I would be fine with them A) keeping this pet as is and not changing a thing about it, or B) allow those who have it to keep it as is and make it untamable like they have in the past under similar circumstances. I love this little guy, and would simply hate to see it taken away from me, or any other hunter out there who has grown so attached to it.

i mainly hope they keep him as he is now...cuddlesome and tameable...i adore him into small pieces...and if they would have to do something about it *which from my point of view they wouldn't* just make it untamable *this might sound selfish which it likely is but i have indeed grown attached to it*

I do hope he remains tameable this size and with the trail ... but ... if they have to "fix" him I rather they make him untameable/remove them than scale them like the others.. selfish perhaps but I think many would prefer to see them remain leetle beetles rather than another big black one.

I caught this today idling in Org .. I think it shows the size of these little guys well and I thought it was cute.
Nefretiti's little Bomani saying Hi! to one of the spiny lizards inhabiting Orgrimmar

I too hope they keep the small size as that's what caught my interest (bugs scare me) though I also hope they keep it tameable to make it fair to those who want it and didn't jump on the train fast enough. That said, I think the most obvious "fix" would be to scale it to the same size as other beetles because I think the moment someone brings one to PVP, there's going to be complaints about the size making it hard to target.
At least I had a good laugh while taming. It was so tiny that my taming buddy couldn't see if I'd gotten it or not. At one point (and I guess we figured we'd kill the boss while there) Anub spiked my mini beetle and it shielded while flying up into the air - big shield, tiny pindot pet. I'm already looking forward to tanking Onyxia this week!

I registered here JUST to thank you for pointing out this awesome tame, Spiritbinder!
It was a bit annoying to solo with my level 84 terrorpene (Aeschylus) but thankfully after the first failed capture there were a couple still remaining and I snagged one without having to re-engage
To date this site has been responsible for me snagging Oil-stained wolf, The Lone Hunter, burning piggie, icepaw bear (cool glowy front paws), disembodied jormungar (Hodir daily spawn), Terrorpene and Gondria
Best.
Minigame.
EVER.

I agree with what everyone's said--if there's a way for people to be able to keep taming Scarab, that'd be awesome. Keep the mini beetle love going, haha!
peanutbuttercup, that's a great point about PvP. Maybe as a potential solution (and I don't profess to know how difficult this may be to execute) Blizz could increase the size of the Scarab's hitbox to that of a typical beetle once tamed, but maintain his current diminutive size? He shows up fine with nameplates, and an enemy player could tab-target...and, if enemy wanted to click-to-kill, at least the larger hitbox would be a compromise on the battlefield. Just a thought...until we see what happens (or doesn't), I'll do a WoW-god dance and hope for the best.
P.S. I love the boss fight pics / stories. Ridiculous!

*EDIT: @ Dethedrus: though I'm also a newbie here, I'll extend a welcome to the forum! This site really is a gem.
@Nefretiti: that screencap is adorable. Just...d'awww.

Goes well with Mr. Grubbs minipet. Just sayin'.
Fairly cute little bugger. The hit box idea is nice, but I doubt Blizz would go for it...
...unless, ya know, they change the glyph that makes pets slightly smaller to make them scaled down in size to that of this beetle... but just kept the hit boxes the same... ah well, I can dream...

I confess that the little bugger got me too, and I don't even like the beetles.

After 4 tries I tamed it!
I don't remember who posted the name Squirt for it, but it fits well! Thanks for the name idea!

Just tamed one of these little guys myself

Just missed a tamed... the tame bar hit zero, but there was no golden flash. However, with my death the scarabs emerged from my own corspe, so.. ran back in and there they were waiting for me

Safely tamed and now running around with a little Squirt of my own :3

No screenshot of my tame, but here's a trick on how we did it:
Level 85 MM hunter (me), Level 85 Frost Mage (friend)
1. We go in, kill the first group of spiders on the left side. Careful of the pat (which I aggroed and killed my turtle with, woops!)
2. Since I spent a good 20g on Lesser Invisibility Potions for a separate glitch ( I won't explain that :p), we both invis past the remaining group in the hallway before Anub.
3. I set my pet to stay where the entrance is, and put mend pet on it. I run up and misdirect the boss to him.
4. Focusing on keeping my pet alive, the mage goes wild on the add, killing it pretty fast.
5. I pop my Gift of the Naaru and mend pet, and bolt over to the corpse to drop a trap.
6. Trap down, pet dying. I feign, mage takes aggro and hightails it around the room with Mirror image active.
7a. Adds spawn, one gets frozen by trap. I begin taming.
7b. Get hit by impale because Anub is a douche, nearly killing me.
8. I distracting shot boss, mage begins hearthing.
9. Mage hearthed, I set beetle on suicide tank mission and hearth out myself.
10. We BS around and goof off with our great work.
Thanks for the find! This is highly amusing.

I told my guild about my little Volkswagon beetle, then showed them how tiny he was. One of my guildmates told her other server and 4 hunters tamed them and were very tempted to name them George, Paul, John and Ringo.
