ability. Example being the spirit beast pets. They have a healing ability that you can macro so the pet heals you and not itself.

A pet for a hunter is everything, otherwise we would roll a mage, or a warlock. Your achievement isn't essential for your gameplay, our pets are.
Of course if you find a mob it's your right to kill it but if another guy is taming it you cannot kill the rare, that's just lame.
